Hi. Great questions. I booked a tour through Viator. We met the tour just outside the gate of the Vatican and went in and they purchased the tickets. You are able to buy the tickets on your own. When you go to the Vatican you will see a long line to your right. Go to the left of the entrance of the basilica and you will see where you can buy tickets. You will take an elevator up a couple floors to get you to the roof top. You have great views there and then you can go into the stairwell for the climb. Have fun!

Is it possible buying the individual ticket online via Vatican Museums website? Or only at Vatican City?
I bought mine online through Viator if I remember correctly.
