vellankanni is pride of us TAMIL NADU (state in south india )..even being an arthodox hindu my self and our family gone there many time, even in pooja room we kept her picture..! hindus too visit that temple (chruch ) frequently like us ! for us Mother is a mother .. whether its madurai meenakshi ( hindu goddess ) nor Velankanni both r mother ! south india far diff then Northern part of india ,thats our strength and our pride !!

Many people go through that particular stretch of road, on their knees or by rolling on the ground. It is done as a form of self mortification and imploring mother Mary to intercede to her son Jesus to grant us our intention
Innumerable people testify that the prayer request made at that basilica are granted through Mother Mary's intercession. God has granted my prayer request too. Even after three years of my marriage I could not conceive a child . I had taken lots of treatment for this problem but nothing happened ,so I decided to go to this shrine at vailankanni and pray. I literally cried and begged of Mother Mary to pray to her son Jesus to bless me with a gift of a child . Within three months I conceived without any medication but through the grace of God and the great intercession of Mother Mary

A year after the tsunami I had been there in Valankanni ,Tamilnadu , as a group we stayed there for few days, we attended Mass and pray we are told about what happened on that fateful day of tsunami where all the people were safe in the church but all those who are outside they are washed away and died. A miracle indeed . Oh Mother Mary , Mother of God, Mother of good health , Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
During the tsunami nothing in this church was affected even though it stands near the sea .that's the power of mother MAry

Hello..thanks for sharing...this is a place I go every year with my family...the huge church is the Morning Star church which was constructed 10 years ago..there is a daily English mass in the morning ...the main church is the Shrine ..which was originally constructed by the Portugese sailors as a wow made to Our Lady.....the people crawling is for pleading for a wish to be fullfilled or they are responding as a Thanks for a wish been fullfilled...Our Lady will bless you for sure.....thanks Lawrence

Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh are also majority Christian...also Sikkim and Darjeeling district of West Bengal have sizeable christian population..

They are crawling towards the water tank where Our Lady appeared to the milk boy. The tank has miraculous water where people are healed miraculously. Many Indians do it. The main church is the Basilica.

It was an amazing video and I have been to the shrine multiple times.. Well you Missed on visiting the main Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of Good Health Velankanni.. Also in this video as u mentioned that u weren't sure of y people were going kneeling to the miraculous shrine at tank, so here's the reason, that they pray n ask their intentions and petitions to Our Mother hence in honour to fulfil n grant those prayers n petitions/intentions by Our Lady of Velankanni that's a promise made by themselves and one of a kind of way of praying and a promise done to Mother of Velankanni for every intentions that they have offered in front of the Mother to grant it.
Brethren without doubt all the things of God is beautiful, i love them 😁👍👋
The people crawling is a form of devotion that people show to our Lady of Velankanni... people ask for favours n graces to Mother Mary and in turn they promise to offer some form of penance for the blessings obtained through the intercession of Mother Mary.... I didn't know this. I found out about this only recently. People walk for distances as much as 500kms for d big feast day of Our Lady of Velankanni on 8th September..... it's quite a spectacle.... and most of the people visiting this pilgrimage site are Hindus.... its amazing..... I am a catholic n I hv never visited this place.... I wud like to one day....

Been blessed to have been here twice.... Once in 2019 and later in 2020... Looking forward for the third pilgrimage to this amazingly and miraculously blessed site ... With the Lord's grace and Lady of good health's intercession, I believe I will be there again soon.🙏🙏🙏

You have not shown the main entrance and the first big church built in the same place over the old thatched church. It is behind the church that has circular steps to go to the first floor. Except the small church(near the tank), the churches shown by you are relatively new. The old Basilica( behind the circular steps church) which has the beautiful statue of Our Lady of Good Health is the place people mainly come to pray. That is the oldest church. Velankanni means that church and the miraculous statue. Offerings are given there only. Except the most important part of the basilica, U have shown few things only. There is a eucharistic chappel and a small chappel where it is believed Mother appeared for the lame boy and cured his disability. There is a flag post near the old basilica(behind circular step church) erected by the portugese soldiers. You missed the very most important things in UR video. Pl see this basilica in Church's website. It is very famous not only in India, but also people from South Asian countries visit. crowd from all faiths will be thronging thru out the year. It is to be seen to be believed.

Wonderful video of the shrine Basilica of our Lady of good health Vailankanni. Thank you for the full video of all the churches surrounded giving all details of the wonderful miracles of our Lady of good health and all the activities in the different churches. We go on a pilgrimage every year but sad this year we were not able to go. We with our family from Chennai of around 14 people visited this shrine for the last 44 years starting from 1975 to 2019 to thank our Blessed Mother for all the favours and blessings we receive and seeking our Mother Mary to continue to bless us and grant all our petitions for our family and the whole world especially now for the Covid19 virus to disappear from the face of the earth. Our Mother Mary is working and a miracle will definitely happen soon. Please continue to pray and our Lady of good Health Vailankanni will hear all our prayers and save the whole world in the precious time of Her loving son our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you all and be safe with Gods blessings.

The first big church you visited is called The Morning Star, the second one is the called Pudhu Kovil (New Church) or Periya kovil (Big church) and the last one is palaya velankanni kovil (old velankanni church) but the actual Velankanni church at the entrance face the sea.., next time when your in India and want to visit churchs I would be very happy to take you around, all at my cost.. 🙏🏽, I want more people around the world to know about the churchs in India.. 💚🙏🏽

Your comment about the sand walk or sand path for pilgrims.Not only penance but also faithful who are dearly yearning for a favour from Our Lady of Good Health through her intercessions.
Allow me share an anecdote.I am a Malaysian who had visited the shrine twice,did not know anything about the sand path then.A couple of years ago a Hindu news reporter from Malaysia wrote his article about Velankanni.We faithful would consider it as a testimony.Apparenly the reporters friend who is a pilot was afflicted by severe chronic lung disease and sent home with mobile O2 support.As reported,the pilot was on the brink of losing his job.They had learned about miracles happening to those who trekked the sand path on their knees with petitions to Our Lady.It seems the pilot was too sick to travel so this reporter friend of the pilot volunteered to visit Velankanni and do the substitute penance.As claimed he almost quit halfway due to pain and abraded knees,but he persevered for the sake of his friend.He shared this 'pilgrimage' with the readers of his regular column in the newspaper.As a Hindu he could have ulterior motive when he put it writing that his pilot friend was fully healed and found fit to fly again within a short span of time.

It is a very miraculous shrine _ Devotees flock from far and wide to make a pilgrimage to visit the shrine of Our Lady Of Vailankanni to ask or to thank in person, favours received by praying. I have never had my prayers go unheard. I believe my dad was the influencing factor.

Vellankanni church is also considered as the Lourdes of Asia. It has long history. The largest church was the latest church build for larger gathering. The second one is the Basilica which has two portions one old and new . Old church is where we have orginal Mother mary statue made in remembrance of apparition. The last one the church is the place where the apparition took place. People used to walk on the knees from Basilica to the place of apparition seeking blessings of Mother Mary and Jesus.
