Can you find this song in Spotify? :)

shiny in reo tahitian and Lycrs please
I never knew Tahitian was so beautiful.
I have never heard Tahitian before today. It’s honestly so beautiful. Gonna have to add it to the languages to study list honestly.
Conversational Tahitian by D.T. Tryton is the most reliable and up to date, and easiest resource to find for Tahitian, at least in English. I’d imagine French is a lot easier to find resources on Tahitian for.
Mandarin is on my study list too.
ye
Just keep going study,, I hope the best you can achieve. This is polinesian language (based on disney sources) a little bit similar type to austronesian language.
Today I never heard Tahitian.

I loved that too

I thought I'm the only one to like this part
But after going through the comment section I came to know that I'm not alone.
Btw, The Singer's voice is amazing and the language is beautiful too.
maopopo iaʻu pololei?
i love that part
That's my favorite part so pretty
I agree the singer and language are beautiful
Yes, it was as if the song was written for the dialogue. The lyricist was a genius!
So the actual meaning of 'moana' was the 'ocean'. Interesting.
Angel'SChannel Wings in pretty much every Polynesian language, Moana means ocean. So maybe Chief Tui messed up naming his daughter after the ocean if he didn’t want her going there lol
In Rapanui (Easter Island) Moana also means blue
Grandma Tala's name, Tala means star in Filipino
@Shweky I think they changed her name from "Moana" to "Vaiana" in the Tahitian version to lighten the load of "Moanas" lol
Finn Jacobson ya they did
As a tahitian myself, I'm very proud of what they did with this song (the singer is Sabrina Laughlin), and love all the comments about the beauty of our language Thank you all
Tahitian is such a beautiful language 🌺
I've never heard of the language of Tahitian. This is what I first heard. But it is very impressive. Especially, the sound of 'moemoea' is very very cute to me. I think It's definitely the best Moana OST in all languages I've ever heard. It mostly suits moana's image. The pronunciation of Tahitian is marvelous and also singer's voice is so sweet. I'm very happy to hear this. Thank you.
The "moemoea" got me too. i love this version, and i have no clue whatsoever on how to speak anythink in this language.
Same the moemoea is so cute
I think it is because it is, like all Polynesian language, very very vocalic. They have very few consonants, absolutely no consonant clusters or words ending in consonants whatsoever, and instead love long strings of vowels. It makes them very singable. Tahitian in particular is virtually unique on the entire planet in not having a k or a g (or any other sound at all at the back of the throat). Sounds at the back of the throat tend to sound harsher so the effect of missing them altogether is a very sweet musical language.
Hye i'm tahitian, yes moemoea it's a beautiful word that means Dream in tahitian
@@greomgh yes, we tend to decompose the consonant clusters (Christ becomes Kirito) or add a vowel sound at the end (David becomes Tavita) when borrowing from other language (mostly english and french)
but we have the glottal stop (or glottal plosive). you can hear a lot of those at 0:31 😊
ps: also we 'roll' the Rs, like, a lot 🤣
0:31 fav part of the song!!
same
Fr tho
I love how vowel-based this language is! Hopefully, people keep speaking it, not only their colonists' languages.
More like being open syllable
We speak Tahitian and will always do ;)
I honestly would like to learn Tahitian from this video it’s a beautiful language
Austronesian sailors lost their consonants as they move further east. I wonder why?
It’s not an endangered language. And that’s great
Now, I appreciate that they rewrote the song to sound better in Tahitian. It's a refreshing change of pace for my language to not be given center stage for once. Every time the song doesn't quite flow in English, I imagine how great it must sound in Tahitian.
0:31 should be a part of satisfying videos..❤️
it's cool because a polynesian language is "Moana's" native language
Christopher Santy maori
te reo Māori
@@cainasuwan4655 the story take place more o less 2500 years ago , so the lenguage it's proto-polynesian
@@cainasuwan4655 both are austronesian
Christopher Santy that would be the maōri dub but yes you are correct.
the song should have been in this language in the movie just with subtitles
True
@sunny but drip I think Moana is either Tongan or Samoan because the story is an explanation for the 1000 year break that Western Polynesians took before discovering the rest of Eastern Polynesia. So logically, when Moana leaves her island at the end of the movie, she heads straight for the Society Islands of which Tahiti is a part.
0:31 is by far the best/prettiest part!
1:38 my favorite part of this. the flow, the EMOTION. the lyrics here is so passionate too.
Omg I'm Brazilian and idk why but I love this version of the song
The lyrics just really match with the instrumental
especially in 0:31 ♥
I totally agree. 0:31 is my favorite part!
I've never heard this language before but I love it!
That's my favorite part too😍😃

