This is Dutch! Mouth harp is known by many different namens, being played since ancient times, almost all over the world. It is not from one region or culture.
now playing since decades for fun, i had never had problems with my teeth just my right upper lip is getting sore after extensive playing. Ah and hands and fingers may hurt after a while, depending on the instrument and play-style.
So first off, it sounded great. I love the Jaw harp. But I have to say, put this video on mute and it looks like three people showing how the eat soup. And with the guy on the right staring at the guy with the glasses the whole time, it really made for a fascinating view.
They are found all over europe and asia (for as far as I know, probably as well on other continents) on archeological sites.. we don't know who made them first, and what does it even matter, they are called different also in every area!
Not from Jewish people. It is known by many names and being played since ancient times almost all over the world. It is NOT from one culture or people.
Artists, their art & traditions should never be compared. That said, I would insist that these gentlemen should watch the variety of how this instrument is played in my country India by the rustic nomads of our desert state, Rajasthan! The Manganiar community uses the same Jew's Harp in a by far more lively manner ! Please look up the word MORCHANG ..
Actually the man Phons Bakx, is an expert on the mouth harps and playing styles from every culture, he did a lot of research, and wrote several (well known by the mouth harpers community) books about this instrument... He also organised the world mouth harp event some years ago in Amsterdam.. This piece that is played is written by him in the way classical pieces of music for an orchestra of various instruments are written by all the old and new musical geniusses and masters.. Look up some more info about him, it's not easy to find in english maybe..Since the man is dutch, as I'm as well :-) Netherlands doesn't have a big culture of this instrument anymore, there are just a hand full of masters left who are making dutch mouth harps.. But thanks to this man and all his research, books, music and information, the Netherlands definitly contributed big time to the mouth harp movement!
These gentlemen really need to travel to Rajasthan, India and take music lessons on how to use the Jewish harp from the desert folk artists !! Or at least should hear their music ! Will do them a world of good.
Strangely, I hear a whole symphony in this. How amazing.

PLEASE GIVE ME THE SHEET MUSIC!
It's Yakout's khomus ( gopuz ).
Hello - Does playing of this jaws harp hurt your teeth and erode away your enamel and cause pain in the long run?
No, as you are not meant to bite hard on the metal. You should only just about be touching it.
now playing since decades for fun, i had never had problems with my teeth just my right upper lip is getting sore after extensive playing. Ah and hands and fingers may hurt after a while, depending on the instrument and play-style.
No, you just rest it against your teeth and they also have some that rest on just your lips
This instrument is yakout's khomus ( gopuz ).
It is universal and being played since ancient times almost all over the world.
Bel trio di marranzanu
Turkish instruments ... Ağız kopuzu..

Jaw Harps predate are a universal instrument. The Asians have it, the Europeans have it, etc.

if dubstep was made with instruments, this would probably be perfect!

Please check out my jewharp video, recorded in a small church with great accoustic in South Tirol, Italy. Best regards Jan
You can perfectly mute the video and pretend they are just eating cereal as a trio, for example
UFFFFLE
Most is used Jew's harp (from the Jewish-people), but also Jaw harp.
Not from Jewish people. It is known by many names and being played since ancient times almost all over the world. It is NOT from one culture or people.
Bámulatos doromb játék, a többi felvétel is nagyszerű.
not jewsharp, its jawharp...
Rastuchable it both dude
its got bunch of different names
Sounds so much like cowboy / western music. Maybe this is what they used in the Wild West as a synthesizer haha =P
