I like how he stares into my soul before playing
Totally!
If there were more cool people in this veil of tears your comment would have a hundred million 'likes' and this instructional video would have a billion views because there would be 500 million bass players and a billion people who would dig the shit out of the fucking subtle brilliance of your post.
And 8 billion people who have loved this song since it came out in '77.
😱
I think it needs a little more staring so it’s a 9/10. Stare at the camera for one more minute before you start the song lol
The stare at the end.
Tina Weymouth learned bass just to play for Talking Heads. So underrated. Great tutorial! Going to play it right now!
Just got my first bass. This is the song I wanted to learn right away. Cheers.
The ending is tricky. The bridge is too. It's a very fun song to play. When you master it, you will be a much better bass player. Good luck. This video will help you immensely.
@@fivestring65ify ending is especially tricky with a pick! It would be easy peasy if played like Harry does with his fingers. (But it's more authentic with a pick).
I ran this one at 75% just to memorize the song. Then ran it again at 100%. Well Done! Great channel. I was able to learn this song really quick.
I use a Slowdowner app. Very helpfull for learning.
wait how!!?
@@ronniemwagner it's built into UA-cam
@@EvanVincent. omg thank you! How did I not know this! Amazing
this is how i learned Dean Town, but i started at like 25% and it took a long time lol
The bass line in this song is like a flirtatious ness, excellent cover.
Not overly complex tabs, but the burn in the fretting hand is real (at least for me) xD Great video
This is my first song i have ever started to learn and im loving it so far
I wanna go back in time and learn this bassline as a teenager beginner bassist again. So much pleasure.
Brilliant cover/lesson. Your channel is becoming a great learning resource-Thank you.
Thank you, Purple Bass. Your comment is very motivating :-). I am glad that my videos are useful.
Cheers for that young man , well happy to learn this. Keep up the good work ! ✌🏻😎👌🏻
Tina Weymouth is the most underestimated bassist. Her lines seem easy until.....
The bass line is genious! You mean until that outro? :-D I hated that part when I was recording this video.
Her and bill Wyman
Tina Weymouth is one of the the best bass player ever.
the thing about the bassline in this isn't complexity, just how it fits in with everything
i think it doesn't matter wether a bass line is easy, some of the greatest that come to my mind just now are rather on the easy side when i think about it. This si a perfect example, the bass part just fits the song and the song wouldnt be that good if it had a more complex bassline with a more sophisticated rythm etc - its genious comes from the "easy" but on point groove
Thanks so much. The way you compose your screen space with the tabs running next to your fretting made this really entrancing. Great sound you achieved as well. 🤟
Very smooth and wonderful playing on such an iconic song.
He seems very tense and nervous at the beginning, almost as if he can't relax...
I had spasm during this song for some reason. And sice it was done in about 10-20 takes I was kinda nervous each time if I'll be able to finish it. It's getting better with spams now. I just have a guitarist's hands... not used to a bigger fretboard :-).
Happy to know you're getting better, I was just making a silly reference joke about the song haha, I'm sorry if that made you feel bad, either way that's an amazing video, I revisit it every once in a while, and your playing is very good as well, much love to you and hope the channel grows a lot!
Oh I got it now! :-D :-D Thank you so much for your nice comment and your support :-). I am already thrilled how many people subscribed. :-)
I dunno man, I think might be one of the youtube conspiracies where someone is forced to make videos. Except, of course, funky bass lines instead.
Maybe he couldn't sleep last night cause his bed was on fire...
El cover más esperado por toda latinoamerica unida
Got everything down . Especially the muting with the right hand fingers. Alot of players miss that detail . Best rendition on youtube I've seen.
Thanks for putting the time and effort into doing this. Can’t wait to dive in.
the best bass cover I seen on UA-cam.
Your technique is so clean!
thank you so much for adding the regular notes in too!! i play upright bass and have been trying to learn it but all i could find were bass guitar tabs so thank you!
Harry, thank you for all your videos. I've learned songs from you. Smile more often, you look like your not sure. Great job Harry.
I really enjoy this presentation of the bass line. The Stop Making Sense concert video version of this song is not my favorite version because it greatly (completely?) downplays the bass. That concert is fantastic, a classic, I watch it over and over....yet I'd rather listen to this version and this presentation of Psycho Killer. Thanks for such a good video. I'm now an 'old guy' who spent waaay too much of my life not appreciating the bass playing on songs. So many wasted years of not realizing how much bass guitar does for music.
As an 'old guy' I agree. Having just taken up bass, I am now re-enjoying music at a whole new level. Following JPJ's lines in Stairway to Heaven for the first time!
Excellent video - concise and to the point. Thanks.
Hey harry. Jamie from New Zealand. Thank you for your awesome easy bass breakdowns. Brought a bass just before lockdown and can play fairly well (ish) thanks to you. Cheers bro !!
Great stuff! Love the notation and tabs!
Hey I really appreciate your channel dude. I've been learning a lot of cool baselines thanks to you.
Keep up the good work! Sexy bass btw.
I loved it. Thanks for your time in doing this.
Thank you so much Luis! :-) I'm glad it helped
That was fantastic.MUSIC to my ears.
Don't know why so hostile but fuck you too sir
@C o k e yeah no shit, that was the joke
@C o k e ok
Great work! Love this song, and your bass playing! :) Glad I found you! :)
Your the best bass teacher on you tube thanks
at 2:36 you are supposed to play 4-2-0 on the D string and 0 on the A string, then move it down one string for the higher part.
Estamos com saudades dos seus vídeos, já faz um mês que não tem conteúdo novo no canal. Aqui do Brasil. Parabéns pelo trabalho 👏🏻👏🏻
Wow! real music staff and notes, subscribed.
This is so useful! I really do appreciate the video.
Thank you so much for your nice comment, Martin! :)
That was good. Well played. You did the Talking Heads justice. 👍
The way you set this up is awsome I was able to learn the song super quick!
Thank you so much, Jenna ☺ I'm glad it works for you. I based it on my experience with learning new stuff.
I agree i only heard the song once then went to look for for tabs and stumbled upon this and it was very quick to learn off! This is a very good and practical way to learn by watching someone else play it, i was able to get the rhythm and timing right and the played along.
Your videos are amazing, thank you so much!
Simply & Tricky
That outro!!! props!
Well done. I finally learned the ending :-)
I watch a bunch of bass tab channels. And HolY SmokeS you are fantastic. Such precision. I'm going to learn a ton from you!