@Manoa no I said maybe I'm not the only person who speaks Hawaiian I was said that my father was Hawaiian and my Japanese mother so I know Japanese and a little bit of Hawaiian yes I misunderstood because I'm still learning
@Manoa aww I like how nice you thank you I hope you have a great day
There is a word "metua" which means "father" it closely similar with my languange (bahasa indonesia) "mertua" which means "father in law" and there is also have a word "mata" which means "eyes" it is same again in my language (bahasa indonesia) "mata" which means "eyes". Beautiful Languages 😄😄
Yes, your both language are Austronesian languages. Your ancestors, the Austronesian peoples, were the same for Malaysian, Indonesian, and Polynesian people :)
mata means eyes too in the philippines. hi fellow austronesians!😁
@@stresstabss2 Right...I'm from Indonesian and live in North Sulawesi(Souht of Philippines)
Actually "metua" means someone older than you not especially your father it can be your parents, grand-parents, teachers...
@@oceanejoie8061 in Indonesian, 'tua' means old
the words during 0:31 and little afterwards sound so disconnected from each other, i love it it sounds amazing.
I love how this version ties the song directly to the reprise it's given in "I Am Moana."
this is such a beautiful language!
Whoooa!! 1:28 hits HARD!! Great rhythm!
I find this version is way more powerful than the original, both are good but this one just... feels right...
And it’s my first time hearing the language.
Как красиво. Особенно момент понравился когда Моана шла к океану.
the tīpae-tāpae part was so cheeky, love the translyrics!
I absolutely love this-
Tahitian is such a nice and fun sounding language!
It’s so amazing how Disney loves the culture in its films that they do special language dubbings for the culture in that film, like for Encanto they’re doing Spanish versions in cinemas and for moana they have the Tahitian dub
so catchy, rhythmic and rhyming.. "na te ara ti ara, nate e ati a" (spelled differently oc).
Omg I love it, never heard Tahitian before, and it's beautiful!
This is the first time I heard the language Tahitian and Listened to it , I'm out of words.
I always wished that Disney films were made specifically for the princesses native language, then dubbed into all the other languages. For example, Moana would firstly be made for the Tahitian language, then dubbed into English.
Elsa/Anna - Norwegian
Mulan - Chinese
Rapunzel - German
Merida - Scottish Gaelic
Jasmine - Arabic
So on, so fourth. Its my deepest desire when it comes to Disney
Singer is Sabrina Laughlin
This sounds so beautiful in Tahitian! I like it, how when she talks fast it breaks a little bit (I mean, that she says the words so clearly) (sorry, English isn't my first language). 👏👏👏
Hmm, did they use an alternate name for Moana in the Tahitian dub since her name means "ocean"?
Such a beautiful language though. I truly hope that the peoples of Polynesia keep speaking their ancestral tongues instead of assimilating into other cultures.
Christopher Fleming they did not change her name. In Europe though, those versions of Moana are named Vaianna
Christopher Fleming we still keep on speaking this language but less than before😭😇
The name is the same, but the pronunciation is a bit different.
@@Firegirl483 like Vagina? Lmaoooooooooo

i didn’t know this language was this gorgeous, honestly it’s so beautiful, as a french and japanese girl i really prefer this version than the french and japanese one

3 years later we got the rest of the songs in Reo Tahiti

Oh my goodness... This gives me chills! :D It's incredibly beautiful!

This language is so beautiful! I instantly fell in love
This is so magical omg
I love this translation of "How far I'll go" because of all the references to Tahitian culture in the movie.
1. Moana literally means ocean
2. In "You're Welcome" the line "I killed an eel, buried its guts, sprouted a tree now you got coconuts" is a reference to "The Princess and the Eel," which is a Tahitian tale.
3. "...your welcome, for the islands I pulled from the sea," is also a reference to a Tahitian story.
There are a lot more call backs to Tahitian culture, but too many to put here. The point is, I love this translation!
Sāmoan myths also have a myth between a girl named Sina and an eel. As for the island reference, Maori believe that Maui pulled New Zealand from the sea.
Pretty much all of the polynesians cultures are related in one way or another but there's still a lot of diversity in all of them and i think that's beautiful!
Coming back to this. Glad I'm not the only one who really likes 0:32
What a cute language 😊😊😊😊
Beautiful version. I loved it
This lenguage is so beautiful :D 💙
I’ve just started learning Polynesian culture and language I think it’s very cool
Heureux de voir que la langue de Tahiti est mit en avant.
I'm currently watching the movie in tahitian ans it's beautiful
Tu as raison.

They should have done the whole movie in tahitian and put subtitles in english.
It is said that the actual native language of the people's in the Moana movie is the Maori people and language, however with Tahitian provided as well, because they are of Polynesian Islands, it could be several languages and dialects, just as many as there are in Polynesia.
that's ridiculous. have you been to new zealand? it looks nothing like any of the visual in moana. tahiti, or hawaii look the most similar, but they blended stories from all over polynesia.
I’m actually singing along right now even though I never tried it before. So easy with the lyrics!

Does anyone know how to say "I will follow my dreams" in Tahitian?
Tahitian language has so many ways to express your ideas as the right translation often depends on the context.... However, you can say this : "E apee au i to'u nei mau opuaraa" ... this is the closest translation ;)
@@enaydneel251
Don’t forget the eta ( ‘ or ’ ) you can’t stick two vowels together.
So the most correct phrase would be:
E ‘āpe’e vau i tō‘u moemoeā (Futur)
For the Present and Past you say:
Tē ‘āpe’e nei au i tō’u moemoeā (Present)
‘Ua ‘āpe’e vau i tō’u moemoeā (Past)
You can’t use "nei" because "nei" is a mark of present implying that the action is unfolding itself as we speak.
Don’t forget that "vau" becomes "au" if the letter before is either an "a" or an "i".
‘Ua here vau ia ‘oe (I love you)
Since the letter before the word "vau" is "here" and ends with the letter "e" then it’s "vau" not "au".
Tē ‘amu nei au (I am eating)
Since the word before the word "au" is "nei" and ends with the letter "i" then "vau" becomes "au".
For the future you can also use (‘Ua) but only when the action has already started, this is what’s called "Future Antérieur" in French.
You also use ‘Ua for actions that are timeless.
if the context of the phrase doesn’t make you know that the action started then you use (E), that’s "Future de l’indicatif" in French.
And why did you say mau or ‘ōpuara’a?
‘ōpuara’a means drawing
