- This is a basic introduction for structural FEM modelling using the popular software abaqus. In this video the basics are covered including creating and analyzing a three dimensional beam using solid elements. The viewing of results (including showing how to increase the viewport's font size) and a method to export it to excel is also shown.

Your explanations are really clear and beginner friendly.
It would be great if you could make at least one more ABACUS tutorial about setting up an acoustic modelling from scratch. I know that Abacus can simulate acoustics, and also acoustic-structure interactions. The only problem is that I could not find any useful tutorial on UA-cam, or elsewhere about this.

I want to estimate the number of cycles/ stress intensity factors SIF and the corresponding crack extension rate to establish paris law for the given material under uniaxial loading. The sample has and edge crack (with symmetry boundary conditions) and a notch (hole) right to the crack edge. Load is 350N.
Young’s modulus for PMMA (Acrylic) of 2.8 GPa (406.1 ksi), and a Poisson’s ratio of 0.34.

Hey brother I have a couple of questions,please help me by answering those.......I am running a cracked abaqus software for just learning,going to buy an original one soon .My problem is that whenever I try to use gpgpu acceleration it says gpgpu token not available........what's the problem?........is there a way to get it working .Note:I am using GTX1050 3GB on my laptop.....(I know it's not "supported" but as it has CUDA cores it should work right?).Please ,please give me a solution,I desperately need it for my thesis work.

Hi, thanks for the comment. Are you referring to the phrase at 6:17 in the video? In my case the popup appeared on my second screen. So I just dragged it over onto my main screen.

dear sir... when I tried the same example as which you have explained..... but I got the following error.... can you explain in brief how to sort out this problem...….
"The executable standard.exe aborted with system error code 1073741819. Please check the .dat, .msg, and .sta files for error messages if the files exist. If there are no error messages and you cannot resolve the problem, please run the command "abaqus job=support information=support" to report and save your system information. Use the same command to run Abaqus that you used when the problem occurred. Please contact your local Abaqus support office and send them the input file, the file support.log which you just created, the executable name, and the error code."

I would like a very important advise on the fact that my "Abaqus" has to be run on my laptop......and since it's getting old I am buying a new one.I would like to have your advise that is CPU( say 3.7 vs 4 Ghz) more important over storage( 516 SSD vs 1TB correspondingly).....for "Simulation".Please,I need an advice from an expert like you.

Yes, ABAQUS is a CPU-heavy software and you can run projects off an external hard disk. Though I advise you to get a PC instead because cooling is much better and thus, higher performance.

You said your beam will be 3 meters however for approximate size you chose 10. Does that mean every 10 units of abaqus is equal to 3 meters?
Hi Thanks for the comment. No, the approximate size gives Abaqus an indication of the "drawing grid size". The actual dimensions of the beam is specified by drawing the beam (a rectangle in this case). It should be noted that Abaqus does not entertain units of any kind. The user must choose and keep track of all units
