The lack of a TPMS doesn't bother me because there are aftermarket options (TST, TireMinder, etc) that are out there. However, the lack of Adaptive Cruise control bothers. Adaptive Cruise control is available in other manufacturers such as Showhauler and Renegade.
Great video and the 1st I have seen showing this RV. I normally am not a fan of Super C's because of a bad back. Getting from the front seat to the back usually requires bending and doing the same thing in a Class A is so much better. Also the above cab area is usually a wasted space. Not sure if Newmar feels this type of RV is a growing segment? In my opinion they should invest in a few smaller models. Tiffin figured this out and now a market leader. I would think the Super C market is considerably smaller than the under 32 foot RV market which is where the demand is these days.
You have comments and that's good.the other video I watched on the Jayco Seneca super c would not allow comments. So there is a difference when you buy a Newmar.
Any data yet on how these vehicles in general hold-up in cold climates? The storage areas with large video monitors on the underside might be vulnerable to creeping of road salt and brine? I know owners prefer to head south.
Wow...I'm actually wondering why anyone would consider a Class A when these could tow our toys so easily. Absolutely love this rig and definitely a style I would consider when I end up buying an RV
Great tour, guys; looks like Newmar has done it, again. Can't wait for you to do a "drive-away tour" to give us your impression of its handling on highways and surface streets (dat's a "hint"). Again, thanks for the tour. Y'all Be Safe!
We think that PVC is new (we've just started hearing about it) and we don't know about anyone's experiences with it. We had a rubber roof on our Bounder (EPDM) and had no problem with it. That said, our fiberglass roof has been indestructible for 14 years now!
Oh man, I had my mind set on the Verona LE LRB and now you've made me rethink my decision. Hmm... hope there's an RV show in NC where I can see this for myself.
I can't find the "Newmar Super Star Super C RV" anywhere on the Newmar website. Even though it's most likely way out of my price range, I would still like to see the floor plan options for this RV.
Looks really nice, I need to see one before making any decisions... but I wonder how much heat will be transferred indoors from the skylight. I am not a fan of large windows that allows heat or cold inside.
Ok about this shower miser thing. Does it really send the water back to your fresh tank or back to your water heater. Most people don't really clean or sanitize their water heater and I've always heard drinking water out of your water heater is not the best. As I posted in the other thread I've seen these in homes but its a loop system that puts the cold water in the line back into the heater tank.
The shower miser circulates water back to the fresh water tank? So does that mean if you are boon docking and trying to save water you're putting hot water into your fresh water tank?
While it does circulate water back to the fresh tank, you only run it until the water is warm at the shower, which a blue light comes on to indicate. Then you flip the valve back to the normal operating position, and begin showering with hot water right there at the shower head. The only water that goes back into the fresh tank is the “pre-hot“ water that you ran up. It saves because water that went back to the fresh tank can now be used normally, instead of being wasted.
I've seen this feature in homes where water is relatively expensive, Boston(?), and the water heater is far away. But you are basically putting the cold water in the pipes from your water heater to your shower back into your tank. Water that would normally go down the drain.
Great review of a great looking rig-except those window treatments lol. The cabinets and counters are actually not too old fashioned looking compared to many I've seen. But those windows...Anyway, I was wondering if you'd have any concerns about the integrity of the membrane that separates the cab from the rest of the house? It's great to have an air ride cab, but I wonder if that membrane is going to be a potential point of failure after going down the road for a few years. What do you think?
Hi Guy! I've seen tractor-trailers with similar connections between the cab and the living quarters which were very robust. The type we saw on the Super Star were similar, and I don't think they will necessarily be a point of failure.
Loved the walk-through. Looks nice. Along with the Res Fridge option I would gather you could also get the induction cook top as well? I your visit to the head, did the shower have a fold-down teak seat same as you saw in the New Aire?
I am surprised Newmar never got into the Super C market a long time ago however they did a great job with this design. I wonder why they selected an M2 chassis for such a big machine though. I think it would have been a better balance to go with the Cascadia chassis with a tag axle just like the comparable Class A machines.
