The fact that they seemingly NEVER hired an accent coach to work with David Boreanaz (or maybe only hired a coach for, like, one hour) will forever crack me up. It's just impossible to take Angelus seriously when the accent it happening.
Maybe they used Bianca Lawson's coach?
@@feudistBianca actually worked really hard to develop an accurate Jamaican accent for her role but when she got to the set they told her the accent was too strong and that viewers wouldn’t be able to understand it, and made her tone it down. She couldn’t figure out how to do that very well and so we ended up with what we got.
I feel bad for her cuz she put in the work to play the role correctly then got played for a fool by the director/producers 😢

Buffy as a typical Slayer: Alone, utterly reckless, indifferent to the suffering of others and dying with a look of peace on her face...because it's over at last.
Those bangs are the darkest tragedy in the series.
I think the snow was a message to Angel: "You weren't brought back to be the Slayer's mopey boyfriend. Get to work." And maybe, just maybe the rarest of grace notes for The Slayer.
"Bored now." I saw that episode so many times that I started using that phrase myself. Still do, sometimes, and it takes me a second before I remember where the phrase comes from...

Same. It's in my top ten for the series. I watched the series during its original airing and it was the ONLY episode I managed to miss in 7 years. I had no fricken clue who Anya was a few episodes later but I did get context for the missed episode from that one. I didn't get to see the actual episode until I bought Buffy on DVD in 2008. ugh...

The Wish has always been one of my favorite Buffy episodes, it really adds a vulnerability to Cordelia to deal with Xander but that look she gives when Harmony tells her that he and Willow were dead really speaks volumes, her character development is real underneath everything and Amends is another killer of an episode regarding everyone's acting talents. Great reactions guys!
Because we start the show with Buffy arriving in Sunnydale, it’s easy to forget that, like Faith, her first watcher died. When she first met Giles, she was over being the slayer, but she couldn’t look the other way while people were dying, so she ended up going back to it. Luckily, she got Giles, who went through his own period of not wanting the life that was laid out before him, making him more sympathetic and open to giving Buffy space to be herself. If she had been sent to a different Watcher, one who could have used the death of her first Watcher to prod her into focusing on becoming a better slayer, it’s pretty easy to see how she might have become this disconnect, jaded person who sees nothing but the job ahead of her until she dies. It’s probably part of why most slayers don’t live that long. When the chips are down, and she has to dig deep for the will to keep fighting, what does she have to live for besides more of the same?
Emma Caulfield, who plays Anya, is also in the horror movie DARKNESS FALLS.

My gripe with “The Wish” is that they killed Cordelia and that she didn’t remember anything. It should’ve been a Cordelia-centric episode where she was the hero. And she could’ve came back to her own universe and realized just because she wasn’t happy with Xander and Willow, didn’t mean she couldn’t still be friends with Buffy or Giles. Her “friends” are superficial and are too scared to actually care about her. It also could’ve been a way for her to realize that her fighting demons isn’t contingent on her dating Xander. That it was something she did cuz it’s who she is as a person. I would’ve loved if they’d used this episode as a means for Buffy and Cordelia to get closer.
21:20 Yeah, Buffy having no support system makes her go all G.I. Barbie. I’m also pretty sure that the lack of help from the Scoobies ended up with Joyce dying. That or Joyce got put in danger which forced Buffy to run away from home. Buffy’s original watcher: Merrick(RIP Donald Sutherland) had to have died in this universe too, as he had come to care for her a lot(and she, him) and sacrificed himself to save her. His death was the reason Buffy had “quit” slaying in Season 1. It’s really interesting because Faith’s story is essentially Buffy’s if she hadn’t found Giles. Though Faith has a lot of trauma Buffy doesn’t, it’s a very similar story.
Her death by The Master in this universe saddens me so much because I think Buffy let him kill her. She didn’t have the fear or the prophecy of our universe’s Buffy so she wasn’t susceptible to hypnotism. And we see he didn’t use it here. A Slayer seems to be like a vampire, in that she gets more powerful and skilled with age. Not only that, but their mental state impacts their ability as well. Rage or just feeling powerful makes them more powerful. I don’t count season 1 because of budget constraints. But season 3 Buffy is not just more skilled than season 2 Buffy, but also seems to be stronger as well. Season 2 Buffy would’ve washed the Master and Season 3 would’ve had an even easier time of it. The Slayer is way stronger than a Vampire. There’s this rough figure that a lone Lioness can kill 4-5 hyenas, and a lone Lion can kill anywhere from 10-20. Hyenas will run at the mere sight of a lion-abandoning kills and everything. Regardless of whether the numbers are true or not(I doubt it). I think it’s a good analogy for Slayers vs Vampires. They start out as the Lioness and eventually make their way to Lion and beyond. The Master should not have been all that hard for G.I. Buffy to kill at all. She wanted it to end.
'The Wish' is such an incredible episode of television. I remember the shock when I first saw it. I feel like it would've made an incredible spin-off movie.

