Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 жов 2017
- This painting was accomplished using transparent watercolors on a quarter sheet ( 11” x 15”) of 140 lb cold press Lanaquarelle watercolor paper. The colors used were Sap green, Pyrrole Red, Quinacridone Gold, Quinacridone Coral, Gamboge, Qinacridone Violet, Muave, Royal Blue, and Alizarin Crimson . I also used a very fine mist spray bottle made by Atelier. If you learned from and enjoyed this demonstration be sure to like, subscribe, and turn on your post notifications. Love the "glow" you achieved in upper corner of background. I wasn't sure when you started to add the orange tones (how appeared on my screen - Quin Coral?), but in the end it all came together. The sunflowers are glowing. Another great video Rick.
Thanks Mary! Yes, the glow is Quinacridone Coral and Quinacridone Gold. I just picked up some of that mixture and worked it into the wash I was putting down then went back to the red purple tone.
Wow wow wowser !

Thanks again for these precious demos. I have not watched them all and I wondered if you made one that focused more particularly on layering or glazing wet on dry with real time step by step. Many thanks.

Thank you!
Amazing!!! Thank you! I'm committing 366 in 2020 to doing 1 watercolor a day! May I ask, what was the tool you scraped across your painting to reveal white lines? Did i miss a step? What was on the paper? Masking fluid? Thanks again.
Yes Masking fluid. I removed it with a rubber cement pick up eraser. This link will take you to the masking suppllies I use: rsurowiczart.com/sp-masking/
I make several attempts at each painting, redrawing it each time. The skill I am trying to develop is watercolor yet I spend a lot of time drawing. Is it a better idea to draw it once and transfer to the watercolor color paper each time?
When I have a subject that I'm going to paint multiple times with different techniques. I draw it once and transfer it as you suggest.
Beautiful!!! Ever think about teaching on line?
Thanks Laurie! That's actually something I have planned in the future to some degree. I've started with self paced online courses, which are now available, but I plan to expand that. Thanks for asking!
Are you a Daniel Smith water-colour fan Rick? They have quite a line of quinacridone colours, so can I assume your Quin. Coral is DS's brand?
Yes I am a fan of DS watercolors. My Quinacridone Coral and Quinacridone Gold are DS. My Quinacridone violet is American Journey. My Quinacridone Gold is the recently discontinued PO 49 formula which I was able to get enough of to hold me over for a while.

Too difficult
Gorgeous!!!
