Shoutouts to John Tanaka for casually Mr. Magoo-ing his way through multiple assassination attempts *and* accidentally foiling the smuggling operation.
Sniper Pico is indeed an interesting character, but it is funny how he fell each and everytime to Tanaka's "unintentional" behaviors in this episode. xD
So, Pico... This guy's a bit of a conundrum in F-Zero, particularly in regards to the anime adaptation which was aimed at younger audiences than the main series. In the main series, Pico is an antihero of the "nominal hero" type. He is _technically_ one of the good guys in that he directly opposes Black Shadow, but he's also a bloodthirsty madman who loves causing carnage and mayhem, and apparently he's even cannibalistic. Although the big accident mentioned in F-Zero X's background wasn't really his fault, Black Shadow was the one who rigged his machine to explode. The anime puts him through a complete 180, both in allegiances and personality. While he's still definitely not a nice guy in the anime, he's more of a calm, calculated killer... who works for Black Shadow (well, technically for Zoda, but Zoda works for Black Shadow so yeah...). Honestly, I kinda like the more _technically_ morally ambiguous version from the main series than his anime incarnation, but both versions of Pico are interesting. I mentioned on James McCloud's episode that they just took his occupation and ignored the entire rest of his bio, they seemed to do that with Pico as well but this time it kinda worked. As for Captain Tanaka's dream sequence and obsession with Kate Allen, this is actually 100% accurate to the main series. I know there's the whole thing with Jody in GX but Tanaka's bio in X actually states that he has a crush on Kate, not Jody.
This is one of the best chapters, to be honest, or at the very least, one of the most funny ones. This episode alone makes Tanaka into a top tier character, lol! I'm watching the series again after, wow, two years, and I'm enjoying it much like the first time. Thanks for uploading it! Very high quality subtitles! Though there's a couple grammar errors in some episodes, I can appreciate all the work that went into this. I'm very thankful since I wouldn't have watched this otherwise.

Since my short-term memory isn't spectacular, I can't pinpoint to where the errors would exactly be, even though I watched the episodes recently. But at least, there's the clue that I'm watching the series in order, so they would be before episode 14 :P I'll make a point to write down all errors I notice from now on, with respective timestamps, and Private Message you the list afterwards. Does that sound acceptable?

You know, this is the last episode that was dubbed in English, and now I just want the Nintendo Anime channel to do English dub of the other 36 episodes, don't you agree?
the Don of Creativity A re-dub won't change much from the original. US (4Kids) doesn't want "violent" content from Japanese anime. (For example, when Zoda shoots from his gun in the first episode it's laser beams in the english dub and gun bullets in the japanese one). You probably already know all this but whatever.
+Megalegacy I never understood why kids shows do that, I mean, I guess laser guns are more fantasy, but is burning them to death really better? Its not like anyone ever gets hit in these shows anyway, so why not use regular guns?

I'm trying to suspend my disbelief and enjoy this children's show, but really? John falls out of the back of shipping truck and smashes out of a crate and Pico is JUST RIGHT THERE with a stolen taxi and picks him up, no questions about why he smashed out of a crate? There was no time delay, the taxi showed up like 1 second after John fell out of the back of the truck, with no reaction from Pico. I love the F-Zero franchise, but at these points, I have to just remind myself, "Relax, this show was made for kids." I want it to be cooler than it is, though. Some episodes have been great, like Antonio Guster's.
Well it could make some sense. Pico was looking into John's room with his rifle, so he might have seen him get into the crate get shipped, or simply saw him do it off screen. Then he trailed him in a taxi when he saw the package getting loaded into the truck. Also you gotta admit it was kinda funny how Pico was right there .2 seconds after he fell out of the truck.
