You are my inspiration brother. You convinced me to re-build my base with high mileage slow intensity runs. I doubt i can reach 100 miles per week but 50 will be good enough for me. Keep it up with your great contents man
I did my first run on the DNE3 yesterday and it was incredible! Running faster was so easy! When I got home I missed your video about it 😂 I'm a midfoot/forefoot runner, so it worked for me, but I agree that the heel is too strange , unstable. I also agree with you about the running sensation. The DN2 is easy to run, comfortable. The DNE3 feels strange on the forefoot but it works 😅
a while ago, i wrote in a comment, that i got some"Emil Zatopek vibes", when i watched you run. Today you not only gave me those vibes again, you also talked about your running philosophie.....and that sounded pretty similar to the way Emil Zatopek ran....running hard, when feeling good and willing to carry the comsequences.......belive it or not i also can remember those times.....every time has its own qualities........now it is smiles over miles, joy for the soul over reaching a goal.....enjoy your time running on the fast lane while it lasts edit: Ekkehard Tolle....The power of now
When I reviewed the Deviate Nitro 2, my main area for improvement was to make the shoe more rockered. That's what made shoes like the Noosa Tri 14 and Hyperion Max work so well for me, even though they had somewhat "meh" foams. Also, Mason reviewing dinner is a lesson, too. Our kids watch what we do. :)
I finished the whole video before adding this just to make sure you didn’t already say it. But I’ll be interested to see if your opinion changes after a longer run. I had a similar opinion about the ride in the first run (but still really enjoyed it). After 63 miles in the shoe now, I’m enjoying it more and more. The aliphatic TPU (not PEBA like other Nitro shoes) does open up after a bit, sort of like Lightstrike Pro does for some runners. For me, it’s moved from tier B to an admittedly crowded tier A. Maybe not quite S tier…yet. Great pull on that sub-60 10er for a solo training run! 💪
Ive got about 50k in the nitro elite 3 and i think its solid. Lightweight, great foam, good grip, comfortable. Im a forefoot to midfoot striker and it works well for me. I dont think theres anything specifically that screams "secret sauce", but all of the aspects of the shoe combine to make the shoe solid. It just does what you need it to do without fuss and dissapears under foot. Its a case of "the shoe doesnt run for you". Also a huge plus is its a bit cheaper than most of the top marathon race shoes so its easy on the wallet.
It sure sounds like what I'm looking for. Less bulk in the heel, slightly firmer foam, and less rocker. As a runner who doesn't need stability, it always bothers me when there's extra foam hanging out the sides.
This might be the best shoe I've tried for that criteria you listed. The Metaspeed sky Paris is also a good one for that (edge as well but that has more of a rocker)
coming off of illness.., I ran half of what I was scheduled for yesterday.., this video helps me get hyped for tomorrows run.., gonna go for 2/3 of programmed, as I’m not 100%, but of if I can go, I will
Put some respect on Dakotah Lindwurm’s name! Top female finisher in the women’s Olympic marathon and 12th overall rocking the Deviate Nitro Elite 3. Girl may not have gotten a medal, but she got a rock 💍 at the finish line!
38:17 So good to hear you like the Cloudboom strike as much as you do. I was running in it, and immediately said “this is a special shoe”. The lack of a significant rocker/pop are a no go for me. Im spoiled with the Cielo X1…my runs these days need to be fun. Great video as always.
Do you think running in all of these different shoes helps or hurts your race day performance? Do you feel like you can get into a groove while training. Enjoying your videos!
Great question - I don't think it makes much of a difference either way. I've been trying to choose the shoe I'm running in based on the type of run I'd do that day anyway. It's fun to have the variety - downside is I don't run in the shoes I like that much because I'm testing a bunch of other options, but I get the strength benefits of rotating between different types of shoes
Been waiting for this one..I had the OG but the forefoot cushioning couldn't keep up and would go flat..I will give it a try cos I heard they gave it more stack..it's all about the comfort over all out pace..if it's like the rocket x2 it will fit well into my rotation..😊
Congrats on the market place! I totally wasn’t expecting that… I was actually going to request a shoe tour 😂I’m sure it’s a lot! I’m looking forward to going into the market place!
