I love and admire the intellect of all of you. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and knowledge with us.
Dr. Gary’s thoughts on the culpability of the father who bought his son an AR-15 after he made comments online about shooting up a school are my thoughts exactly. I think the majority of Americans feel the same way, and so did law enforcement. Would this school shooting ever have happened if the father had bought his son a different Xmas gift, locked up all the weapons in the house and taken him in for mental health services? The son is obviously the one to blame for murdering and injuring innocent people. However, the father needs to be held accountable too, on some level. IMO
Thank you Josh, Dr. Gary, Chris. You guys/gentleman have formed a bond. Healthy disagreement and different perspectives have brought even more into our conversations. Continue the good work and know we love and appreciate you guys
Calling the school saying my kid is not right today is allot to hand over to the school. What are they supposed to do not knowing exactly what the kid may or may not do? Why isn't the mother taking care of her child who is not well that day? The parent is passing the buck to the secretary who answered the phone that day at school etc. The parent just admitted I've sent my kid to school knowing they are not in a good place. If we had more or better facilities for mental health, how do we know they would be utilized by anyone who needs that? The parent would have to step up and take time and effort to get child help, and that's assuming the kid would stay there to get the help! I'm not against guns at all but saying "how many guns are in jail' is simplistic for this argument I think. Why are kids and others even resorting to this? Why is there so much " mental illness" these days? Why is that ? Is it all mental illness or individuals being entitled, spoiled, etc being raised by entitled spoiled individuals who may nor have regard for anyone either. I know individuals are facing mental illness, but don't think we can blame all crimes, etc on mental illness of the perp
I look at it this way…if the kid is too young to walk into a store and legally buy it himself then the parents should not be purchasing it for the kid….not of legal age.
Gun safety is offered at 14 for hunting. It's okay to enjoy gun sports with your kid, unless he's a mental case.
Amen Dr Gary!! I thought I was the only one who thought why can't we have a test for potential parents? It's so scary that others raise others and so many shouldn't!
If the parent is supplying the fentanyl the parent is charged.
Excellent episode you guys! Thanks
Jen made a comment to police that her Worst fear was that Stefan would leave her for her daughter. That’s the Woody Allen comment. Also they have a text message from Jen to Stephen saying that she cannot risk Maddie sleeping in their bed anymore.
The answer to your question of "Why did I survive?" It's for the need of another.
You are so right! I appreciate your comment!
Great show, three great minds!
Adore, adore, adore you three!!! 💓
In one of Jens interviews she tells L.E that she told S.S she doesn't want this to turn into a W.A situation, she says she told S.S "you can't do that to me" doesn't want her daughter falling in love w S.S and they run away together when she is 18. ..it's so bizarre! Also her text she sent S.S "I can't sleep w Maddie anymore it's too risky " wtf is that about? She says many unusual things "stash" my daughter he could have stashed a body ? Wow
Btw, I adore and respect all 3 of the panels opinions, philosophies etc, and agree w all 3 of the panel 99.9% of time
Dr. B’s differentiation between age, location, and degree of harm in school shootings was very enlightening. Thank you. You three make a great panel-truly enjoy every minute.
If the kid kills people w a gun from the parents home, there should be liability, if they get a gun off the streets than no they shouldn't face liability. The kid selling drugs most likely isn't getting from parents at home but if they did, that the parents should be held liable
Agreed. It’s called logic or common sense.
I believe that in some cases parents should be held responsible for sure.
Great show. Love the call-ins…..great people, great questions, great insight from you guys. Josh one day I will tell my story. Have a good day.
I think the issue with Jennifer Soto is that she uses mental health as a shield, and yet it falls apart when she's selectively invoking it like a sword. It triggers so many, because it's demonstrative of something more calculative. Yet it only serves to undermine this gullible/ I'm not smart/ I'm a victim narrative. What's troubling is she is apt enough at selectively invoking this narrative or sword, yet lacks the intelligence or social acuity to pull it off. Someone who is gullible for example doesn't need to state it, they just behave in gullible ways. Jennifer Soto's behaviour is demonstrative of a cognitive ability sufficient enough so as to selectively recall and forget details that would otherwise incriminate her, yet we are left scratching our heads because she doesn't quite have a grasp on the social nuances or dynamics going on to be able to pull it off. I think the "feeling" so many of us are triggered by, yet simultaneously confounded by is the above.