the ending is so hard for me. not because of the tab or anything but having to do it that repetitive for that long lol it's still fun though and i appreciate this video !

@@HarryMusicStuff, you're welcome. I'm a beginner bass player and your videos are really very helpful.
Man if you get any more excited, your head is going to explode. Just kidding. Great bass cover. I've been working out with this one recently. This is a very fun bass line to play. Tina is a great bass player. I'm now subscribed.
Muito bom!!! Parabéns
The 1980 years, what a good time for me. I love it. Thank you for the good job. Tablannote Vision A5 A5 A5 A5, A5 A5 A5 E G3 ......and so it goes EmaB

Nice sound.
Tina is a bass GOD!!!
COOL SONG I LIKE IT
THANKS MISTER
i love the sigh of relief after the outro riff xD
Great!
My fingers and abilities say "goodbye" starting 2:21 :D
How's it going? Also if you haven't done it yet, you can move your whole hand Instead of stretching your fingers
Now that's a bass bridge saddle holy shit
I,m learning this and my fingers hurt so much but this is my dream and pain it temporary
Thanks!
Thank you :-)
Thank you for you comment Damodrummer1!
I’m gonna have to learn that outro at half speed!
Allah razı olsun Abla (God bless you sister)
Great job as usual man. Please do "This Must Be The Place".
Muy linda gracias
GOOD COVER ..I
Thank you Steven! :-)
V:; conocí esta cancion por te lo resumo, y ahora deseo hacer un cover v:;
Mucha diversión! Gracias amigo
Lo que importa es el amor el amor heterosexual :v
Me puse en modo Psycho Killer tocando esto
El comentario que esperaba xd
Yo igual
*EPIC*
ay esta fue la primera canción q me aprendí T__T 💓
Cool- Tina actually plays the open A-string for the main riff, but either works.
I saw a live video and she really plays an open A-string. But for me, the studio version sounds a lot like the 5th fret on E string.
gracias capo
great cover (extra note at the end of the chorus phrase and the ending part sounds better played with an open a string)
my guitar strings broke and while I don't have money to buy others I'm studying bass. it's much easier and fun, i'm really enjoying it
Killer I'm a novice, thanks so much.