@@Dadcam_Can Maybe. I would think the average Newmar buyer is a couple 60+ years old looking for a luxurious RV. I just do not see the Super C appealing to women who are are 50% of the people in that group. Maybe a retired trucker, but not your average retired couple who can drop 500k on a RV. Maybe it will be a hit. I am no expert. Just my 2 cents from what I have seen at RV shows and parks.
As my mother would say: "That's why they make vanilla & chocolate!" Even though we're not likely to buy a Super C ourselves, we understand that there are many people who like them. We're not interested in a 5th wheel either, but we think it's great that they're out there for those who want them. 😊
Hi Kevin. The stove was never uncovered during our entire time on the rig, so we’re not sure what you mean. But looking at the front of it again, it appears virtually the same as our Atwood stove top that has worked flawlessly for us on our Mountain Aire for the past 14 years.
@@RVgeeks , thanks for your quick reply. Just looking at that front of it, it's either an Atwood or a suburban model base model but for this price range it needs either a top of the line furrion unit or an induction cooktop unit like their competitors have. We'll just have to wait and see what they put in it but again at this price range I was extremely surprised to see that base unit stove top.
Not easy to find answers about the SuperStar. Does it come with radiant heat floors? It's not an option in the "build your own" Newmar website and just not enough details out there.
We hear you, @Pure Texas Lone Star... info has been a bit slow to trickle out. As far as we know (and as far as we can tell from Newmar's website), the Super Star does NOT offer radiant heated floors. It's possible that it's an unlisted option (Newmar has a bunch of those and will do customs... but sometimes limits features to certain models). It IS listed as a standard feature of the Supreme Aire, though.
@@RVgeeks The Supreme Aire and the SuperStar are as far apart as a New Aire and the BayStar. The Supreme Aire is too big and too pricey for us non millionaire types. Newmar really needs to examine something in between the two models. Give me the options and charge me accordingly but at least give me the option. The New Aire held the solid number one spot on my list before the SuperStar was introduced. I would much prefer the easier driving of the Super C and engine maintenance options to the Class A but I have to have a few luxuries the SuperStar just doesn't offer. If they don't upgrade the SuperStar they will have to introduce more reasonable (shorter) floor plans for the Supreme Aire.
Thanks Daniel. We don’t see the Freightliner M2-106 chassis listed as coming with air bags, but we honestly can’t say for sure. We’re waiting for specs to hit the Newmar website, and we’re hoping details about safety are listed.
Hello, love your videos. Do you have one on driving your RV thur toll booths? I have to go thur the Kansas Turnpike Tuesday. Have a 40' class A with toad, to winnebago factory. I'am scared about entering the toll booths, and getting in the correct lane.
Hi Greg! We don't have a video about toll booths specifically, but I can give you some quick tips that should help. First, when it comes to spotting the correct lane, go into it expecting the far right lane to be the most likely one for large vehicles. That's not always the case, but if you start out expecting it, you'll be less likely to have to move over at the last second.... and if you do, it will be moving left, which is the side of your RV with better visibility, because you sit on the left, closer to the mirrors and window on that side. Another tip for spotting the correct lane is to slow down and look as far ahead ad possible, giving yourself the most amount of time to identify the best / most appropriate lane. And if you have a passenger with you, have them scan ahead with you, since they might spot the "large vehicle" lane before you do. When it comes to fitting through narrow lanes, enter as slowly as possible and hug the left side of the lane. Again, since you're sitting on the left side, you can bring your left mirror just inches from the side of the toll booth, and the right side will take care of itself (you know it's wide enough for your vehicle to fit, so staying very close to the left side will keep the right side from hitting. Take your time, crawling into the booth (even stopping if needed as you enter), and you'll be fine! The mirrors are your widest part, so just make sure they clear, and you're golden! Good luck, and please let us know how you make out. 😊
You might try bringing up Google Maps for the area, then find the stick man figure in the bottom right corner of the window. Drag it to the highway a little in front of the toll booth area and it will give you a street view of what the approach looks like and you should be able to see the signs. I have not done that specifically for toll booths but do it quite frequently to get an idea of what a spot looks like ahead of time..
