We are going to be in Costa Rica in March and are considering doing a trip with NomadAmerica. A couple of key questions - first - where do you go to the washroom? Does NomadAmerica come with a portable toilet? And similarly, what about showering on your road trip? We are thinking of mixing in some camp days and some hotel days to maybe take care of the showering issue ... how did you guys manage it?
We mixed in a stay in a bungalow in the rain forest and ended our trip at a resort for 4 days. The vehicles don't have a toilet. Some public beaches we slept at had them. Driving every day led us past bathroom opportunities on the road and we swam a lot in the ocean. Never really felt dirty. But we also packed Shower Pouches which are great for a full body wipe down between showers. The folks at Nomad can help you choose the best route to meet your needs. If you could do us a favor and mention you saw our video, I'd appreciate it. Hope you have a great trip. CR is one of our favorite destinations.
We would typically eat a pretty typical breakfast in the morning. Find a spot to eat lunch while driving during the day. And pick up some local food from the market to cook at camp for the night.
Nice vid!! I'm doing 2 weeks in Sept.with the same setup from Nomad. 2 FJ's but on a different route. All in all, how was your experience with Nomad?? Vehicles, etc. Everything good?? Thx! Bolton
We had a great time and highly recommend them. One of the FJ's developed an electrical issue and a mechanic showed up bright and early to replace an alternator in under an hour. No disruption to our schedule at all. Let them know you watched our video if you don't mind. Enjoy the trip!
Thanks for tuning in. Be sure to check out our website. Here you will find written articles to compliment each video. Typically with answers to most of the questions you may have. We do use GAIA and our campsites are marked in the article. Thanks again and happy new year! www.thegearbunker.com/exploring-costa-rica-overland-with-nomad-america/
I'm curious what month you went in? We are looking at going late October this year and want to hit the end of the rainy season, but before everything dries up as well. Also, how was the water...temperature wise?
We visited the week of Thanksgiving. Late November. Air temps ranged from 75-85F on the coast. 60's in the mountainous rain forests. I didn't measure the water temperatures but they were very enjoyable on the Pacific side. If you decide to rent from Nomad America, please let them know about The Gear Bunker video. I'd like to offer a discount code with them at some point in the future.
I just found these guys, going in February. Will be checking your website and be sure to tell them I saw your video. So excited
