Nervous and with no sleep. We spoke at 4AM before he had to go on and he hadn't slept a wink. Had to fly to Scotland right after this to perform. He man is a true professional, loves his fans and would never let them down.
With a very heavy heart I have to confirm that Mr Steve Strange passed away at 11AM today in his sleep from heart failure. Steve was resting in his beloved Egypt after recovering from an earlier respiratory infection. The man who was the face of 80s UK youth culture leaves a huge legacy of sparkling creativity for us to remember him by. As his US agent this is a huge personal loss for me but my thoughts are with his family and his legion of fans to whom he meant so very much. Sleep peacefully my friend.
I did worry about Steven , ld seen him on TV a few times not seeming quite right. not to be judgemental. l wanted to reach out and hug him. but I don't think anyone could predict this. Iv been listening and watching videos all night.

He was riding high recently with the release of Hearts and Knives, the most highly praised of all his albums. The future looked bright with the release of "Visage ORCHESTRAL" and writing for a new album underway. Sleep peacefully sweet Strange one.
He was such a lovely, kind, and sweet man. I don't think he ever realized how big of an influence he was to so many people. A true legend, and gone way too soon.
This guy is awesome. He has a heart of gold. A lot of people mis judge him. He's a huge talent and has done so much for the music industry. Steve Strange......legend!
What a beautiful, caring soul, honest and genuine. Humans like him are very rare as he had talent, love for life and generous with it. Hope you're at peace now :(
Makes me cry to see Steve like this. Steve created the eighties scene, and was by far the best club promoter of his generation. A beautiful beautiful man who is greatly missed.
Steve was the guy who launched a whole youth movement. He changed music and pop culture across Europe and much of the US. He remains as committed to that today as he was back in 1980. Thank you for your support and kindness. I'm happy to be his US agent, the man is a real gentleman and a true original. New album coming in just a few weeks. The first new material from Visage in 25 years, I've heard it and you are all going to love it!.
Sorry folks. Some bullies spoil things for everyone. I've had to turn on moderation for comments on this video as a thuggish few have decided to start posting abuse here. I won't tolerate Steve's memory being tarnished by bigots so comments are getting screened before they go live. I hope you still enjoy watching him in one of his last interviews. All reasonable comments will get approved. Thanks.

I’ve always loved visage from the age of 13, I live in Cornwall, and the music is so true to what I have felt through my life, I have seen some documentaries on our dear Steve strange, and yes he was a sensitive,Just like summer for sore, and most definitely me, my name is Dawn, and I’m in Cornwall, I was in a rehab, when I found out that he had died. And I couldn’t believe it………. I’ve always wanted to meet him. Very very much.I did write to him once in the 80s, but maybe he didn’t get my letter, all I can say is what I can see, it’s a very artistic individual, sensitive, been through a lot in life, very vulnerable so, and that’s what makes us special, if no one except us at the start. Then we will do it our way.Wonderful man, and also very spiritual as well. I only wish I could’ve met him, I am very much like him, although now I am 51, I’m still trying to search what I want to do in life, I am an artist, painting, and that’s what I think, I will do,. Not for my O-level I painted a picture of Steve strange on the cover of fade to Grey, I want an O-level for that painting, but I never got the painting back. Steve’s day Steve strange,,,, and God bless you in heaven. From Dawn in Cornwallxxxxxx
This interview is truly beautiful. Steve really opens up, he is clearly emotional and shows his vulnerable side as an artist. They all give him the space to talk and speak from the heart. I love Janet S-P for jumping in to build Steve up with a shared joke from the old days. Artists are rare and sensitive souls, where would we be without the true originals. I love that they showed him the respect and compassion he deserved. It is very hard to talk about your art, your music and the mood you create. He has left a big hole in my heart.
Couldn't bear to watch this just after he died. My favourite person ever, a big role model for me even though I grew up in the 2000s. So sad I missed new romanticism and now Steve will be sorely missed too! What a brilliant man!
You want to see talent? Meet Steve Strange. Was the trailblazer who spearheaded the New Romantics that spawned Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Culture Club, Visage themselves, Depeche Mode and a serious slew of talent. He was lord and master of The Blitz nightclub, he took his que from David Bowie. Originality poured off him. Rusty was his partner in crime. Steve Strange, born Stephen John Harrington, was as original as they come. If you grew up watching him you never forgot him. Steve passed away in 2015, and the nightclubs seem to have lost a lot of their sparkle without their prince. RIP Steven Strange.