This is gorgeous! Sure it has a pretty price tag too but very nice. Would be perfect for FT if u don't need to be stealthy. No talk of solar or maybe I missed it?
We're not aware of solar being available directly from Newmar, but the Ventana has it as an option, so maybe the Super Star will, too. Final specs weren't available yet. But even if they don't offer it, there are tons of options out there to choose from!
So, does it have an over the cab bed or not? It would be nice to watch the stars from that huge view screen. Although I'd like to get a Class B or C, that one is way out of my price range. Nice to dream, though. Jon in rural BC, Canada
Hi... I know you’re more familiar with Class A RVs... But was wondering: between this and the Dynamax (arguably the highest rated Super C’s in terms of quality), which would you recommend?
We've never seen a Dynamax to be qualified to speak from personal experience, but we do know that they are very highly rated. Of course Newmar products are as well, and our personal experience with them has been stellar for the past 14 years.
Sorry Buddy, but we haven't seen the detailed specs yet (the rig we toured is a prototype). We'll all eagerly awaiting updates to the Newmar website with all the deets!
Its not terribly complicated. Class A is one big box like a bus, c is a truck or van cut away chassis so it has a cab up front with a box behind it with the living space, b is a regular van body that has had the inside filled with rv stuff. The b+ is basically a small class c on a cut away van chassis and super c denotes a class c built on a diesel truck chassis rather then the more typical gas engined platforms.
Sorry we originally replied thinking that your comment was on the video we posted just this morning about a different RV! We have never driven the Superstar, so we can’t comment on the volume level in the cab.
Hey guys last time I saw you was going over the Panama Canal with our lovely friends ( gone with the Wynn’s) we’re watching you on the tv with this video. Had to come to the phone to comment. We are selling everything and going full time. We like the super c Newmar. The only thing is it’s 37 ft. We boondock a lot . We really want one, but we probably buy a used low wear Newmar. I been checking Tiffin and Newmar the only two rigs I will consider. No one comes close to Newmar on insulation. It’s nice to meet you Life with Ken and Jane. Man that super c is so cool. We will subscribe to your channel we give full views. Wish everyone did that lol. Take care life with Ken and Jane 🤠👍
Hi Ken & Jane! We were just texting with Nikki & Jason yesterday! We miss them. Nothing against Tiffin, but we're serious Newmar fans. The brand is hands down our #1 choice if we were to replace our rig today.
I agree. I think Tiffin has changed and I am gun shy. We bought a new Jayco c class to just have fun in. Not fun! It caught on fire 2 nd day. Bad wiring on generator. Then the slide totally broke. ( seriously) they did not put rollers on it. Everything on the wall fell off. The handles on the drawers came off. This is the first month. Jayco said to bad we were not closer to them , they would fix it. I know they thought I exaggerated the problems till they saw it, I asked for what I paid for a new rv. They said no. I ended up coming back to AZ. 2 1/2 months later they had fixed it. They would not stand up to their guarantee. Thor had bought them. ( no wonder) any way. I am scared as hell to buy another POS. I think your totally on spot with Newmar. We did videos on both Tiffin and Newmar. Tiffin is good, but that little voice in my head says Newmar. So looking for a 34 ft diesel. Thought of a gas. Nope it needs to be diesel. We are planning on REALLY living in it for 10 years. Sorry this is to long...., thank you for you response. One more thing..... did you have a nervous breakdown trying to get rid of stuff. Lol 😂 God dang this is such a decision. I respect your channel. Your good.
How horrible what you went through! Sorry to hear. We're with you on Newmar. It's just our opinion (but based on more than just our own personal experience)... but we wouldn't want anything else right now. If you're planning to full-time in the same rig for 10 years (we're now happily 14 years in our '05 Mountain Aire), we'd suggest looking at the New Aire (if it's in your price range). The length is exactly what you're looking for. If that's more than you were looking to spend, there are other models at the same length down the model line-up - the Ventana.
What are the decision criteria of going with this type of Super C over an equivalent Class A diesel pusher? I am trying to figure out the market for it and what advantages it offers over a class A. Someone posted it would be safer in a head on collision so that may be one advantage. It appears this rig does carry a premium price addition at $350K base over equivalent A models. Nice review!