I think the most important thing to remember is that Angel was actually the anointed one. It was prophesied that he would lead her to the master, she would not know who he was, and the master would kill her.

I’m probably wrong, but I thought Nancy was also the actress we see super briefly in an upcoming episode where Buffy is sprinting up the side of the school to get to a very high point in the school (trying to avoid spoilers) and Nancy kind of snarkily says to herself “I could have done that.” (Looked it up and the character is Nancy. So her name is in the episode enough for me to remember it. Not sure if she’s recast or not.)

3x09 Xander's on the phone trying to apologize to Cordelia while saying to Buffy and Willow that he and Willow didn't do anything wrong. Cordelia deserves better. And while Willow feels guilty, Oz is definitly correct. It isn't his problem that she just wants to feel less guilty about what she's done.
3x10 If I were Oz, it would have taken me more time for forgiveness towards Willow. Personally, I don't think I would have. I'm on Cordelia's side of things (in regards to the get away from me comment), but Oz is better than most people, including me. He's a fan favorite for a reason.

The wish and Amends are two of my favourite episodes of the show! Amends is absolutely amazing! Love it! And it is one of the reason why I am bangel and I will always be! ❤❤
For anyone who has finished Buffy & Angel (or doesn't care about spoilers), I *highly* recommend checking out Passion of the Nerd's video essay on "Amends." He delves into Camus's The Myth of Sisyphus and the message of "we fight for what matters" throughout the runs of both Buffy and Angel. All of his Buffy essays are great, but that one (and the companion podcast he did with Lani Diane Rich) is especially captivating.
You are a great couple and thank you for the entertainment you bring each week. These are 2 important episodes for many reasons. The importance and lessons are some that you will think about over your journey in the Buffyverse. I suggest that you ponder the elements of Amends. Season 2 had many important moments for Buffy and the understanding of morality, values, ethics, love, and forgiveness. Amends is a version of I Only Have Eyes For You. Buffy can only forgive Angel and understand the pain because of her experience has a killer in I Only…..etc. Angel only knows pain, self hate, and has no inner strength based on ethics, love, compassion for others , and forgiveness. The scene with them on the hill is the most crucial for Angel in his existence. What Buffy does for Angel is how he can triumph. It’s the start of Angels journey to understand what he has not for over 209 years
Now why has the First Evil sent Angel back to kill Buffy? You answered when you said it was good placement for Thw Wish. We saw Buffy without the Scoobys, Giles, or even Cordelia. She was a Slayer like a mix of Kendra and the Faith. She died because she had no connection to the world to save her. Slayers have come and gone but Buffy is different. She has survived many times when other Slayers would have died because of her differences and connections. She is a force that is obviously different. This has alarmed the First Evil that uses the whispered word to subvert and destroy ( the serpent in the garden) The plan is to bring in a person the Slayer will trust to kill her. If that Plan fails then have Angel kill himself. The suicide of Angel would emotionally destroy Buffy( not forever but long enough) and thus make her weakened and able to be killed. The plan is working and will achieve one of the goals( and also get Angel back in hell) but Buffy steps in to defeat the First Evils plan, start the process of Amends and forgiveness for Angel, and have a major step accomplished for Buffy in her quest. This is an episode to store in your memory and refer to when Buffy and Angel deal with more than slaying a demon. Keep up with your great reactions

Episode 3x09: The next season 3 introduction of another one of my favorite characters: Anya. Love seeing Willow and Xander as vampires in this episode. That last sequence, before the wish was reversed, was great yet terrifying. Even though it was in an alternate reality, it was crazy seeing Xander, Willow, Buffy, and Angel meeting that fate. Good seeing the Master again. Such a great episode!
Episode 3x10: One of my all-time favorite Christmas episodes. David Boreanaz does a great job in this one. Enjoyed seeing Miss Calendar again. And loved seeing Willow and Oz working to get their relationship back on track. And that movement with Angel and Buffy on the hilltop and then walking in the snow is one of of my all-time favorite moments from this show. No spoilers, but just remember what you learn about the "First Evil".