Also her behaviour/responses are not consistent. She can in fact be emotional/distraught, just that it is when it about herself or Sterns. Talk of her de@d child = NOTHING.
OKAY I’m crying! Great show! I would tune in every week!
Another Great show! Thanks guys 🙂
Loved the show, the best guests and the best debates. ❤❤❤
Be kind to other's, everyone has or is going through something hard.
Js told ss to not do what woody Allen did. She said don't do that to me
Cars can kill people too! Do we take them away? Absolutely right Chris
The parallel is wrong. The Colt situation is like... the cops warn you your son had threatened to drive a car, underage, and slam it into people. You then gift him for Christmas a car, knowing he's a young teen who can't legally drive, and he does exactly what he fantasized about doing. Yes, that would be a crime. Get it?
We all have great respect for each other so please don't misread our differences in opinion as anything but just that.
Oh yes I agree with those circumstances, I was just generalising what Chris said about you can’t blame the instrument as people will find a way, guns, knives, vehicles and “paper cups “
Much love and respect
I absolutely love you all thank you so much 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I think sometimes partners put up with abuse because they are deeply afraid they will not be able to survive being alone.
Seeing the interview with Jenn following the police showing her the pictures, she was sitting there talking.
If that situation involved my granddaughter, I couldn't be sitting there. My blood pressure raises just thinking about it. It was almost like she already knew it and dealt with it. I will be honest regardless if it isn't popular, someone who molested my granddaughter would not make it to prison UNLESS he were to get to jail and beg them to save him. I talk to my granddaughters all the time.
I don't assume someone is innocent. Bringing in another person around my grandkids is huge to me. I couldn't ever allow someone in my bed and my granddaughter in the same bed. I think it should be instincts. We can't just trust people. I have trust issues and there are reasons. Idk about Jenn. I found myself hollering at her during the interview. I don't think she participated but I can't believe she didn't know. Stevie Wonder would have seen it. When there is a physical relationship, it shows. There's something there you can see. It's horrifying that she was abused all those years then murdered.
The more Chris speaks, the more I love him.
I love you guys, you are so good together, hilarious 🙂
Holding parents accountable for negligence and culpability when enabling negative consequences should be done. We need laws that any threat of shooting up schools is taken seriously and mandatory removal and access to any weapons is implemented. Mental Health is mandatory and follow up for next 5 plus years. Children's services when called for abuse by parents need to do better and get all involved mental health help and get these kids out of these damaging homes. bullying in schools etc is at all time high thanks to social media. Too many sui cides due to it and threats of retaliation via shootings.... we need to hold bulies accountable as well. and that does include parents. Too many people are crappy parents... they need to smarten up. As for drugs and deaths all dealers are responsible. no matter the age, we have laws that exist for that..
I knew I liked you, Dr Gary! Fantastic debate all. Refreshing to hear a discussion.
Fabulous show. 😊
Bc we have free will. And when we overcome tge evil at our own free will, we are free to move forward to the next level
Wonderful show and actually made me realise my malignant narcissist mother & abusive alcoholic dad with me being gated but person early yrs being the one protecting my big brother I actually now realise I was trauma bonded to my mother! W
I lost my brother at 28yrs he was 29, my job to go to funeral directors to arrange funeral! I’ve been no contact for 30yrs with her games & lies as I was scapegoat but she turned my little sister against me after I brought her up! Destroying family she did
Great live conversation! 👍
The giggles. Sick.
What?
I absolutely love the debate going on and I agree with both of you actually. My opinion is that these situations should create a NEW kind of charge, but under the category of something like neglect instead of manslaughter. Like put it on the same level as the extreme ones, but give it a different name so that it specifies that the negligence results in the death of others and not the child themselves. But obviously putting this in place will take a lot longer to do than dropping a manslaughter charge.... (apologies ahead of time if I got any legal terms wrong haha)
I remember Sylvia Lykins. I grew up in Indiana. I even visited her grave a couple years ago.
