All of these Malaysia food tour should come with a warning sign at the start "DO NO watching while hungry" lol I hope John will eventually introduce more Peranakan "Baba/Nyonya" cusine in Penang Malaysia, these 2 states = Melaka & Penang were the center of such sub culture. I visited one of the authentic Peranakan mansion, which turned into a museum in Penang, it was so amazing to see all the intricate details of the furniture, jewelries, original paintings and really feels what life mush have been like in the late 1800s. It also has a book store (selling recipe books), a small food court selling delicious treats. I highly recommended for anyone who's visiting.
2:56 correction the Portuguese are not pioneers they are the colonizer who try to take Malaysia or the old name tanah melayu from the people . Either this guy never go to school and failed history class or not even a truly malaysian (outsider who got citizenship) lastly a Malaysian but the type that will do anything to impress outsider
