    Hi Jon, I saw your trip, really, really awesome!! I 'm going to visit Northern Spain next June with two friends and we're looking for a wonderful off-road trip like yours.
    We'll do it with big-enduro (Africa Twin and GS 1250) and with one ktm 690 enduro r, but looking at your 3 videos it seems feasible also with the maxi. Please, could you tell me if and where it is possible to find the gpx file of your trip? I'd like to do it!! Thank you in advance for your pleasant reply. Antonio

      😂 hey no problem at all and thanks for watching :)
      Hahaha yes that was the first gate I encountered on the tet, I didn’t realise they were made of rope, I absolutely did not see it until it was too late 😆🤦🏻 I slowed down a little after that 😆🙃

    Jon, great views of the trails! I did a small section last year, but will be back again mid April 23. You've got me all excited again 😂😂😂
    Couple of questions on the Kriega kit if I may.
    1. the OS base that you use, is that the standard, or the dedicated item for your bike?
    The reason I ask is that I have tried the standard OS base on my bike, AJP PR7, but find the bags flop about a lot on the bumps.
    The bike specific OS bases have 2 lower straps either side, so maybe making them more stable?
    2. Getting the OS12 bags off and on the base can be a bit of a faff. Did you find this, or did you just take the whole base off when on the ferry or visiting hotels for example?

    • @JondavKTM
      @JondavKTM  Рік тому +1

      Hi Gary, haha that’s great to hear, I’m glad you enjoyed watching mate.
      So with the kriega kit at the time of purchase there wasn’t an OS base specific for my 690 available so I used the standard base, It actually worked well, I can ride it quite hard and the bags held well albeit a little close to the back of my legs but they never bothered me the whole trip, I have seen they now have a bike specific os base for the 690/701 and I think will purchase that one and sell the standard so, I think the hold the bags abit higher up and little more sturdy, I’d recommend bike specific but the standard did work fine.
      When removing the bags, I left them on the base I took the whole thing into the hotel. I never removed the bags from the base the whole trip, as you said it’s a faff, but I found there was no need.

    Totally enjoyed all the videos Jon, three questions what time of year did you go, what camera is fixed on the bike and how long did it take to do, we are going in May and can’t wait.

      Hey, thanks for watching we had a fantastic time. We did 9 days in total including the ferry, so 7 days riding. We did sections in Castilla y Leon, Asturias, Cantabria, Basque Country, Navarra and Bardenas Reales. Averaged around 120 mile per day.
      Time of year September.
      Cheers

      Sorry forgot to mention, GoPro hero 9 black was the camera used. Mounted to a ram mount on the left of the handle bars.

      Yes absolutely, the 690 enduro was like it was built do this kind of stuff. We did of 1800 miles, it didn’t miss a beat.

      @@JondavKTM Awesome. I've been looking for one for over a year! Got a Tiger 900 just now and its still too heavy (great bike though) Gradually working my way down the weight classes. Nearly bought a 500 excf but I think I'd regret the road time.

    • @JondavKTM
      @JondavKTM  Рік тому

      @@AlpineTreeCare more weight less fun I say. I think your doing the right thing moving down the weight classes if your more of an off road orientated person, I don’t think you can beat the 690/701 for adventure off road style riding like the tet. Kriega os luggage system sat on the bike really well too. I think there is a comprise with any bike you could choose but this bike seems to tick the most boxes for doing this kind of international off road type riding.