R.I.P Steve. I can't believe that I'm having to write this, because I can't believe you are gone. Since hearing about your passing, I have cried and cried. I am totally distraught. Of all the pop stars that I have had crushes on over the years, YOU are the only one that I have been able to look back and say, "yeah I was right to fancy him. I still do now!" So gorgeous and so sexy. I hope that I get to meet you on the other side some day. R.I.P. my beautiful beautiful angel.xxxxxxxxxxx
Hard knocks take their toll for sure. Steve is happier and healthier now than he has been for years. The new album is out and is selling well to great reviews. All of us who are lucky enough to work with Steve are very happy for him. He deserves some success.
I went to the blitz xx 😘 I have seen all of our British music and clubs for a few generations xx and let’s not forget Northern Soul xx Britain 🇬🇧 at its best xx
Met Steve Strange in the summer of 82 was 82 in Dublin, Well when I say met, I was busking playing Sax with a guitarist on Grafton when after finishing a song this guy came up to me put a piece of paper in the guitar case with a telephone number written on it whispering in my ear my name is Steve Strange give me a call. I phoned him the next day he told me he thought I was really good he was about to start a world tour and looking for a Sax player. Had a quick chat ,asked him why he was in Dublin ,apparantly a a male friend of his had a modelling assignment there. I had no idea who he was when he walked up to me but he definitely stood out in a good way ,very cool looking. I did phone him when I was in London, a girl answered saying he was away at the time ,one thing and another I never phoned him back which I should have ,bear in mind this was before mobile phones the number he gave me first must of been the hotel number in Dublin, then gave me his English number. Sad he died so young I always had the impression that whole blitz scene was a bit superficial self obsessed etc but actually he comes across as a nice guy and obviously he was well liked.
@@HowardPrice Hi Howard. On reflection it may have been the summer of 83 ha how time passes ,anyway sorry for your loss, not easy when a good friend passes especially when still relatively young.
Only a week before he passed I was listening to some 80's tracks on UA-cam and listened to "Fade to Grey" a few times. It's a track that although epitomises the 80's, has really stood the test of time as a true classic. I was just a young kid in a northern town, but the influence he had on youth culture was massive. Especially, all the girls dressing in the new romantic gear. I think only in London would the guys dress in the new romantic stuff, we were not so daring in my working class city. But, even in the playground, the kids talked about the nightclubs Steve Strange ran in London and we knew he was the centre of everything cool at that time. A music, youth, culture and art movement in London. Time marches on, but there will always be those who play his music, even after all that remember the 80's are gone. R.I.P.
I was only playing Visage the weekend before Steve passed away.Being 41 I just missed the new romantic era but love the music.very upset when he died;had an innocent, lovable quality.xxx
I have total respect for him that he has come out the other side, I used to go to Camden Palace and have really fond memories of that time. Special times and yes he will always be a recovering addict but that just makes me admire him so much more. D xx
it was so wonderful to see Steve back on top, the fabulous live shows and the wonderful new Visage album...........its so cruel that he is no longer with us...a truly inspirational and wonderful man.......thoughts go out to everyone Howard.........may his legacy live long and shine brightly x
Steve was pure class. A window on another age; of gentlemen dandies, of the flâneur and artists that worked in multiple forms and were not dictated to by market demands, but rather that set their own agendas. He could teach the generations to come a lot about the l'élan vital. RIP Steve.
Hes been clean for years. The man deserves huge praise for pulling himself out of that situation. We all make mistakes. He was lucky enough to be able to correct his. Have you heard the new album? it's available for pre-order on iTunes. He sounds better than he did in the 80s.
Great to see Steve, thank you for posting. I have never seen ANY negative comments about Steve, this is the way it should be. I got into the Blitz club, I was 15 at the time, no ID necessary, I was dressed in a Danny Zucko leather jacket and white T-shirt. I got waved in no problem. My parents had no idea!!!!! It was GREAT fun.
+Mike Hudson Thanks for sharing your story Mike. We had a problem a few months back with bullies posting hate speech against Steve here so I had to lock things down a bit. Next Friday is the 1st anniversary of his passing. He will be much missed by us all.
