Hey Buddy, I'm calling out your trick in the first video of this series, on the crazy ass rock roll of RdS. The crash part is from another flowy trail.L.OL. You sent that pro line roll like nothing. That depth looks impressive in person but no idea it was about 6 feet. I'm 5'4" myself so I understand why the compression is that intense, so much so that cost me my left collarbone. Frame by frame I was able to see where you lifted the front wheel to minimize the compression. Well done Man. Not that I'd want to give it another :-D However, You're an inspiration to improve one's riding. Cheers.
Some people still give props for irresponsible decisions like that. I’d say in a Skills with Phil comment section we’re in good company. Great work! 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
This is a perfect time I live in largo in Florida and you used to live in Miami I believe. I frequently ride at santos and Alafia are there any other good places to mountain bike near me.
Big Dick Energy hahahah. He made it look so easy, Shale Master has a decent compression and he just rode it so chill on a trail bike. Phil is really effing good.
You and Seth are the reasons I got into mountain biking I can’t thank you enough I’ve had so much fun this past year getting better and watching your and Seth’s videos.
I totally agree. I feel I should mention to both Phil and Seth I have a secret trail that needs naming. It's also ride in/out on Whistler . Maybe a future video?
Phil, thank you. I am 58 yrs old. I know there was mountain biking back in the 1970's, but I did not know it existed. We had no internet to advertise that sort of stuff. I am a retired veteran with too many issues to do this sort of stuff now. This is where the thanks comes in. I am living vicariously through your video's...and some others...but you are my favorite! I know your channel is geared to your generation, but this boomer loves watch the rides. Thank you kind sir...Thank you!
I'm amazed how many people who don't mountain bike end up watching these videos. I also really enjoy reading comments like this, and thank you for taking the time to write it.
I like your riding technique Phil. Go over it instead of ploughing through it. That's how I see it in my minds eye and how I used to do it as well. I am from Asheville NC and just getting back on a bike after 18 years. Will be good to get my skills back.
Goooood Loooooorrrrrd!! That was insane! I'm guessing that rock roll/drop/death wish feature at the end of "ride don't slide" is one of those that 99% of the riders roll up to, and go around without even giving it a second thought. That's not one of those where you try it, and it goes wrong, and you go OTB....tuck and roll, and usually jump up from. That's one of those where you crash and get hauled off. That looked RIDICULOUS even on camera, so I know in person it has to literally look unriedeable. I loved how you were cruising along, gapping stuff, and laughing. So much fun to watch. Your editing lately has been DEAD ON, and I can't wait for the third installment!
Man, the GoPro effect is strong with this one. So many of those trails look easy enough even for me, then you switch to third-person view and NOPE! 6-foot drops to flat, insane gnar, trees and root waiting to kill you. Whistler's on my bucket list, but not these particular trails. 26:34 - I agree with everything you said here. I just wish I could have heard it. Volume's way too low. I had to turn my volume all the way up, and even then it was difficult. And I'm wearing earphones, too! And then it jumps back to the normal video and POW! Eardrums blasted out! I also loved seeing the POV from the women near the end. I don't know why that was so cool, but it was. Stay upright and keep the rubber side down. -Brian
They are building a new SUPER BERM trail off south park in Creekside right now. It looks amazing so far. Will try and take some photos in next few days
This is incredible. Your lines are something else. It’s what’s its all about, having as much fun as you can on the trail. Popping off and sending everything. 🤯🤘😄. Nice vids Phil. Quality stuff keep it up.
The follow footage at the end was really great to see. Because of the GoPro effect, the in flight footage is cool but doesn't make the viewer feel the air. But man, the lack of sound in the air brought me right back to ski jumping. There were a couple of jumps that made me catch my breath because of how long you were off the ground. Excellent video!
Well this was the best 34 minutes I think I’ve ever spent on UA-cam. Sick video dude. Such excellent footage of an amazing ride. Can’t wait to get back on my bike soon 🤘
Crazy Skills Phil! its sooo cool to watch the pro's after seeing thousands of every day riders! You Attack the trail, don't just go along for the ride!! Awesome vid! U da man!
Ugh shit 🙈!!!! I had the good audio track overlaid, but somewhere in the mix i must have deleted it or muted it accidentally leaving only the scratch audio track. It's hard to catch all these little errors with long videos. 🤷🏼♂️
@@SkillsWithPhil Oh man! Share it in instagram story and i go and listen to it. No worries! AWESOME VIDEO and your riding skills blew my mind all over again!
I love your style of riding! I used to ride like that when I was a teenager. Haven’t been in the game for like 15+ years just getting back into it hope to get that style of riding back.
1.) this is my favorite POV footage of whistler I have ever seen. It got me so stoked to want to go and ride!!! 2.) what shoes were you using during all this? My five ten impacts recently wore out and I’ve been in debate about what shoe to get next?🤔
This reminds me of the scene in "Finding Nemo" where the sea turtle says to the clownfish "you have some serious thrill issues" or something along those lines, lol. How "squirmy" did the flat rear tire feel on those high-G berms?
That longest skid contest you were talking about at 33:16 happened at Woodward east week 7 last summer. It was pretty much an impromptu skid battle. It was fun, people went all the way down the hill by the cabins brakes fully locked out. If you haven't been to Woodward, go. It's a sick place.
I was a camper at Camp woodward (east) in 2003-04. We also did a skid contest on the hill where the cage. I think there's a snake run there now, but it used to be all grass.
Phil you just simply nail it, such a good ride. I'm glad to see you are back after a few months of not content :) Sometime you should make a sessioning with Jordan Boostmaster
@skillswithphil While you’re up at Whistler if you got an extra day consider checking out Galbraith Mountain in Bellingham WA. Super fun community sustained trail system. Definitely worth anyone’s time for some awesome free park time
I am just getting back into riding but man watching you ride gets my heart rate up. That stuff is way to extreme for me to probably ever attempt but cool to watch.

ho-lee-crap, man! That was some serious speed thru those sections...you were passing Ludacris and headed towards Plaid! How you pulled those last second turns and not become one with several different trees...wow.
Dig your style bud, sick bike colors...I ride a specialized rockhopper....nothing fancy but all the spank upgrades has a very similar color....sick ride man

Dirt Merchant with a flat tire? Looks like I need to order some Nobl wheels.
Cush Core played a big part.
They would be toast without Cushcore.
Part 3 would be like "Phil, you don't have tires"
Phil: "I'm not worried about it." :D
Phil with Skills!!!
More like no rims... *Skids down mountain on frame* 😂
Phil I could watch you ride all day every day and never get tired of it!

Love the natural sound of the bike riding. As a beginner, it teaches me a lot.
17:13 that face palm moment was a crack up!! 😂😂😂 Great riding all round btw!!
Can’t wait for the Wyn video, that guy rules!!!
If Phil can find an alternate route, consider it an official trail
How ridiculously enjoyable is this to watch. You make it look so easy.
