2 of my 4 daughter's have B6 dependant epilepsy. My oldest had the spinal tap. 100 mg's a day for both of them, or they WILL have a seizure within 48hrs. They both must take it for life. They both have delays and struggle with their grades in school. I am very grateful we have a solution though, and they can be off all of their other seizure medications that they used to be on.
We are starting to come to this realization with my son. Giving 100mg daily is kicking seizures out. Did you do the spinal tap to confirm this? How long did they have seizures before you found this root cause? The delays didn’t reverse I’m assuming 😢? My son has had seizures uncontrolled now for 6 years and I fear the damage is done
@@adriennelebronyoga My oldest was about 5-6 when we had the tap. But, we had given her B6 as an optional "extra" since she was little. We started to notice she would have seizures coincidentally when we didn't think about giving it to her. She was on valproic acid and some other things. We never imagined it was the B6 the whole time that was keeping it at bay. They both was having seizures out of the womb immediately. They both had somewhat low muscle tone and were both well over 2 years old before they could walk on there own. Both are in IEP at school, but are starting to make more and more progress. Don't give up and keep using the B6. We use Solgar brand 100mg capsules. You also could give your son 50mg twice a day morning and night. Also, take an Arginine supplement. There is an amino acid protein called lysine that there bodies can't break down properly. Prayers hun stay strong for him. Lots of love.
Please be careful. B6 also causes toxicity and serious symptoms. Epilepsy is about the only condition where B6 is good. For everyone else B6 supplements should be avoided.

I have friend who has this problem. She couldn't drive because it was that bad. Her doctor removed her ovaries to get her hormones under control. It didn't work. Next they sent her to a surgeon for brain sugery. They opened her skull and figure out where in the brain it was happening and did some cutting, leaving a large scare under her hair. It seemed to work for a while. She started driving but had a seizure while driving. She recked into another car, she didn't quite remember. Her car was distroyed but physically she and other driver were ok. I am sending this videos to her. It's worth a try. Wish we had seen this before the surgeries.
Has she tried keto? I was considered drug resistant so I just came off them completely for a little over a year and just did keto, only started seizing once I quit. I’ve had one seizure while in ketosis and benzos might be responsible. Keto is brutal, I couldn’t stick with it so I now do low carb plus meds. If I didn’t have acid reflux I’d be pushing to make keto work for me though. At this point I can’t imagine going back to anything above 70g carbs daily, my brain is a mess with increased carbs. I got black out drunk at my sister’s wedding (terrible idea/mistake), no meds, just keto, no seizure; it’s incredibly effective for at least significantly reducing seizures in drug resistant cases.

It's pyridoxine not periodoxine and it's not a deficiency but rather a metabolic disorder whereby B6 becomes deactivated in the brain (i.e. it's not deficient but excessive amounts are needed to combat this). It's treated with high dose B6, arginine and a low protein diet (triple therapy). The issue is due to a problem metabolizing lysine (a component of protein) such that it is only broken down partially, producing a neurotoxic byproduct. It's this byproduct that causes issues with B6 and in turn the seizures. Children can be diagnosed with a simple blood or urine test to detect a-AASA levels (a spinal tap is not needed), which are uniquely elevated in PDE. Children with PDE often have developmental delays and later intellectual disability. Starting triple therapy as soon as possible may improve cognitive outcomes. My daughter has PDE.
Hello, thank you for this information. My son had seizures at birth but they stopped after putting him on pyridoxine. A month later, Did a blood and urine test for a-AASA but came back within normal range. I'm scared of taking him off of the pyridoxine. If you don't mind me asking, did your baby have diarrhea while on pyridoxine.

I have epilepsy and don’t respond well to medications. My VNS device used to help degrease the amount of seizures that I would have. Doctors wanted to remove my ovaries, I said no. CBD hemp oil decreased the amount of seizures that I have. Thank you for sharing your experience. I am happy for this family, it’s wonderful that they were able to find a doctor who helped them.
