Best tutorial I’ve watched! Thank you for the boiling hot water tip!
This is, by far, the best tutorial that I was able to find. So detailed and informative. Thank you!
Great hose circumcision video.
Love watching you for obvious reasons and love that you improvise. I get the jist!
I want to say THANK YOU so much for sharing your video I would have never thought of hot water and boy did it help thank you so much again from southern California :)
Thank you for showing the tricks. I just bought the parts and fixed my leaky hose after watching your video.
This saved me at least 10 bucks. Thanks.
Thanks for this helpful video, especially the tip about putting the hose end in the boiled water. Made getting the new nozzle in much easier.
Thank you for sharing. I just couldn’t get it connected. Now that I know hot water bowl and soaking along with force is what’s needed !
@8:01 "lefty loosey, righty tighty". Thanks for the inspiration to fix my broke hose. And that's a good tip for covering the metal edge with electrical tape.
It's not perfect but better than any other option I've found for covering the metal clamp. Good luck with your hose repair!
Thank you you helped when you said, you might have to put the hose in hot water ! Just the help I needed God bless.
Good tip on covering the metal part : ) clear instructions. Alot of thirsty grandpas on here 😅
Thank you for the demonstration. I am now more confident about getting the necessary parts and actually fixing the hose!!
The tip about boiling water is precious. By boiling I mean boiling I took my teapot along.
great video on how to repair the ends of a garden hose.
Thanks so much! I was getting really frustrated trying to figure this out!!
Thanks for anticipating so many things with this video!
Hope it was helpful! Good luck with your hose repair :-)
Thanks for the video, very helpful...
Great demonstration. 👍👍👍
Very nice demonstration!
Thank you for demonstrating the other type of strap replacement
Thank you for this video, you just saved me money
Brilliant! Very informative, thank you.
I went back to the hardware store and got a male part for the hose. I made sure to hold the inner part of the hose and the exterior hose needed to make full contact. I couldn't get the two parts up all the way with the male attachment, so I added the entire end in the mostly cooled down warmer water and it helped reach the flat end of the male part. This allow my wrists not to be in so much pain *old gal here*. Thank you for this video as I am surely a new sub and can't wait for more improvements on our new home. Many hugs. ~*Shana
So glad you got it fixed. Arthritis and similar ailments are no fun at all so anything that makes it easier is a win in my book!
I was dreading to have to replace a 100' hose because I left the sprinkler on the end and it rusted on so completely that I can't turn it one bit. Thank you for such a good video on replacing the ends. And also for the good vs. cheap ones as well. New subscriber here!
Well done video :) I saw another video (nameless) where every mistake you warned about, he did and then posted anyway. Both instructive in their way.
Thank you, super helpful!
Thanks for the information. I’ll try fixing both sides of the hose so I won’t be wet.
Great video. Very detailed
Thank you so much, its helpful
nice repair. This happens to everyone.
Yeah, more times than I'd care to admit!
I trim off the outer edge of the ferrule which essentially leaves the equivalent of the repair piece you purchased. Then the rest is the same; trim the hose, insert the connector, add the hose clamp.
Thank you. That was so helpful
thank you very helpful
I found a push on end at LOWE'S the other day, it's made by Orbit, it's made of plastic and cost about $3.00, I tryed it and it works great, didn't leak, easy to install no tools,
Thanks for sharing your experience, Keith. I've found that over the long term those push-on ends don't last very long - they tend to blow off the end of the hose, especially if you have a hose nozzle attached and forget to turn off the water! (yes, it happened to me - found the spray nozzle about 10 feet away!).
@@GardeningProductsReview you really made my hose blow during this video, ya dirty dog!
Thank you!
You're Awesome! Thank you!
I have tried them all. The one I find that works really well are sold at Wal-Mart, believe it or not. They are plastic and you screw one piece into the other making a really tight mend. They are yellow and black in color and are only two dollars and change.
I love her. She is terrific 🌹
Good video. Both the following type work. Home depot has similar. Barbed female (1/2" hose I.D.)for cheap pocket hose) are in plumbing section and Gimour clamp type male and female (only 5/8 hose I.D.) are in the gardening section by hoses.
Thanks for pointing out where to find the parts - it can sometimes be like a scavenger hunt to track them down!
Excellent, your experience shows. Well done video. Good looking legs too!
to push it is really hard, thanks for the trick ,soak to the boil water.
Heat shrink tubing works great instead of electrical tape and will outlast the hose, can be purchased at Lowe's, homedepot
I never thought of that. Thanks for the suggestion, Keith! We use that stuff for electrical wiring so I don't see why it wouldn't work on a hose. I'll have to try it next time!
Thank you for helping me save my great hose. I would only change one thing and recommend that you buy a product with a clamp that doesn't reach out and cut you. Then, you wouldn't need to use electrical tape.
I use a little grease to put the new part in the hose.
Thankyou
nice video... better than boiling hot water is to dab the male brass barb end with a little silicone grease (like super lube) all across on the end, then the barb can be easily pushed in the hose with minimum effort. super lube silicone grease is a food grade grease and it would have no negative impact on your hands or on the garden..... Heating up the hose with boiling water will reduce its integrity over the long run.
Good video but it would have been helpful if you had demonstrated how to use the third type of end, the one with the prongs sticking out all around it.. that's the kind I bought and I was very excited when I saw that you had it in your video yet you did not demonstrate how to use it
When I get those ends so tight up to the female connector, I have a hard time twisting it onto the faucet.
Thank you for the video. I followed your steps and repaired mine for the male end... But ..it's still leaking. I'm not sure what's going on. When I pushed the male end into the hose, it's sort of loose. It seems pretty tight in your video. I'm 100% sure its 5/8" .
Try warming it up. A hand torch or a good blow dryer on high for a few minutes. You don’t want the hose to melt, just shrink up a little.
Ours keeps popping off, not sure what the issue is. We have tried both ways.
I’m in love. You are belle.
Cool fix but I found a better product. It is made by Expert Gardner and called a Push-fit Male/Female hose mender for $2.75 All you have to do is to cut the hose correctly where needed and slide the mender piece in. No other tools required. They also have a coupler version in case the leak/repair is too far along the length of the hose and you do not want to end up with a shorter hose. This last one may not be too good of a solution if you have the hose inside a reel, because it may not reel-up perfectly.
MY PLASTIC HOSE CONNECTIONS HAVE LASTED AT LEAST 10-12 YEARS , THE HOSE IS MORE LIKELY TO DETERIORATE BEFORE THE CONNECTORS.
You're gonna need something to push it in. yes this is called a man With muscles. You're beautiful anyways just so that way you know.
volume is too low
VolklgirlKat The volume is Great on my phone.☺️
Cheesy hose repair I would think by now there would be a better way to repair a hose end to look more like the crimped end of a new hose.
Totally agree. Sometimes I don't think hose companies want you to repair it - they'd rather have you buy a new hose.
Thank you so much.
