My favorite gospel group. My dad used to take me to see them ‘live’ every year when I was in grade & Jr high school and the sound was spectacular! Very moving. He use to play this album every day. Nice memory.
Oh my God..... I hadn't heard this in ages!! This was the way gospel was sung back in the day. It was REAL! I hear ya Lil' Shot. The harmony is out of this world!
This is one of the most powerful songs the violinaires ever done. I'm lost for words when you really listen to the vocals on this . Every one compliments each other. The vocals have so much power and control. They have always been my favorite gospel group of all time.
I have heard many lesser known quartets try to duplicate some of the more well known quartets like The Soul Stirrers, Harmonizing Four, Dixie Hummingbirds, etc but The Violinaires can't be duplicated!
This is what drew me to the Fantastic Violinaires. This is what you call theatrical gospel music. Music that's for Broadway plays and stage. This separated the Violinaires from traditional gospel quartets. Listen to those distinct voices that just captivates the audiences. Blair, Little Shot, JC Smith, Charlie Brown, Jim Byers, Murray Durham: The Fantastic Violinaires on Chess Records were the #1 gospel group in America.
Lil' shot is the best at this in his day. And still today many can't touch his vocal style. His style was carried on by Danny in his own style and touch. Danny is real soft and smooth. Lil' shot soft , ruff all around vocalist. Lil' shot will always be the best at this game to me.
@@lynnwalker9015 Rev. Claude Jeter was the original falsetto singer the other came after imatating him, but in the words of Rev. Jeter there were others that came after him that could sing higher than himself...
I remember this when I was a little girl we had one small radio and my mother and all six of us would gather around the radio and listen to this song. Thank you for sending this video it brings back so many memories this is real singing, you can relate to this noone is out singing another they are all together. Stand by Me I love this
Yes I remember back in the day going to those programs @ the city auditorium & watch these guys & tIthe Mighty Clouds Of Joy perform with people shouting all over the place these guys were truly Fantastic!
Just awesome, I remember as a young teenager, sitting there in awe watching these greats, such special moment's in time. Thanks again Hewstone. I'm still serching for the other.
Simfield Gospel Singers of Matthews, N.C. tore up this song back in the day. Sam Kirkpatrick was the leader. He did a magnificent job! Patricia McCrorey Washington June 29, 2017
Kristy Bennett-This entire album in pretty good shape cost $150, You can buy it at record convention. They travel the country. Check the internet. Good Karma!
Beatrice Young Claude Jeter was a legendary singer with the Swan Silvertones he was one of first singer to sing in the high range known as falsetto he truly a in men's gospel music
Rev. Claude Jeter sang with the Swan Silvertones. He was 1 tenor like Lil Shot. I think he passed away back in the 2000s, don't remember the exact date. He was a fantastic 1 tenor like lil shot. UA-cam the Swan Silvertones singers
..........they both had high tenor voices, but they'er styles were night and day...............The Mighty Clouds, The Keynotes, the Gospelaires ,etc., all had very high tenors but unique in each application
Hey Hewstone why don't you have the other two song from the end of the violniares album, they were I've come to far to turnaround, and you've been. good to me.
How is it possible for someone to use another person's username if they don't have the password (known only by the original user)? UA-cam would state that the username is already taken, wouldn't they?
@ziklagtozion This is MY favorite violinaires song also, but i would be still laughing to this day if i would've heard your Mother tell you that, (they sound like cats) lol. I Still laugh NOW thinking about that.
Hey Hewstone, you know I admire your poststings, but I just had2 comment 2those who think they are hearing Danny, when it's LittleShots voice on these old recordngs. They, must have never seen or heard LittleShots performance before, so I just want to let them know, there is no comparison, between LittleShot and Danny, none. Danny is ok and maybe good n some cases, but he isn't and never have been n the same league of LittleShot. Of curse that is my hubble opinon. I'm not trying 2 b a jerk ok
I’m 32 years old. I grew up in Robert, Danny, Boe Boe on guitar and Little shot
My favorite gospel group. My dad used to take me to see them ‘live’ every year when I was in grade & Jr high school and the sound was spectacular! Very moving. He use to play this album every day. Nice memory.

Perhaps the #1 always ...
Momz played and sang these old gospel songs
One of the best gospel songs ever

My thoughts exactly; no one could sing like Shot
I'd say the best anytime. The only one who could match him would be Rev. Claude Jeter ....
@@lynnwalker9015 Rev. Claude Jeter was the original falsetto singer the other came after imatating him, but in the words of Rev. Jeter there were others that came after him that could sing higher than himself...
This was when Blair had those young lungs he was something else then. The boy knew how to work a church house. To he I is just blessed.
Good lord what a song

PLEASE JESUS!!!!!
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🎼🎼🎼🎼....Fantastic
Shot was definitely special but man, I would love to here the original falsetto "to me" Claude Jeter perform this with the Violinaires.
Jeters voice wouldn't fit with the violinaires......his tonality was totally different.
I believe Claude Jeter could have fit his range isn't as high but a professional like the Reverend Claude could have fit.
Kristy Bennett-This entire album in pretty good shape cost $150, You can buy it at record convention. They travel the country. Check the internet. Good Karma!
Halllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllelujahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have heard alot about Claude Jeter. Who was this guy. Please tell me about him.

Correction: Annie Kirkpatrick led this song with Simfield.

But you are right; Shot could sing anything and sound fantastic. His voice was so amazing that no one can match him.
Does anybody know the year and place this concert was recorded?
September 1968 Chicago,Illinois.
