Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is an upcoming first-person shooter video game under development by Ubisoft Montreal and to be published by Ubisoft. It was announced by Ubisoft on June 9, 2014 at E3. The game uses Ubisoft's AnvilNext game engine. Considered as a successor to the now cancelled Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Patriots, Siege puts heavy emphasis on environmental destruction and co-operation between players. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege will be released on December 1, 2015.
m Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is a first-person tactical shooter, in which players take control of an operator from the Rainbow team, a counter-terrorist unit. Different operators have different nationalities, perks, abilities and equipment. For instance, an operator named Twitch is equipped with a drone that can stun enemies with electric shock, while Smoke has the ability to detonate poison gases around, which can effectively lower the health of enemies in the affected areas. As a result, the game features an asymmetrical structure. Each side also gain access to a "Recruit", whose gears and gadgets can be customized by players to meet the requirement of a match. Players can only play as one of the classes in a match, and cannot be switched throughout. Powerful weapons, like grenades and breach charges are valuable, as their number are limited under the system. Team-work is encouraged in Siege, and players are tasked to integrate their abilities to eliminate their enemies.Communications between players are also encouraged.

Players can plan their attack before a match begins. The attackers have the ability to send a drone to detect the environment and to find the enemies and targets they are seeking for, while the defenders could fortify certain areas to prevent attackers' attack. The attackers can pick from multiple locations to deploy their attacks.Maps in the game are designed to be close-quartered, and players cannot respawn but can be revived by their fellow temmates after their defeat. The reason for that is that the developer wanted to encourage players to utilize teamwork, tactics, and to create tension throughout the game, which was called "the three main pillars" by Ubisoft Montreal. Time allowed for each match is also short. Verticality is among one of the key elements when designing the game's maps. Players can breach-charge ceilings and floors, as well as ambushing enemies by rappelling through breakable windows.The game will also feature heavy emphasis on destruction, which is one of the major reasons lead to the cancellation of Rainbow Six: Patriots. It is also "the center of the experience" of Siege in accordance to Andrew Witts, the game's designer.[A procedural destruction system is featured in the game. Players can break structures by planting explosives on them, or to make bullet holes on walls by shooting it. The environments of the game feature a layered material system, in which environmental objects of different materials will show different reactions to player's attack. Players may gain tactical advantages through environmental destruction, and that the system aims at encouraging players to utilize creativity and strategy.In order to create a realistic gameplay, a bullet penetration system will be featured, in which bullets deal less damage when they hit enemies through structures. In addition to destruction, players can also build fortified barriers and shields around them for protection, but can be destroyed through breaching and utilizing melee-weapons like hammers. In order to stop attackers' attacks, defenders can place traps like barbed-wire around the maps. Different modes will be featured in the final game, with the first mode shown being the Hostage Mode, in which attackers must extract the hostage, either male of female, from the defenders, while the defenders must prevent that from happening.
The game will also feature a co-operative mode, previously called "Terrohunt" but now renamed to "Terrorist Hunt", which supports up to five different players. Players will take on the role of either attackers or defenders, and must fight against waves of enemies controlled by artificial intelligence. The game also features a single-player campaign. Every level in the campaign can be played solo or co-cooperatively with other players. Similar to other multiplayer modes, the campaign does not allow players to respawn when they are killed by enemies.

Man......i remember first playing. Played nonstop on console for 4 years then switched to pc. What an amazing game. So many great and fun experiences. Just wish they kept the dark dynamic lighting around. Looked more realistic. Edit: Thanks for all the likes guys!

Lighting and shading. They made everything brighter and everything just looks washed now but u can see better with new lights its more competetive than "beautiful"

they changed the lighting and shading because the game is hyper competitive nowadays, it would be "unfair" to not be able to see people clearly in all environments. It was a way to keep up with todays top FPS games.

6 years already, met so many people on this game but the funniest scenario was when i was playing with a few people from my hometown for a month and we didnt know at the time, we went out to the bar and grabbed alot of beers day we found out we lived less than a mile from eachother and been good friends for the past 6 years😄

I discovered the game last year at October
I had a lot of fun discovering the game, trying to be tactical
Now I’m level 100 and I main Kaid and Alibi in defense and Zero, IQ, and Nøkk in attack
But when I compare the game now and when it was before, R6S lost a lot, less more realistic and less tactical (you can still rush without having to much penalty… when Kapkan just oneshot you, you understood that rushing wasn’t a good idea)
I’m Belgian and one sentence is kinda what rainbow six siege is now : « Rainbow Six Piège » ~> Rainbow Six Trap
Because you can just win with traps
When you no more have time and all the objective zone is protected with Aruni, Goyo Shield and Kapkan traps how can you go in ?
I now that the gadget are there to make the game unique compare to others game where it’s essentially an « weapon » shooter game
But the gadgets in R6S make it original and can make an turnaround
With the time, operators get changed, but they don’t must be changed/adjust to much
For castle for example, why everything can break his special barricades ?
I understand that breach charge and Ash’s infiltration gadget can destroy it
But isn’t is too easy for Ace, Sledge, Hibana to destroy it too ?
It isn’t a « castle » anymore… make that op less useful
It’s one example, but a lot of operators are being nerfed to the point where they are useless
Mute in Y6S4, Blackbeard with just 20HP Shield, Finka that can’t heal herself while she is down but Doc can, Zofia/Tachanka can’t no more stand up with 1hp
And then there are nerfs for good balanced operators (like example above) and nothing at annoying operators like Clash that is always banned because you can do nothing at her when 1v1

I also like the different times of period the maps could be on in ranked, I hate the noon time maps because whenever you're trying to look outside as a defender its like the fucking sun is exploding.