I've known "Fade to Grey" since I was a kid (I'm only 26...so haven't caught the 80s) and the video had certainly an impact on me. But still, I feel so sad I only managed to know Visage well enough only after Steve's passing...it was such a shock for me...it made me look after all the discography, checking clips and interviews. Now I have all the albums including the superb "Strange Cruise" album of which too few know about...I wished I could have had the occasion to tell Steve how amazing he was, such an inspiration and huge talent! He seemed also a very sweet lovely man...
Always have Fade To Grey on my playlist,it's the definitive sound of the 80s for me.Love the orchestral version as well. Thanks for this post, was nice to hear him in this chat.RIP Steve.
He seemed like a lovely man. End of an era now he's passed but I'm sure he will always be remembered. I'm only 28 so I wasn't born in the blitz years but my god what a fan I am. His work will go on for generations to come
Same here. My dad was brought up in the new romantic era and has passed his music taste onto me! That era has really influenced me as a musician and creative artist. Rip xx
His death was such a tragedy! Out of all the celebrities who have died in recent years (specifically Michael Jackson and Robin Williams) he was the only one that made me cry. I cried constantly after finding out about his death. His video Mind of a Toy has been such a huge influence on me. People like him, Bowie, and Klaus Nomi have really influenced my artistic expression. I think what really got to me about his death was that I could've met him. We shared a mutual friend (Joey Arias) and I had seen that he had a Facebook profile. I would've loved to have told him about the movie I've been working on that is based on Hansel and Gretel that will feature a reference to the mind of a toy video (a face on a clock). Though I think it was best that I did not contact him because if we would've connected, he unfortunately would've never seen the movie completed due to his untimely death. I'm thinking of dedicating the film to him in his memory.
VAMPYR ENGEL And now David Bowie's passed away. And in less then a year too. :( David Bowie was also a huge influence. His Ashes to Ashes music video made me want to become a musician.
Poor Steve strange I agree with what other people have said. When he appeared on interviews or promotions he did seem very nervous & stammered when he talked he was obviously such a gentle & affectionate man it took him a very long time to get rid of his addiction & make a comeback & what a comeback the hearts & knives album & all the singles on it were wonderful I only wish he was still with us recording music & regaining his confidence & status as,a highly recognised music & fashion icon
Steve strange and visage changed the face of music as we know it. Fade to grey was the best synth song of the 80s and simply ever. Still get goose bumps when I listen to it. Steve was and is a national treasure who we should have looked after so much better than we did. God bless and RIP Steve xx
Great memories from the Camden Palace must have been 1983. Saw Visage on stage and PA’s from Grace Jones. Met Tic&Toc there Spandau at the bar. The early 80’s were a brilliant time. There was a lot of bad stuff happening but there was a lot of hope, it’s the hope that’s missing now.
@@HowardPrice I had 2 brothers 12 years older and grew up with Visage and Duran Duran era and loved Fade to Grey. Would live to have met him. So sorry Howard 😪
It's a crying shame he passed on when this band released an awesome record. One thing I want to note, I am strangely attracted to that hat. I want to get one,

Rest in Peace Steve Strange. You'll always be my favourite New Romantic singer.
+Ari Srabstein I cry still. He is missed so much. Without knowing he created a new culture. Something that we still hold on to.
+Ari Srabstein Yeah I shed tears for Steve I wanted to actually meet this guy who inspired me along with Gary Numan but I guess I never will now
VAMPYR ENGEL
And now David Bowie's passed away. And in less then a year too. :( David Bowie was also a huge influence. His Ashes to Ashes music video made me want to become a musician.
And of course Steve Strange was famously in that video.
What a beautiful soul loved him RIP STEVE ❤
What a character
He was very nervous and had no sleep the night before. Poor guy was running fumes.
What a lovely interview was a school at when fade to grey hit the charts loved it! why are all the best took too early ? R.I.P steve

In the early 80s as a DJ I played the 12" version of Fade to Grey till the groves wore out, its a timeless piece. RIP Steve.
It's a crying shame he passed on when this band released an awesome record. One thing I want to note, I am strangely attracted to that hat. I want to get one,

if I had a soundtrack of my life, Fade to Grey is on it.I was not a huge fan of New Romantic movement, but there was something powerful and cutting edge about this song when it came out when I was 15.
