When it comes to dresses that are too short, I turn them into a top, and wear with a skirt, I also wear strapless dresses as skirts.

Last summer I went to and Eddie Bauer outlet because I needed a new spring coat. Lucky me! I found 2 modest skirts. One is is a maxi; the other is just below the knee. They're really cute, and easy to take care of, which is a plus.

If you look for dress patterns from the 1980s you'll find lots of modest choices. High necks, long hemlines, looser, flowing long sleeves were all popular. Hems can be lowered to maxi length pretty easily. Although not every woman sews, most of us know someone who does. Just an idea!

Hi, as a 14 year old girl I'm pushed to dress in a certain way by peer pressure. I'm a godly girl and my family and some friends always tell me I'm beautiful without makeup and in a skirt/dress. All the thrift stores around me have skirts that look like something a old lady would where. I'm just having trouble with finding youthful modest clothing in my area.
I used to think that there aren't anything both modest and beautiful in the area I live in but as I kept searching I've found some good places where I buy clothes now. I'll tell you a good tip :) I shop at goodwill on sundays . I know most people don't believe in doing anything on sundays . We are Pentecostal, in a small town we drive an hour away to 2 goodwill stores . I buy a lot of my clothing there . Especially maxi skirts , long sleeved shirts to go with and dresses . They also have home things . I know goodwill is expensive but in some cities I've been to on Sunday , they have a color of the week which is different tags they tag the clothing . Yesterday it was grey so it meant Sunday everything with a grey tag is 99 cents . I only shop there the days , they have 99 cent sales because they can be pretty expensive! But if you haven't checked it definitely check it out they always have good deals especially if you go once or twice a month it's good to find new things . They also sale things out of season .
Also sometimes I buy a tank top dress or shirts with decoration that are a little showy but I will layer something under it like a long sleeve or a tank top :)
I also really love the idea of praying before shopping. I have had so much trouble finding good clothes in my area... only one thrift shop and I have not found much modesty even there. I actually am looking at learning to sow. we don't have much means but I have a machine. our only other option is internet shopping, but I want to try things on before buying and avoid shipping. I am going to pray, that makes so much sense!

Currently, Old Navy has a ton of camisoles in all sorts of colours. They have a lace trimming, making them feminine, and I turn they backwards so they are even more modest! ;) May Jesus bless you!!

I'd also like to add that it can be invaluable to learn some basic sewing. For instance if you find a skirt you love and it happens to have a high slit you can add a panel in a different color and you have something unique, modest, and supper cute. If you find something in a thrift store that is too big you can learn to take it in. If you find a top for summer and don't want the added heat of a Cami you can sew a faux Cami right into the neck line.

I have found Goodwill to be a good place to find cheap, modest clothes. The jeans there are also very cheap and you can find easy sewing tutorials for jean skirts/other skirts. A skirt was actually the first thing I sewed. Look up MeeshaTv's diy long skirt. It is so easy I absolutely love it!

Shalom. For those who wear scrubs, I work in surgery. Most scrub tops that I have come across only have a pocket at chest level. One on the inside and one on the outside. I have come to the conclusion that these are not made for girls (women). Being 5'1/2" now☹️, I got tired of the guys looking down on my 'lace'. I wear loose tops and putting my phone, pen and paper for notes make it hang down sometimes showing my bra from a taller person's view point. To remedy that I wear an undershirt backwards. That way nothing shows from my neck down. Plus I can match the undershirt with my scrub hat and look fashionable. It took a little getting used to, but now I'm uncomfortable without it. When JACO comes thru just put a pin to close the neckline or take another scrub top and turn it backwards. Blessings.
You are so wise beyond your years!! Which means that you are very open to recieving and practicing the wisdom and discernment that our Lord gives to you. There is a growing movement of AP women making loads of UA-cam videos about modesty, but I have a problem with many of their videos. They're still showing off their "modest" outfits while wearing stillhetto heals in skirt lengths that brush the top of their calf, still showing off a very sexy leg look to the men around them. And buying their fashions all from popular brand name retailers. While the whole point of modesty is NOT to draw attention to yourself, these AP women seem to still be doing exactly that - drawing a great deal of attention to themselves and practically shouting "Look at ME. Look at how modest I am!". Defeats the whole purpose. I believe they are practicing more out of a culture they've simply grown up in, and not a genuine heart for the Lord, and true modesty of heart. You speak with tremendous maturity. 💕🤗 I have found a great many beautiful long skirts in thrift shops in excellent condition. No reason to HAVE to wear Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe to be in style. The AP women are also all about tremendouly high piled hair styles... all but ignoring the scripture they themselves quote: avoiding the braiding and adornment of the hair for glory. Instead, they frequently quote "the higher the hair, the closer to God". I know they say it jokingly, but with thousands of videos now about how to pile up your "crowning glory", they're still practically shouting "look at me!" YOU, sweet girl, have got a tactful, truly modest grip on reality and I just appreciate your humble approach SO much.❤❤❤

+kara__kats not on an everyday basis! I only wear jeans (loose with a long tunic top) when riding a horse, or working on a roof (helped with a construction project) and looser tapered pants for exercising sometimes under a shorter skirt or as PJs - i also wear loose capris swimming! :)

