I've used the 210mm Yatos for years now. I bought them when someone blew my CK ones and liked them a lot and even when he replaced my CKs I kept using the Yatos
Thank you. Looking for a pair as I was tasked with cutting a tail today. Mark but I've opted for CK 210mm model (it's on offer at Toolstation for £14.23 at moment). Appreciate the info on the video - good timing for me!
The Yatos need a lot of use to "Free them up" But they cut lovely. I cleaned off the factory oil and added new GT50 lube . Then as often as possible use them like grass clippers really quickly . I can feel the difference a lot
I’ve used Klein side cutting pliers since I first start, over 15 years. Never got on with side cutters like every electrician and never used croppers in my life but I might pick up a set and try. Quick question, can you double over cables with them?
Croppers are much less versatile than side cutters (diagonal cutters) unfortunately. You can do everything that croppers can with side cutters, but the reverse is not true. Side cutters can be used for prizing out nails, stripping multiple cores in one go, applying more force to stripping cable (croppers tend to dig in with excessive force), and will cut a greater range of cabling i.e coaxial. They will also cut screws when necessary. I've been giving 160mm Tsunoda croppers a go, and whilst they are a nice precision tool for stripping individual cores of cable, they leave you a bit hamstrung for other applications. If you have to choose between the two types of cutters, there is really no contest.
@@electrician247 you can but when I am doing tails I use these www.millsltd.com/default/metermade-25-smart-meter-cable-stripping-tool.html were given to me as a present and thought they were a bit of a gimmick (think pencil sharpener for tails) but they work well.

Croppers are a fantastic tool I have been using them since I left college

I think as you say it's what you are most comfortable with.

I agree croppers everytime for the win. Infinitely better.
I went with the KNIPEX StepCut (160 mm) 95 16 160, £50 from Amazon and go through 25mm2 tails no problem.
Nice, I need to try these! Can you strip with them aswell?
