The next time one runs you into the prop roots, try opening the bail for a couple of minutes. Most times they'll come right back out. There's no tension on the line, so a lot less chance of it getting cut. Just a suggestion...it works.
I know this isn't the only way to use pin fish for bait, but it is definitely one of my favorites. Let me know if you try it and how it works. Also share what is your favorite bait and how do you use it?
Great tips I live on the Laguna Madre in Corpus Christi. I always trap Pin Perch. I was told by an old salt to cut off the pins. But cutting off the tail too is a great idea. Will let you know how it works.
Great video. Wish more videos were so clear cut on methods. I'm about to take a trip to Naples FL with a crew mate of mine to do some kayak fishing and I'm def going to try this method!
Thanks 😊 If you saw where this spot was located you would be shocked! I’ll just say that people drive past this spot all day long and never think to fish it just because of how far away it isn’t …
I haven't had the best of luck on a float but don't let that stop you... but I will say a knocker rig works great 👍 thanks for watching let me know how it works for you
I totally sign off on this... did the exact same method with the mullet i used to catch that monster redfish in my Sharkathon video. Absolutely works like a charm! (Sorry about that snook though man!)
Tried it out last night off big carlos bridge captain. Two times the bridge trolls totally pulled the pants off my 8000 penn battle. Must be Goliath or black drum. I forgot about the tip, so first half hour nothing hit the pins, but with tail chopped, had the first run in 5 minutes. Great tip, will be using every time, thanks!
Thank you for the advice on the cut bait but what about catching them for survival to eat or share with people who are hungry that need food without all the Hollywood sports fake B.S.? Some little white kids taught me in Florida what you are doing in this video how to fish with cut bait and I must say it do work, and thumbs up for keeping my mind on it 😊👍🐟🎣💦
Hey Don, sorry for the late reply been crazy busy and haven’t been on here. Generally no I don’t use any weight. However If I’m fishing deep docks or i just want to try it yes I’ll throw a sliding egg on the line to hold the pin down. Thanks and good luck 👍
I plan on doing a video about how to get pinfish but if they don’t live in your area ,you can honestly do this with any bait fish that you have. I have successfully used the same trick on many types of bait fish. Thanks for watching 👍
I bet you would love to know the secret … I will have to make a video on this but, here’s basic idea just dont tell anybody 🤫 what I do is stack elements. So for instance structure, current, or depth change. Don’t just look for one find somewhere with all 3. And don’t get married to a “spot” fish move and so should you. I fished 3 spots making this video first 2 were duds 3rd was holding fish.
This is the most depraved and sadistic thing I've seen in my life.
ummmm....? thankyou ?
Guess you don't get out much
you should visit a slaughter house before eating your next big mac
You haven't seen anything yet. Coming fishing with me.
HAHAHAHA Its like you have no idea of what nature truly is like.

Now that's an awesome tip. Just caught a Big Redfish yesterday off of a Live Pinfish. Cutting the tail off is Smart. New subscriber

You're welcome... it's definitely a great method to add to your bag of tricks.

Thanks! ☺️That will be a fun trip. Naples is just south of me. Let me know how if you get into some good fish and how it works for you.
Great tip!!! Never seen that before.
Thanks ☺
I cut off the tail too, but I wasn't hooking them by the tail end. Makes sense, and I'm going to try it.
Cool let me know how it works for you.
Nice job captain 👍🏽
Thanks ☺️
Thats a fishy looking cut your fishing! Good technique on the pinfish too!
Thanks 😊 If you saw where this spot was located you would be shocked! I’ll just say that people drive past this spot all day long and never think to fish it just because of how far away it isn’t …
How do you feel about a tail rigged pin under a popping bobber or is this best free line
I haven't had the best of luck on a float but don't let that stop you... but I will say a knocker rig works great 👍 thanks for watching let me know how it works for you

@@ruskyrosco1054 That's awesome!
Awesome tips sir! Does this work all year? I fish flats a lot and pinfish destroy my baits, and artificials. I’m gonna start using them lol
Works year round. I prefer it when I want the bait to stay in one spot and not swim around to much.

Went out with a guy out of Tampa …. Dude would bite off every tail on the pin fish and we caught the crap out of reds 🤣
Thats pretty hilarious. He gets a A+ for showmanship 😂
Now that's funny as hell I don't care who you are.
Did you add weight to your fish line,?
Hey Don, sorry for the late reply been crazy busy and haven’t been on here. Generally no I don’t use any weight. However If I’m fishing deep docks or i just want to try it yes I’ll throw a sliding egg on the line to hold the pin down. Thanks and good luck 👍
What if you don’t have pin fish? Anything else that works?

@@5thdayadventures I’m buy a pinfish trap from Amazon. Definitely trying to catch some for some mangrove snapper.
How do you find a spot

I don’t think this is on the PETA approved list
LOL - but I’m feeding the hungry fishes 🤣
Great job bro....I'm going to give this a try @@5thdayadventures