Yeah it’ll never come back because they want the game to be “fair and competitive” but the game was a lot more realistic back then. The lighting, graphics, recoil on guns and operators.
I like how back then, everyone played this super tactical and had no clue what they're doing.
No one knew the concept of spawnpeeking (mostly), bandit tricking, vertical play and rarely roam

after year 1 i went recruit for fun/ serious play... got 169 recruit aces... havent been on since they started doin recruit dirty (taking him out of ranked and forcing op unlocks on my smurf accounts) i only have 6 accounts that can do recruit in ranked now 😂 (6 accounts lvl 50+) im a nerrrd, man. congrats to everyone who got to play year 1 👍🏻

Miss these early days so much man, what a great atmosphere and sense of realism.
They've really simplified the game. I miss the barely lit rooms and sense of realism. I wish there was a way to play old maps again, too. Old oregon was one of my favorite, if not my overall favorite, original maps.

@xvicio98 yea. I mean, sure, there's a lot more operators to learn, but they've numbed down and removed a lot of mechanics and features. Bullet holes, changing recoil, making it where a 1 speed and a 3 speed move at the same speed while ads, made crouch walking louder, slowed down leaning speeds, removed the ability to throw back grenades that land near you, put a slight glow on operators so they're easier to see, they added attacker repick (which I would say simplified things bc you can change your attacker depending on site, defenders, etc, but I don't mind attacker repick), they made it where the bosg couldn't shoot through plane windows, added tutorials (not a bad thing), and the list goes on. You may not count the things I listed as simplified, but when I was new to the game, all of that was a lot to learn. But learning it all gave me an advantage to people who didn't learn it, just as others had an advantage over me when I was learning it. They've changed and removed a lot of things to make the game simpler for newer players. It's not exactly a bad thing, but I wish some mechanics were still in the game
Edit: You even used to have to buy each individual attachment for each individual gun, which means that as a new player, if you wanted to try a new loadout, you needed to play a few matches to get enough renown to unlock the new attachments. I wanna say the pathfinder operators used to cost a lot more as well but I may be wrong on that
@@Ghost-_-Gav i see where you are coming from. I guess it was needed to simplify these aspects of the game in Order to not overwhelm to much new player even tho they are still overwhelmed. I‘d still say the game is more complex now than before. For example I could counter the lion scan with vigil to flank the enemy but a jackal was there to scan me and dismiss the flank. So many interaction between operators that I always find new ones
@xvicio98 That's how that has always been, tho. The only counter to jackal is mute or cavi. Vigil has always been able to counter lion since lions little rework. The game definitely has a learning curve. In the past, the same as now, when a new gun or map or operator is introduced, everyone has to learn it. In the past, you had to worry about things like bullet hole peeks and such. It's definitely not a simple game, but it is more simple than it was in the past in my opinion because while you still have to learn counters as you always have, they've taken away some more complicated aspects like ela and zofia not having the same effects as other ops when hit with each other's concussion mines/impacts, or echos phone not ringing when dokkaebi calls

I played about 500 Hours of sige right after it's release and I miss it a lot. Everything was just focused arround the realism and so was the community at the time (at least the people I encountered). The people would actually defend the Objective iunstead of 3-4 people just roaming arround. Man this video realy takes me back. I remember, when the (first) Season Pass and black ice where announced, they promissed so much for the game. Like a new game mode...well the only thing that changed about gamemodes 5 Years later is the los of two of them in ranked.

Remember the game didn’t have operators dressed like cartoon characters with gadgets that are super weird and super strategic? I wish they stuck to the small things, electrified traps, battering ram type things, under barrel shotguns, full metal jacket bullets, body armor, and other shit like that. Not holograms and electric shields.
I mean everything changes, and it wouldn't be the game I love and play today if it didn't change.

Man I remember when I first started playing this game at 13, I was infatuated, I always wanted to play a pvp tactical shooter, I mean I still got love for the game and how much love its been getting recently, but its just not cinematic anymore, they need to bring back night maps with heavy rain so the gunfights are harder due to audio of the rain.
Idk why I got recommended this almost 8 years later, but holy shit this brings me back. *This* is the siege I fell in love with. I still like siege and play regularly, but it’s a sad shell of what is was here and what it could’ve/should’ve been. Too much pandering to the competitive scene as well as marketing/micro transactions ripped out almost all the soul this game had. I’m glad videos like this still exist from the good ole’ days.

I really wished Ubisoft developed a story for this game. They made the terrorists sound like a serious threat with the opening cinematic and with the Bartlett mission. So much potential for an awesome story that never happened. Damn shame.
