I don't know why i just don't like this story. I can't really find any real complaints with it i just don't like it and i can't figure out why

Can't finish this narcissistic mess of a story.
They had data that could have revealed and revolutionized human and alien galactic knowledge.
And they pissed it away for their next high.
Did they even think of transmitting that data to earth and preserve that knowledge???
I didn't finish the story...so I don't know for certain...
After their sun diving adventure...they made me care less than nothing for their self-imposed disaster.
The characters lacked any empathic or emotional draw...or any forethought for a better future for all.
Just getting their next chemical high...pathetic in the extreme...equivalent to drug addicts.
