Here in Buffalo, NY they play classical music in the stations along our cities light rail system. I have to say it makes the ride alot more pleasant and enjoyable. I wish local restaurants would follow suit. You can't sit down for a nice meal anymore without the nauseating blare of what passes as popular music today.
I tried riding through the pandemic and I had 3 very scary encounters, including being spit on! I now have a disability and cannot run and am afraid to take the train.
@Lil Queerdoe sure, but I have a bag of supplies I take to work every day. I also used to ride my bike through the city. The cars are almost as dangerous as some of the train riders.
@@keriezy well I just had a encounter with a guy on the bike the other day he crossed a red light when mine was green. One thing I know when u in traffic wether on bike,ev scooter, car, motorcycle, your supposed to follow thr law that mean stopping for red lights and then they blame the car driver for hitting the idiot on the bike. Just saying also alot of idiot car driver too have a turn signal to make a right I want to switch lanes to the left he then he switches lanes to the left I just get mad and say why like why he literally slowed down like he was making a right with right turn signal boom cuts me off and goes left.
I lived in LA for 13 years starting in 1996. The big worry at that time was that building underground was stupid because of the earthquakes. I went back in 2019 and was amazed how many people in LA are using the subway.
Some 7-Elevens play loud music in front of their stores for the same reason. It cuts down on transients and homeless hanging around. I like to listen to classical music once in a while, but not loud and certainly not all day. Metro needs to add flashing lights to the mix. Make it a disco with classical music and that will make things better. Everyone knows disco is dead. That metro station is in a crappy area. I wouldn't exit that station at night. Metro needs to force everyone off the train cars at the end of the line. The red line basically goes back and forth, and people are sleeping on the trains until they're kicked out, which could be hours. If they're kicked out after a maximum of 30 minutes, they wouldn't make the red line their home.
I used to work at walmart and the music they played would start to mess with your mind, it's cool to hear when you're shopping for 15 minutes, but when you work there and hear the same stuff all day for a month or more it gets super old, especially if it's music you don't like. For that reason I can't stand john legend
What they need to do is bring back the cops that would hop in the train randomly and ask to see your train ticket, i remember I got a ticket once and never rode the train again without one!! I learned my lesson. Now they let these transients sleep inside the station do drugs and pass out in the train !! What kinda sh*t is that??? This state is going backwards every day
If this works, then music truly is mind blowing how it can change things. There's something else I wanted to say but I don't want to give any potential criminals any ideas.
I'm shocked the media is finally talking about the fears of people riding the trains. Who wants to ride dirty disgusting trains. The ambassadors don't even hang out by the platforms in Mc Arthur Park. Instead they are up in the mezzanine level most of the time. Loud music doesn't help stop the loitering, drug users and prevent crime. Allow law enforcement officers to do their job. Make arrests of those who use drugs, loiter and refuse to leave and cite those that don't pay to ride the train. The majority of criminals who loiter, use drugs, commit crimes and ride the trains never pay! Let the cops do their job! And they will clean up MTA and make it safe for riders and their families
I took the metro recently and didn't see a single metro employee or law enforcement officer in either the Hollywood Vine station or the 7th Street Metro Center station. Druggies in both stations hanging out.
in western mass we have a loitering problem. once bus route ends at my employer. another bus stays on the nearby road. people think that the second route enters my employer after the first route finishes for the day. it stays on that road.
Genuinely curious if citizens can start suing the cities for the disgusting, debilitating, unsanitary, unsafe conditions of our public transportation? We shouldn’t have to walk over feces, breathe in mold , urine and fentanyl, and potentially be stabbed or murdered for simply riding a subway home.
The juxtaposition music research was, if you happy and excited. You'll sing along with it. It triggers the side of the brain with content and less trepidation with spending. That's why you see casinos and some store's in malls blaring hits. Makes them feel hip and with less guards up. Disneyland does the same thing. When you hear kids music. You feel youthful, curious, and explorative. There's laughter and excitement associated. Unfortunately, classical music is 50/50. They assume if you don't like it, you'll go away. But what classical music for the other 50% brings. It's known for it's creativity. You hear it in art classes, math, and science labs. I don't think classical music will end criminal activity.
I thought I heard something for a second earlier. How about using cops and them going on the trains. Instead of hanging up, upstairs. And riding on the trains for 1 stop.
I rode on this system. I would go to Hollywood Boulevard, Universal Studios. It's better than driving. I stay at the Mayfair hotel, and I would use the 7th Street/Metro Center/Julian Dixon or the Westlake/MacArthur Park Stations.
I would do better than that. Just to make sure that the bugs wouldn't even dare to get close, I would blast a raw, old school Black Metal into the speakers.
did anyone say only one entrance and exit? this is unpleasant for older people because they cannot walk so far. bryan adams: straight from the heart gangstas: straight from the underground
Put on the ballot to legalize all drugs, and crime. I'm betting it would pass, and we could all just smoke ourselves stupid while enjoying our new utopia.
Sociopaths have an affinity for classical music: so... this idea is to thwart common-criminals by inspiring sophisticated psychopaths, thus counter ongoing crime with influx of solo-trust-fund-thrill-killers? Some big brains at work, clearly from college.
First - you've never seen me go wild after a Paganini concert. We're talking full on riot. Second - wouldn't blasting music make it kind of hard for visually impaired people to hear what's going around them??

