Everyone seems to either misunderstand what the song is really about or they just choose to ignore it. It's not about their lives being similar in how they live or what they do. It's about the fact that neither of them has any freedom to do what they wish to in life. They are both forced into something they don't want and have no control over. This was my favourite Barbie movie growing up. My sister and I had it on vhs and watched it at least once a week. We had the castle and the mini Barbies of Anneliese and Erika. Then imagine my surprise when I went to summer camp and my counsellors were fraternal twins named Anneliese and Erika. I always saw a little bit of myself in both Julian and Dominic but also Wolfie. The nerd, wanting an escape from people’s perceptions of me and always a little different from my peers.

Also, maybe you should do covers at this point with your amazing singing voice! I swear, your vibrato’s perfect how the heck did you do it?

22:51 This Barbie film and other stories like it are inspired by a book by Mark Twain called The Prince and The Pauper. From my understanding, it’s about two boys who were born on the same day and are identical. It’s a children’s story that’s historical fiction, published in 1881 but set in the 1500s. It’s historical fiction because it’s set in a real place and the Prince and king were real people.
omg!!! the goose girl is my favourite book too!! i've read it so many times and it's so comforting to me! i've never heard anyone else mention it though!

Omg I’m jealous!! My sister is a lot older than me, so we didn’t get to do that 😭 and thank you!! 🥹🫶🏼
Barbie in the Twelve dancing princesses, barbie as rapunzel, and barbie as the island princess are my top three i think, though i definitely also love the fairytopia movies, the princess and the pauper, swan lake, barbie mariposa, barbie and the diamond castle, and just, like, so many more. Was truly obsessed with many of these movies growing up and many remain to be comfort movies to me now as an adult.
One of the Top 5 Barbie movies , there's not a Barbie fan that doesn't know the "Girl Like You" song!
Truly iconic song!
Nothing brightens a day like a Sophia singalong. And the choreographed overlays? 👏👏👏
I LOVED all the Barbie movies, my favorite was always Barbie and The Magic Pegasus, the amount of times i cried looking at the poster till dad bought it for me😭 it was the most magical thing i had ever seen. so much nostalgia🤧💖
I also love that barbie movie, the swan lake ❤
My favorite barbie movie is 12 dancing princess because the kings reactions are priceless 😂
Loved your videos
this film is like some of the peak musical theatreness off these films and i think thats why i love it so much
11:55 the Sephiroth theme made it so funny and so much better, you chose the right sound
The villain from this movie is legit my icon
11:55 NOT THE ONE WINGED ANGEL THEME
Hey, I feel like having to marry someone you dont know and might not love is still pretty rough... and in the Princess and the Popstar reboot the princess problem was that she didnt want to write a SPEECH , which is TRULY first world nonsense
The gasp I let out when I saw this. I now need Sophia to watch them all now.
ALL OF THEM??
@@SophiaPhannn YES
Barbie movies 🤝 Tinker Bell movies
How we wish society worked.
OMG THE NOSTALGIA ❤ i used to watch barbie movies ALL THE TIME and im so happy that the barbie movie is coming out in 5 DAYS??
I honestly prefer this iconic animation to their new animation. It's probably bias since I grew up with the classics like this, swan lake, rapunzel, and fairytopia
I think Dominic saw Erika sings to her cat and though '' She has a beautiful voice and is really kind! '' which make him falls for her. That's cute 🥰
the soundtrack is so top tier
That voice actress played the aunt in Barbie in A Christmas Carol (my personal favorite) and does a similar accent and puts her all into it the same way!!!
I never watched this movie in English before but I heard that Julian's VA voiced L in Death Note and watching this now, I imagine L every time Julian is talking ^^ Like, he even talks in a similar way than L here xD (since they're both nerdy characters who often explain stuff but soo different apart from that)
8:30 "Awaaaaaay!" 🎶 You ate and left no crumbs! Bravo 👏
i wasnt super into barbie growing up (always preferred winx, monster high and other franchises like that) but i did have this movie on a cd and i watched it all the time. almost weekly i think. i remember during the songs i would pretend to be singing and mimic what the characters were doing. so nostalgic
Sophia's pipes were so good in this!
Thank you!! 💙
Sophia's exclamation of "Stephen King!" was absolutely hilarious! 32:38
I still can’t get over the fact that Julian (and a lot of other Barbie love interests) is also the same voice actor for L in the dub of death note 😂
The nerd, wanting an escape from people’s perceptions of me and always a little different from my peers.
objectively, this is the best Barbie movie, but my favorite will always be 12 dancing princesses. honestly I just love all the classic Barbie movies Kelly Sheridan is a QUEEN
NO I totally understand the whole objective vs subjective favorite dilemma
Preminger was the most martin short being martin short character ever lol
Dude! This movie was my childhood. It was the only Barbie movie my grandmother owned and I watched it several times with my little sister. We still quote so many of the villains lines. X"D
Dude, I STILL have this DVD and those songs were my family’s JAM way back when. Looooove this movie!
11:57 girl not One Winged Angel playing in the back ground 😂😂😂😂
Not the one winged angel in the background. 😂 But im going to have to go read this goose girl book now.
One of my favorite Barbie movies aside from Island princess, 12 dancing princesses and the Diamond castle!
I love Barbie! My household owns all these films on disc and my mom, who is well into her 40's will sit us down to watch them again. The songs are bops and have quite literally landed me roles in musicals! These films are great!
Are you classically trained because those vocals starting at 8:26 are on point!
No I’m not, I just did a few musicals in high school and avidly listened to Broadway soundtracks like Phantom of the Opera LOL
I’ve recently discovered your channel about a month ago and now I’m a fan! I adore your reactions and edits, they’re so fun and charming! Seeing you react to Avatar has been a huge treat, the way you empathize and analyze things can be very on point. Princess and the Pauper has always been one of my favorites in the BCU and I’m glad you reacted to this. Not gonna lie, The Cat’s Meow is one of my top songs in this OST XD.
Also, maybe you should do covers at this point with your amazing singing voice! I swear, your vibrato’s perfect how the heck did you do it?
Omg welcome!! 🫶🏼 I’m glad you like my content :) thank you for kind words 💙
Can we just take a moment to appreciate Sophia's voice....my god is it beautiful or what....she could voice a barbie princess
I love Goose Girl! That kind of plot in this movie would've slayed tbh
Omg I'm so glad you're reacting to this it's my favorite barbie movie🧡🧡🧡🧡
I think this movie was my first exposure to the Prince and the pauper story. The only other female version of the story, is that Play with Queen Elizabeth l and a pauper called the Pauper princess? And I owned almost all the Barbie movies on DVD. As a kid. 5:05 This was my first exposure to Martin Short I think, and then I heard him Again in The animated Willoughbys movie. Also Preminger Is such a mood.💅🏼😘 5:47 Dog from New York Grew up on the Bronx, I’m kinda stereotyping but…😅
22:51 This Barbie film and other stories like it are inspired by a book by Mark Twain called The Prince and The Pauper.
I absolutely love the goose girl! I reread it recently, hands down the best book retelling of a grimms fairy tale
I used to watch these movies on VHS as a little kid, they turned into DVD as a got a little older and they were a large part of my childhood
This movie in particular had one of my favorite soundtracks❤❤
11:56 not the one winged angel theme 😭
good thing we got the internet you can watch all the barbie movies you want.
