I liked watching this. Was able to make coffee and toast while you were cutting the two by four. 😂😂

For a usable jigsaw you need to look at a minimum spec with some more features and more power maybe something like this WEN 33606. Walmart have this for $34.75 I know its a bit more expensive but I am sure for the extra money if you are building an entry level set of tools this would be well worth the extra cost. Good series of videos waiting to see what's next in the cost effective tool line up?

I think you're right. I may revisit the jigsaw because spending an extra $20 or so would probably get us a decent one.

Harbor Freight is also a less expensive shopping choice.

DCP It seems as you were cutting that the cut was not vertical, another problem with jigsaws not used/set up correctly.

Try the test again with a GOOD, really Sharp new blade. Probably won't make much improvement, but it would be an interesting comparison.

It would improve it, for sure, but I think the vibration would still keep it from being any good. It's also really underpowered

Great video!! Save some money and get the best one you can afford to start instead of buy it twice.

THANKS! GREAT VIDEO! Jig saws have always been a mystery and difficult to use! Your video has helped me make a decision. I did buy a Worx's combo saw which works GREAT well both as a reciprocating saw and a Jig, I would not suggest it work for fine woodworking.

Thanks! That's really the key....how accurate do you need to be right off the saw. Nicer tools also help you work faster and they're more enjoyable to use.

I don't think you should be buying the cheapest XXX on Amazon. If the tool is no-name trash, and for $3-$5 more you could have bought the same tool by say Black and Decker or WEN that has more features, better construction, etc then wouldn't it make more sense to spend a little more? Maybe change the series to "cheapest (within reason)"? Or since you know what we should be looking for in a jigsaw, "cheapest I would recommend"? That has the features you recommend. Anyway, really enjoying your content. Have a good one!

That might ultimately be the best way to recommend the cheapest jigsaw, but then I'd have to buy all of them. I have thought of buying the 4 or 5 cheapest saws and testing them all out. Thanks for the suggestions!

@Out of the Woodwork that's a good point. Maybe cheapest of a reputable brand? Like B&D or WEN? Or whatever meets your recommendation. The point being, we don't want garbage, I think the majority of people would be willing to pay 5-10 more for something that hits the mark. Like has variable speed? And other features you recommend in a tool. That jigsaw had nothing. I don't know, just my 2 pennies.. you can keep the change. I appreciate you!

Having an inexpensive gap fill tool is ok, but it must be able to do the job. Good video.👍🐝
