Great tutorial. For ceramic artists who don't have a large outdoor space you can use a cardboard or plastic box to spray into. The over spray will stick to the insides of the box and cleans up easily. I took a large box and made it into 3 folds to catch the over spray. Thank you Ana.
@@TheZsuZsa123 yes, I had one at my other house, you can also install a bathroom exhaust fan to pull the overspray outside. That’s what I had, a diy spraying booth. I need to make myself one again, I’ll have a video on it!👍🏻💕
@@marciasilviajohnson6461 thank you Marcia! You can’t go wrong with spraying, it just takes a little more effort, but worth it for the results you get!👍🏻
@@heididerksen8227 Here they are: I love Selsor Chun. It’s a very reliable glaze! It likes to be on the thin side of application. So I usually do a quick dip.👍🏻 ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx7AnbnDOxVbzS-pZISMcUwz2nPbtf3AE_?si=2Qs93fhAiZZwpKQq
This is a great tutorial. I used to spray glazes when I took ceramics classes but I haven’t in so long. I have everything I need but I’ve been worried about trying it again. How many coats do you need with a colored glaze since you’re spraying it and it’s such a light coat. I can’t remember the specifics. I’m assuming you’re spraying so you don’t mess up all of the work you’ve done with the underglaze. Not sure if you mentioned that but it’s a great way to not have to bisque the underglaze and fire again. Thanks so much.
@@micheledickey4066 that’s correct Michele. One of the reasons to spray the clear is because if I brush on, it can smear the underglazes or line work, but the main reason is to get an even coat. I usually spray 3 coats or go by eyeballing because some glazes like to be thin and some can be on the thicker side. What looks beautiful sprayed on are celadon or translucent glazes, to avoid the blotchy effect you get when brushing it on sometimes. I hope this helps!👍🏻💕
Great video , I’ve never given spraying a go . What happens if toy overdo the spraying and end up with too much glaze on the piece ? Will it even out when it’s fired ?
@@adelemilton-y3q Hi Adele, this Kittens Clear glaze in particular likes to be thin. If you put it on too thickly it might crawl. It’s hard to overdo when spraying because you can see the coverage. I stopped when I can no longer see the painting underneath. You can also spray other glazes and underglazes. 👍🏻
@@PerrinPottery thanks Sarah. It’s a little more work to spray, but to me it’s worth it. Especially for pieces that you spend a lot of time painting. There are so many uses though. You can also spray underglazes. It’s great for layering glazes as well!👍🏻