I was gonna warn you after the revisit of the Fast R, this shoe has the same foam. I agree, it doesn't sing when you run in it. The only way I made it come alive was to strike more with my forefoot as if I hated the ground I was running on 😅
Hahaha dude that 100% describes how I felt in the fast r. Just slamming the ground to get some response - this one is a little better bc of the less aggressive geometry but still a lot of work. Hopefully it will break in 🤷🏽♂️
Great feedback Have you ever thought about running/jogging with a CamelBak for a convenient drink of water? I find that just a few sips of water during a hard run ... provides an energy boost ... especially when doing hill work
Yeah good call. I usually bring a water bottle on any runs 2+ hours or when I'm going to a park where I can drop stuff. For my everyday runs I don't like carrying more than I need to so I keep it light - but for those longer efforts it's so crucial especially in the summer
Everyone says the TPEE in these require a break in just like Adidas LSP. Be curious to see how it evolves as you put more mileage in it in future revisits.
Maybe in America there is not a huge price difference between this and say the On, but over here in Europe, you will never find the On's for less than 260 while the Puma's will be 170 in a few months time. We are talking about huge difference. Btw, I tried this in a shop and I thought the feeling was a lot less snug than the DN2, I actually thought it was a little loose in my normal size, and you still think this is snug? What type of feet do you have over there? 😀
The Edge Paris is considered one of the best shoes of the year, so well done Puma for this absolute banger! At 230 euro it's cheap compared to most super shoes, and a lot cheaper than the 250 euro SC Trainer v3!
Already down to 195euro! And in a couple of months probably 170. It is a no brainer indeed. And the shoe did feel pretty special to me when I tried it, I guess the Yowana's of the world are pretty spoilt!
@@yianpap6093 I think it just shows how different we all run. He doesn't feel the Edge Paris and Adios Pro 3 have much bounce, while the Adios Pro 3 is very bouncy to me, and the Edge Paris is absolutely volatile! That's why I'll watch a lot of different shoe reviews, but only take recommendations from people who have shoe tastes close to my own.
I think the full name is Deviate NITRO Elite 3 per Puma. Nothing wrong with abbreviating to Deviate Elite 3 though. Also the foam is not PEBA in this version. They switched to Aliphatic TPU in Fast-R2 and this one. Fast-R2 was a heavy shoe but this one is darn light. None elite version is still using PEBA.
I agree with you on these shoes … seemed fine but nothing special vs. similar and better options like the CloudBoom Strike or Anta C202 5GT Pro (you’re still missing a major opportunity by not beating everyone to the punch on the 3 Anta racing shoes). I also had the same issue on weight … my left shoe weighs 215 grams and the right one ways 229 grams and they are both size 11 US … terrible quality control … I have never seen a difference of even 5 grams (on at least 50 different running shoes) before the Nitro Elite 3s. One last thing … you have to get the Prime x Strung 2 … they are about 50 grams heavier than original one you just reviewed but the bounce/rebound is even more insane and they are a little wider so the stability is a little better.
That difference is way too big percentage-wise. You must have got a bad sample. Can't see where such a huge difference can come from (other than some problem with the foam manufacturing presumably allowing for some wild density variations). I (or rather my scale) has made mistakes before, have you double checked again?
I did … I have 2 scales and both were that far off. Both shoes say US 11 and fit fine … at first I thought I got different sizes … I was going to return them but after trying them a couple of times they are definitely not in my top 5 so they are going in the display case until the 4s come out.
@@MatthewDodds-bk5bg You were right. Just received a pair I had ordered online and it came used/dirty, looks like a pair that has been tried on by 100 people in a store and has some blue stains in the toebox ruining an otherwise great-looking shoe. Anyway, it's going back immediately, but I did weight them (US 11 as well), right 230gr, left 217gr! So you were right, amazingly bad production standards, never seen more than 5 grams difference before and in much heavier shoes. Must be something with that new foam, I have two pairs of Deviate 2's and they are both 2-3 grs different left to right.
The mag max is definitely the more comfortable and supportive out of the two. For most types of runs I'd prefer the mag max. If you're looking for a shoe to run a fast race then the nitro elite 3 is a good choice, but I would only take it over the mag max for that type of a run. For regular training and everyday miles the mag max will be much better