To sum up very shortly why I don't wear jewelry (and makeup (especially colorful) similarly for the same reasons, but there are also some different reasons) is the following. In these last days before Jesus comes to gather His faithful children, God is giving us time to be reunited with Him fully by faith, and when we accept, love and have true faith in Jesus, His righteousnes becomes ours...by beholding Him we become changes (2 Cor. 3:18)...God has called us to be holy even as He is holy...but only by the grace of God leading us to have an active faith that works by love, can we become sanctified. When we truly accept God's grace, we allow Him to make us new creatures. And to truly be Christ, self must die and Christ must live (Galatians 2:20)...self/selfishness is the root of all sin - it's the opposite of love - God's character! So as I am seeking for my selfishness/ "self" to die that I may be sanctified by God and fit for heavenly communion with Jesus and selfless angels, I don't want to fall into the same sin that Satan (then Lucifer) did. In Ezekiel 28 and Isaiah 14 we see that Lucifer fell because of His pride in His outward beauty! He was decked with jewels all over his breastplate! I am a weak sinner and I don't want to allow any small way to fall in a similar way as Satan did..I choose not to wear jewelry because I don't want to glorify myself or my personal beauty; I want self to die and Christ to live...I want Jesus to be seen in me and all I do, not pretty/glitzy jewels and extras...just sweet beautiful simplicity that helps to keep the mind on incorruptible heavenly things! There are many more biblical reasons as to why I don't wear jewelry and believe that God doesn't want us to, but I will try to make a more detailed video! I will also be sharing the info under the "beautiful naturally" section of the ministry website! I hope that helps a bit! God bless!

I have found Goodwill to be a good place to find cheap, modest clothes. The jeans there are also very cheap and you can find easy sewing tutorials for jean skirts/other skirts. A skirt was actually the first thing I sewed. Look up MeeshaTv's diy long skirt. It is so easy I absolutely love it!

I do not know you personally but I like what you say about praying. About the words of Jesus: "Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." So I thought this means - God is the greatest designer - why not ask Him for some beautiful pieces of clothes?! :)

Shalom. For those who wear scrubs, I work in surgery. Most scrub tops that I have come across only have a pocket at chest level. One on the inside and one on the outside. I have come to the conclusion that these are not made for girls (women). Being 5'1/2" now☹️, I got tired of the guys looking down on my 'lace'. I wear loose tops and putting my phone, pen and paper for notes make it hang down sometimes showing my bra from a taller person's view point. To remedy that I wear an undershirt backwards. That way nothing shows from my neck down. Plus I can match the undershirt with my scrub hat and look fashionable. It took a little getting used to, but now I'm uncomfortable without it. When JACO comes thru just put a pin to close the neckline or take another scrub top and turn it backwards. Blessings.

You are so wise beyond your years!! Which means that you are very open to recieving and practicing the wisdom and discernment that our Lord gives to you. There is a growing movement of AP women making loads of UA-cam videos about modesty, but I have a problem with many of their videos. They're still showing off their "modest" outfits while wearing stillhetto heals in skirt lengths that brush the top of their calf, still showing off a very sexy leg look to the men around them. And buying their fashions all from popular brand name retailers. While the whole point of modesty is NOT to draw attention to yourself, these AP women seem to still be doing exactly that - drawing a great deal of attention to themselves and practically shouting "Look at ME. Look at how modest I am!". Defeats the whole purpose. I believe they are practicing more out of a culture they've simply grown up in, and not a genuine heart for the Lord, and true modesty of heart. You speak with tremendous maturity. 💕🤗 I have found a great many beautiful long skirts in thrift shops in excellent condition. No reason to HAVE to wear Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe to be in style. The AP women are also all about tremendouly high piled hair styles... all but ignoring the scripture they themselves quote: avoiding the braiding and adornment of the hair for glory. Instead, they frequently quote "the higher the hair, the closer to God". I know they say it jokingly, but with thousands of videos now about how to pile up your "crowning glory", they're still practically shouting "look at me!" YOU, sweet girl, have got a tactful, truly modest grip on reality and I just appreciate your humble approach SO much.❤❤❤

+kara__kats not on an everyday basis! I only wear jeans (loose with a long tunic top) when riding a horse, or working on a roof (helped with a construction project) and looser tapered pants for exercising sometimes under a shorter skirt or as PJs - i also wear loose capris swimming! :)

Tiffany Coleman Hi!! I'm so sorry that I am just now seeing this! Praise God and I am praying for you! And yes, I plan to share a bit about that in the future! I will try to write you back asap! To sum up very shortly why I don't wear jewelry (and makeup (especially colorful) similarly for the same reasons, but there are also some different reasons) is the following. In these last days before Jesus comes to gather His faithful children, God is giving us time to be reunited with Him fully by faith, and when we accept, love and have true faith in Jesus, His righteousnes becomes ours...by beholding Him we become changes (2 Cor. 3:18)...God has called us to be holy even as He is holy...but only by the grace of God leading us to have an active faith that works by love, can we become sanctified. When we truly accept God's grace, we allow Him to make us new creatures. And to truly be Christ, self must die and Christ must live (Galatians 2:20)...self/selfishness is the root of all sin - it's the opposite of love - God's character! So as I am seeking for my selfishness/ "self" to die that I may be sanctified by God and fit for heavenly communion with Jesus and selfless angels, I don't want to fall into the same sin that Satan (then Lucifer) did. In Ezekiel 28 and Isaiah 14 we see that Lucifer fell because of His pride in His outward beauty! He was decked with jewels all over his breastplate! I am a weak sinner and I don't want to allow any small way to fall in a similar way as Satan did..I choose not to wear jewelry because I don't want to glorify myself or my personal beauty; I want self to die and Christ to live...I want Jesus to be seen in me and all I do, not pretty/glitzy jewels and extras...just sweet beautiful simplicity that helps to keep the mind on incorruptible heavenly things! There are many more biblical reasons as to why I don't wear jewelry and believe that God doesn't want us to, but I will try to make a more detailed video! I will also be sharing the info under the "beautiful naturally" section of the ministry website! I hope that helps a bit! God bless!