The Wish is the lead up episode of my favorite of all time episode….. Buffy 3X16 Doppelgängland is in my opinion hands down the best episode of any show ever!!!! Can’t wait till ya get there !!

The Wish is always a fan favourite. A great concept here with the alternative reality. We get introduced to Anya The Vengeance Demon, the moral of the episode is be careful what you wish for. Cordelia being Cordelia opens up the alternative dimension, some great comedy one liners here too, and of course foreshadowing again for the future. Cordelia's vacuous airhead friends are so cruel to her and others. Giles saves the day confronting Anya and restores things back to normal. Again we see S3 being so innovative with much better writing and storylines. It just gets better and better.
Just wanted to say I love these reactions for Buffy and Charmed! ❤ When I first saw The Wish, I was shocked lol one of my faves!
Just wondering how you guys are thinking of sequencing the Buffy and Angel episodes next season, already assuming you guys will pick up Angel in addition to continuing Buffy, and that you two have already given it some thought. Would you do one episode of Buffy plus one episode of Angel in each of your Buffyverse videos? Or maybe alternate between two Buffy and then two Angel episodes? Or follow the SlayAlive watch order and just release two episodes at a time of whichever show is next? Love you guys!

The First Evil are not physical monsters Buffy can fight. They only manifest as images of dead people because of those priest guys. And yeah, you don't see Buffy actually ending their threat at all.
Buffy could see Jenny at first because of the mystical nature of Slayer dreams. Remember, they are prophetic. They show her both the past and the future. Later, in the cave, she saw Jenny/The First because it wanted her to see it, and because of her mystical shared dream with Angel, she was technically included in the haunting of Angel. Giles couldn't see her because he was not being haunted.
i think oz is the most emotionally mature person on this show.
I liked him in this series then found out about him in real life. Not a fan of the pedo.
Eliza Dushku was still a minor when this was filmed, however, she was emancipated since she was 14 so those work rules were really not an issue for her. She got emancipated explicitly so she could get around minor work requirements for the movie True Lies with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis.
The guy in the modern business suit, talking about how Angel killed his children? Most likely that’s what Angelus did with Drusilla after the events of I Only Have Eyes For You. Drusilla did say they would go get him a nice toddler.
Yuuup. Other than Jenny, I think that's the scariest form The First takes in this episode. Because that was some poor innocent Sunnydale family that Angelus butchered last year.

Amends was one of the best episodes of S3, and for me personally a top ten from the whole show. We are introduced to The First Evil tormenting Angel through his past victims. The concept of The First is that it gave the writers a way of reintroducing old characters to add to the richness of the show, as The First can channel its evil through dead people attacking the mind of the living. The ending scene with Buffy and Angel is brilliantly acted when Buffy is trying to save Angel from daylight, SMG and David Boreanaz absolutely knock it out of the park here, and The Hallmark movie ending even though schmaltzy, just works so well with the storyline. Comic relief with Willow using Barry White to seduce Oz is funny but sweet and innocent too. Again the acting from SMG and DG at the end was superb. Another great episode keeping up the brilliant quality of S3. This is actually a very important episode. You can see guys that you really get the show, and appreciate the writing. S3 is just banger after banger, the quality of the episodes in S3 is amazing.
The wish was a better episode but the first evil was an interesting villain especially if you have watched the entire series then you know.
the wish is one of my favorite episodes. its so fun and interesting. i love seeing how different everyone is. i, um, enjoy vampire willow. and watching oz kill willow, and watching xander and willow drain the life out of cordy was such a good metaphor for how it felt in their real world.
The Wish is such a great episode. A classic "be careful what you wish for", though it doesn't quite work for that because Cordy doesn't remember it. I love the Master's glide down the stairs at the end. So camp.
The first episode was good. It lets everyone know the trouble didn’t follow Buffy but she came there because trouble was already in sunnydale
Cordelia 'dying' always made me sad as a kid, even rewatching knowing what's going on 😂

I love how everything connects and it doesn't seem forced. Willow and Xander different sides, the comeback of the Master. The cold Buffy and the prophecy of the Master killing her still happening.
I don't love the Angel christmas episode, but it had good things. Xander family problems...