Lies again? Song Bird

I feel for you. Because those who appear the most vulnerable, ARE targets.
Get an electric scooter

carry a gun
So now you can listen to Mozart as you're stabbed.
omg 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂☠️
🤣🤣🤣
Not funny ! 🙄 only a psychopath will make a joke or laugh to this ! Yikes
Mozart, Vivaldi, Bach are nice…
You can even make people sleep 😁

Here's the issue, the red line from union station to NoHo is 30 minutes in total.

Makes no difference, I’ve noticed a lot of the homeless have TAP cards. But the issue is they ride til the wheels fall off.
We gonna get robbed with a soundtrack now , painful
Demons have manifest unto the trains.
I rode them for a few months for the experience....it was the darkest scariest experience of my life.

I used to play classical music in the psych ward where I worked.

If fares are enforced it would be safer. Because those who pay to use it tend to be law abiding.

The loud music scares the animals away. 🙉
And we need the animals to scare away the transients that make the trains their home.
Aww who cares
Even can cast demons out of humans 🤣
It won't help, but I still like it
It already is helping

Sick of the pot and drug use. It was never like this on the red.
People can just use noise canceling headphones. It isn’t going to make a difference bc they are so high that they pass out or worse.
This proves the US will always be fancier and superior even in a train 🚊 station . That’s why I’m proud to live in this country 🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸 🇺🇸
I would do better than that. Just to make sure that the bugs wouldn't even dare to get close, I would blast a raw, old school Black Metal into the speakers.
In Seattle, you get to inhale secondary fentanyl smoke on light rail trains.
did anyone say only one entrance and exit? this is unpleasant for older people because they cannot walk so far.
bryan adams: straight from the heart
gangstas: straight from the underground
They need to put on some Shostakovich to resemble the environment...
Or Stravinsky!😆
We don’t need any of that anti republican jewry in our nation
I greet you fellow man of culture.
The metro is a living hell.
Have they tried arresting and convicting
I’ll believe it when I smell it.
💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤ what a great idea
They should have police patrol in worst stations every hour to get out the homeless and drug additives from metro stations.😮😅😢
Walgreens have done this as well. Something about classical music lol.
Just play Evanescence, that depresses the hell out of ANYONE!
Evanescence has fans. I gave your comment thumbs down for speaking on everyone's behalf. Screw those who gave it thumbs up!
Right , evanescence rocks ! Tf is wrong with this fool 🙄
Sure
I'll order an Uber
How does music help ?? it makes screams unheard
Nice, can't hear the screaming 👍
Yes. And paint the walls pink.
Put on the ballot to legalize all drugs, and crime. I'm betting it would pass, and we could all just smoke ourselves stupid while enjoying our new utopia.
Clean the train, flat form & well lit please
Disturbing trend that negatively effects people with auditory sensitivity. 😢
Sociopaths have an affinity for classical music: so... this idea is to thwart common-criminals by inspiring sophisticated psychopaths, thus counter ongoing crime with influx of solo-trust-fund-thrill-killers? Some big brains at work, clearly from college.
They can play that classical music all they want until someone comes along with their radio and blast loud rap music.
Rap music hurts my ears 🤮🤮🤮🤮
?????? Try enforcement of the law and remove that criminal elements and keep the public safe.?????🙄
I know right? What a fresh and innovative idea you've expressed! (Sarcasm button off).
@sarahblack6965 the 70's and 80s in California were very crazy .
we need more homeless people
Why ? Are you out of your mind weirdo !
Lmao 🤣🤣🤣🤣
These states need REPUBLICANS in office
Heres the issue with that tho, They're anti LGBTQ, California is basically where most of the LGBTQ Community lives especially Los Angeles.
First - you've never seen me go wild after a Paganini concert. We're talking full on riot. Second - wouldn't blasting music make it kind of hard for visually impaired people to hear what's going around them??
Entirely crap comment that gets a thumbs down from me.
Only in LA... nowhere else in the state has this kind of problems
Right. Go to San Francisco, and visit their Thunderdome.
To keep demons away you have to play Christian music.... Guess it's not gonna get any better for the metro🤷♀️
I hate LA Metro 🚇
💀💀💀
Good!
wtf is worser?
💀💀💀
Reminds me of Soviet Russia. Neat. Except they didn’t have homeless.
