    If you like serious skiing, and hit CB with good snow, you’ll look at the front range resorts much differently. It’s incredible, as is the town. And, there’s always the backcountry just to the west of town that gets double the snow the resort does. Great review.

      I think the key is good snow. My friends went there some years ago and one wanted to cry, complete lack of snow. I think if I lived in Colorado I would definitely ski it when I knew they had plenty of snow. It looks like my kind of mountain but the lack of snow is a big deal when you are flying. It’s the same reason I have never skied Telluride, low snow numbers. Snowbird, Alta and JH just have better snow numbers.

      @@denunocincoSnow and snow totals are a crap shoot. You just never know. Two years ago I went to Colorado for two week in March. The week before I went my friend called me and said the conditions sucked. Colorado was having a poor year. A couple of days later the snow game and when I arrived things were very good. A week after I left my friend said things went back to sucking. Timing is everything. We skied A Basin, Winter Park and Copper Mountain. Take care and have a great time.

    I’ve skied all over Colorado. What ever you say negatively doesn’t take into account the magic that can unexpectedly take place. She was so pretty. The snow great, the jacuzzi at night spectacular and a place and time I’ll never forget.

    My first time snowboarding in Colorado was at Crested Butte, I was just getting onto blues so still a beginner, I still look back on the resort as an amazing time and can’t wait to return there in the winter. Went back this summer for mountain biking.

      @@mbtravel7294 they have a good selection of greens and blues. It’s one of the main reasons we picked that resort, it’s not catered towards the top of the line experts, but also not catered towards kids but both those groups can still find runs there. It fit us perfectly

    My first and only trip to Crusty Butt was around age 14. I wanna go back. I have a lot of fond memories of all the powder and fun off piste areas and chutes.
    I agree with everything said. It's a mountain to know the terrain first before going off piste. But it's so worth it.
    They removed twister. I remember that scary lift. No safety bar.

    • @mtadams2009

      The review seemed to be a good one. With steep terrain you generally need big snow. If it snows the place sounds great. I have friends who skied their once and the snow was terrible and I mean terrible. None of the steep terrain was skiable.

    • @PeakRankings
      @PeakRankings  2 роки тому +2

      Great question. Crested Butte is certainly one of the most unique resorts we've ever visited from a topographic standpoint, but with its relatively short vert, we felt that it wasn't tall enough to produce the top-of-the-world feeling that the resorts that earn a 9 in this category offer.

    • @ikal8178
      @ikal8178 2 роки тому

      In my opinions sugarloaf (with maybe jay peak, whiteface/lake placid, and wildcat) is the only eastern resort that can compare to the west’s difficulty, snow, and well obviously alpine terrain (there isn’t much but it’s memorable). It has some of the best snow, hardest runs (including Upper Gondola Line/Gondola Line Extension which is one of the most difficult regularly groomed runs) I’d give it somewhere in the 70-85 range with downsides being lifts and it’s shear remoteness.

    This guy keeps talking about lift network issues. Where? CB is well known to be an extreme mountain, you just gotta hike more and ski the mountain right and you you got no issues. CB is great for extremes/freeride, they just need a bigger/better park.

  • @WickedZZzY
    @WickedZZzY 2 роки тому +2

    I've been to CB three times and was never impressed. Poor snow cover, even midyear, and bad lift access to anything difficult.
    Wolf Creek is a significantly better mountain if you're going to travel from the front range.