In regard to The First, it can only appear as those who have died. And Buffy did die. The Powers that Be are not done with Angel -hence the freak Snow Storm.

speaking of willow and the pilot you should see the unaired pilot, it has a different actress for willow. its here on youtube last i saw. the actress was ok, but the way she said her lines was different from allison hannigan who says them with a self depreciating way with a little cheer. the other actress was more depressionish.

I had Buffy's exact bangs at one point. Without exception, every person who saw them said, "What happened?" Not flattering on anyone.
This show really highlights a major theme of the show, the importance of friends and family. Buffy without her friends is not as good a Slayer. Great pickup that friendless Buffy is a cross between Faith and Kendra.
yes it definitely goes to show without her family and friends buffy didnt have the support system and would have ended up very different i think it showed the audience that the scoobies really do play a part in buffys life as the slayer

Unfortunately, those bangs were a thing in the 90's. I remember, in my class, there was a student from South Korea who went to a hairdresser and got bangs, not knowing what they were. It was quite humorous.

idk if u saw but looks like Faith was being feed on outside the bronze, due to her not being chosen yet as buffy never died making kendra, who thrn died to make faith. (not sure how faith came to sunnydale without looking for buffy but still)

Making The Wish both more and less depressing:
More depressing: it's implied by the way they barely react to Nancy's death that there used to be a lot more White Hats. They're totally desensitized to their friends dying. Was Jenny one? Did Giles lose her in this reality too?
Less depressing: Darla and Luke are nowhere to be seen, implying that they at least got a few good punches in.
I've wondered about Jenny in this timeline. Since Angel is here, it makes sense to assume that Janna was still sent to watch him - I always assumed she and Giles arrived in Sunnydale around the same time.
That would also add some serious ouch factor to the way he trails off while saying he never told anyone here he was a Watcher. Because if Jenny was there and they were together, she would have known.
First of all Cody where did you get the Are You Afraid Of The Dark Top? S3xE9 Wish is probably my favourite "what if" episode and one of my favourite from S3.

Eliza was just about to turn 18. Until then, she could only film 6 hours a day. This doesn't limit her total episodes. That is limited by the contract as a recurring character. If she was in the main cast, Ahe could be in every episode, but not too many scenes.

I'm 1 hr east of SF and we had snow maybe 10/15 times in 25 years
Let’s be real, Wishverse Willow and Xander are so hot. Sure they’re evil, but yummy. And it’s a key part of Xander’s character that not a lot of people pick up on, that his family is so full of angry alcoholics that he has to sleep outside on Christmas Eve to avoid fights. Kind of makes his going straight for the jugular in a verbal fight make more sense, knowing what his family must be like. Even siding with Joyce about ‘she cares about you, and you just ran away’ in 3x2 makes more sense when you know he’s from an abusive family.
I wish (no pun intended) we got more episodes with evil Anya, she was such a fun villain
The Wish is a great episode. And the cast mainly Alyson and Nicholas made great performances. We see they need each other.
In this world its the opposite, Xander kills Angel, Oz killed Willow and the Master kills Buffy.
And not the first time, we hear Xander family is not a great one.

Super disappointed with you guys not realising that Sunnydale is on the shoreline of California... Like it literally has a beach. The whole point of the snow was to disprove the claim that angel was brought out of hell by the the first evil or the source of all evil... And to establish that something divine and good rescued angel from hell and now rescued him again by performing a miracle.
Buffy was literally mentioning throughout the episode over and over how hot it was outside.

Did we get the answer to why Angel was brought back? As Buffy says in the end, someone takes credit for it and he just believes them? There's no concrete proof that he was actually brought back the First.

The Wish is an amazing episode and one of my all time favorites (although I have many favorites in this season! 😂). Enter Anyanka! I love ANYA so much and Vamp Willow is so much fun and very evil and unhinged, and I love it! I also love her! And she's kinda gay! 🏳️🌈 Poor Cordelia. She just wanted a little revenge and not feel sad anymore. Magic for personal gain is always bad. Even in the Buffyverse. 😅
Amends is also very good because we get to meet the First and see some more of Angel/Angelus backstory. 🤐 And ooh snow! In Sunnydale, a very Californian town. It's a Christmas miracle. 🎄

Love both of these episodes. Alternate universe of the wish so fun. Amends i feel is underrated great acting. Buffy’s bangs though big swing and a miss.
I don't get all the hate bangs propaganda that people are on anymore. I love bangs short/medium/long length, and I also love no bangs.😁