Oh wow what. Happen sylvia
Awesome show!
How about not allowing anyone under 21 to own a gun and have to take gun responsibility lessons that they must complete and own a certificate to prove this. A Doctor should also sign as to the mental fitness to own the gun. After all you can't legally drink alcohol or smoke until you are 21. Thanks for this great chat tonight.
Thankyou !!!❤
@Chris M that's the name of an REO SPeedwagon album...You can tune a piano but you can't tuna fish
Hello Everyone!!
Short term listener, long time lurker. :) Love this set up so much. Retro vibe call in to the best panel. Thank you so much for bringing this to us, the peeples :) Do you take calls all the way from Ireland? ;)
My favorite therapy time!
I’m the car analogy I think the parent should be charged with neglect (?) and the child needs to have consequences, possibly manslaughter. I don’t know the US law on the age of the child being a factor.
In the UK , the Jamie Bulger case, the offending children ages approximately 8 years old were charged and convicted of murders. Held in a young offender’s institution until old enough to go to prison
She made a comment to the cops that she was worried the situation between maddy and stephan would turn into a woody allen situation.
I can't understand why the grandmother didn't pick up on why she cried to stay.Iwould have let her especially when Maddie s birthday was next day I know I would have kept my granddaughter without a doubt Lesley England
Love your show. I have a question.... Why can i be fascinated by discussions of murder, evil, predators but I am highly triggered by the gun debate. I had to leave and skip over it and catch the replay on the rest of the show. Seriously, I can't listen to it! I wonder why I am so bothered by opposing views.
Can’t accept getting giving guns or cars to your own children. Particularly angry kids.
But what about when u loved ur 4 daughters was good mom and as adults they blame everthing that ever went wrong on you and only complain
I think yall are arguing different things when it comes to guns/kids/parents. I think when you have this conversation again, wrote down your bottom line and stick to it with your argument. All of you are right. My thoughts overall....everything you guys argued I would immediately say...that boils down to communication/relationship woth the parents and kids. In other words, most of these issues go back to that relationship. The loss of a true bond with parent and child. Children with a solid foundation and strong bond with their parents, don't shoot up schools. The gun argument here really doesn't have place here. They are our right. The argument boils down to mental stability.....where all of you started.
Ss may turn evidence on js too
Jen had wonder where ss was getting so much money from as she wasn't working till recently
❤❤❤
How can anyone say that a 13 year old is not know the difference between right & wrong? If they don't then apparently the parent did not teach them anything from as young as one/2 years old
The law says 18.
I just chuckled with my coffee because of Chris’ jokes. Please bring pull-my-finger Chris to more of these 🫧
Chris got aweful quiet. Wonder what’s on his mind.
Bipolar high s busy busy lows. In bed depressed
Of he kill a person. Ur guilty too
Why do bad things happen to good peopke
Like stephan sterns scareyies person ever
I believe D. Trump set a horrible example for people, especially those who have not emotionally matured, that bullying and being crude is totally socially acceptible. Many people would discipline their children for the same behaviour.
I believe you are wrong. But I don't hate you. Have a great day!
I think you are absolutely right. He's an awful person.
Sorry but these call ins are annoying, too may interrupting each other. Dr G is great.
Unsubbing if you're gonnna strike other channels from using your clips. Bye bye 👋
Devastating.
Ummm I don't think Josh cares 🤷 Bye no need for the great announcement 👋
See ya later, bye! 👋
1:47:48 good points Chris. This discussion was good.
On the replay, Dr. Gary touched on my pain. At seven years old my mother told me that “she wished she had kept her legs closed the second time “. I am the second child. She is an abusive mother in many ways. I’m almost 50 years old and I still don’t know how to process how a mother can be like her.
I'd love to hear Dr. Gary's thoughts on the Carly Gregg case.
I feel like Jen Soto's mental health is important. I feel like she had a problem with medication. And clearly he was a trickster manipulator.. these guys seem like bums to us but they are good at it. How many years? I dunno.
I heard that story
Yes
