What a reel ! Thanks Gary for sending it in for a initial look. Yep smaller spool size for the C or compact models. Compared to regular 2500S. Awsome few good features on new Stella hopefully they’ll show up on the next Vanquish. Believe the Shimano’s quick response series such as the Vanquish-Vanford can’t be beat. Mind you Stella is top of the line if your fishing and mounting it on heavier rods and fishing in rougher conditions. Thanks Victor for another honest and insightful review.
Looking forward to your on the water review, The spool on the c2500s Shimanos are the same diameter as the c2000s just deeper for more line capacity. I have two soares xr, the c2000SS and the c2500S and the rotor and spool diameters are exactly the same.
@@E47irfan your two reels are a size under the 2500s, if it was a c2500s then I’m pretty sure they would be compatible. 2500,2500S,C3000 are all interchangeable but they are a size over the 1000s,c2000,c2500s. I hope this helps
the spools on C2500S and C2000S are not the same on this Stella, although they are interchangeable, like miguel said. Diameter is different, not the depth. On the Soare they are the same diameter but this is an exception rather than the rule. Usually the C2500 models have 1000 size body and a spool that is larger than 2000 size, and if not larger in diameter, at least has more capacity.
I purchased the C2000 from digitaka. This particular size comes with the small finesse knob. I had to switch it out with a regular flat knob. When comparing to my other 18 stella, its hard to tell a difference in smoothness. They both feel the same. They are my smoothest reels. Lower inertia than my 22 Exist and 18 Exit also.
Digitaka is hit and miss. This reel is from Digitaka too, but i want to mail it to you to try it. Its like the body is full with 5W30 and when u drive you are splashing liquid inside. I fished it today and I am nuts about this reel. I want to buy it from him, even though its a weird size, just because I know when i buy the size I want i will get a reel that will not be as perfect. But if you can't tell a difference between your stella and your older reels, even though they are both amazing,.. it just confirms my opinion that even the Stellas are not all perfect. Also I commend your objectivity to say something like this - that your new Stella feels the same as the old Stella. It doesn't matter if they are both perfect - very few people would say that. Sometimes I say that in my videos and people appreciate it. But with all of this said, i still tell you, i am NUTS about this stella in my hands.

@@ifishcatfish I wanna say no because I don't actually have that model and like you said its through a video so its hard to compare. I do however like the sound it makes though, although I wish it was a bit more metallic.
Hi, I just purchased a Stella FK C3000XG but I find there is a scrubbing noise from body when reeling the handle, it is smooth but feels like there is some friction inside the reel, is that normal out of the box?
in abstract - yes. But in reality the models sold in japan have different options. For example slow gear ratio is offered only in Japan because here in the US people think it is something bad, when actually fast gear ratio is bad
@JLTFishing yeah I always go jdm for ultralight stella etc because of the lower gear. It's better torque and helps better when you're finesse fishing.
You think the decreased oscillation is part of the longer cast theory where the line doesn’t crisscross across the spool as much? The advantage may also be you can lay more line onto the spool because the is less crossover, making it equal in line capacity as other brand’s larger spool? That might be OK in the smaller size spools but wonder if it’s also used in the larger ones where potential is increased of the braid getting embedded with higher drag… 🤔🤔🤔🤔
wowwwww, you got all the key points. I don't believe criss cross matters in casting at all, but i think it does matter how u lay line, and DOES increase spool capacity. Technically, since the top layer of line takes less resistance than the layer underneath to exit the spool (due to angle), and how u have more line on the top layer, you can make some argument that theoretically it will increase the distance, but again, this is not because criss-cross makes resistance or something, its because of superior line lay. and yes, I would DEFINITELY not use these reels for braid! Even when i do panfish with braid, every now and then i get a pull and then i have to pull the line out with my hands on shimanos
i dont like slow oscillation. the line like drop more to bottom of spool if you use jerk bait or bait with slack line techniques. if use lure that has tight winding like crank there's no problem. i have the stella 1000.
Nothing to worry to have the dig badly unless u fighting at high tension with handle which is no no fight , yrs lived by worm gear osc never ever it’s an issue but rather a must have feature for those who r looking for a bit greater distance .

@@ifishcatfish Shimano do it differently than Daiwa! Daiwa 1000 body 2500 spool/rotor, Shimano 2500 body 1000 spool/rotor (well thats what they say but honestly the body still seems slightly smaller than an actual shimano 2500's 🤔) confusing but its how they do it haha.
@@gman69455 No it isn't, in Vanquish and Vanford it is as I stated, and in Stella FK and new Vanquish a C2500's spool and rotor are smaller and a completely different build than the 2500, they're the exact same spool and rotor found on the 1000 and C2000 size reels, the only difference between 1000 C2000 and C2500 is spool width and handle length, as you go up the spool gets a little wider and the handle a little longer, but that's it. And no it's a 1000 body, that is why it isn't called just 2000, it's called C2000.
Victor, on a semi-related note I picked up a Procyon AL 2000 on a good sale. It turns out this is an LT reel with only the base frame made out of aluminum. What caught me off-guard, though, was what I saw when I removed the spool... unlike the Procyon LT it has a bottom side spool support bearing.