Fire that thing up I want to see it blast down the road. What is the fuel mileage, towing cap, engine/trans make, type of hitch, water cap, fuel cap, jen-pack/watts cap, make, plug in cable length, water filter? Sleeps how many? Self leveling? TV dish? Just a few...……..
Can't beat Newmar's fit and finish. Nice presentation guys!
I like the step cover. It prevents anyone from falling down the step out the RV. Every RV should have one.
Mine does. It's a Newmar KA
@tkymike Automatic or manually, as long as it prevents people from falling down the steps into the abyss (laughs).

That is innovation at its best. The way the cab is integrated with the coach is a game changer for a super C.
WOW! those dining chairs are right out of the 50's.
35fh. I'm impressed with the engineering that Newmar did on the Super Star.
I really like the super c because of safety. The engine is ahead of the driver. No engine to catch on fire in the back of the RV.
Come on. How common of a problem is this. If your engine catches fire, you sure don't do much maintenance.
I guess it’s better to have the engine catch fire in front...

No wonder Americans look at the European models or Australian Kedron trailers and always say they wish American manufacturers didn't scrimp .
How much more do you want it to cost? And not using the absolute top of the line "everything" doesn't necessarily mean shortcuts were taken.

We're hoping they'll continue to evolve the rig as they ramp up production.
I would think the Super C market is considerably smaller than the under 32 foot RV market which is where the demand is these days.
sadly i agree with you but give them credit for building it and with a air ride cab 2 boot!
Thanks 🙏🏼 for awesome in-depth review of Newmar new entry.
I'd like to get your driving impressions of this class c compared to your A.
We'd like to find out the difference too. We're hoping that Newmar gives us that opportunity when they production units hit the road. 😉
Great vid...as always!! Hope they offer a bed option vs the fancy skylight over the cab. Thx!
How does the flush flooring of the floor with the cab and motor home effect safety if your are involved in a head on collision?
Another informative video, thank you guys! 👍🏻
Wow...I'm actually wondering why anyone would consider a Class A when these could tow our toys so easily.
Absolutely love this rig and definitely a style I would consider when I end up buying an RV
Great job, guys... as always.
Great tour, guys; looks like Newmar has done it, again. Can't wait for you to do a "drive-away tour" to give us your impression of its handling on highways and surface streets (dat's a "hint"). Again, thanks for the tour. Y'all Be Safe!
We're forwarding your suggestion right off the Newmar, Raymond! 😉
thanks for sharing. whats your thoughts on pvc and rubber roofs. thanks
Sorry about that, Michael! But having options is always good, right? 😉
I can't find the "Newmar Super Star Super C RV" anywhere on the Newmar website.
Even though it's most likely way out of my price range, I would still like to see the floor plan options for this RV.
Sorry Robert! We were hoping the specs would be up on the website already. Keep checking back (we will be)! 😊
Looks really nice, I need to see one before making any decisions... but I wonder how much heat will be transferred indoors from the skylight. I am not a fan of large windows that allows heat or cold inside.
Another great video! Thanks for all the info.
Excellent presentation and thanks for knowing your products
Thanks! 😊
Ok about this shower miser thing. Does it really send the water back to your fresh tank or back to your water heater.
Most people don't really clean or sanitize their water heater and I've always heard drinking water out of your water heater is not the best.
As I posted in the other thread I've seen these in homes but its a loop system that puts the cold water in the line back into the heater tank.
beautiful and very impressive. Thanks for sharing
Had never heard of the shower miser. Good to know and good explanation.
@@RVgeeks Great to hear that! Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts :)
Why is this not based on larger chassis and engine? 5oo -600 horse power range.
yes a Volvo 605hp like a Provost
I have been watching the Newmar website. It is not on there yet.
We're waiting too, Sam! Hopefully it will be up soon.
@@RVgeeks Thanks, Gents. Good stuff.
Loved the walk-through. Looks nice. Along with the Res Fridge option I would gather you could also get the induction cook top as well? I your visit to the head, did the shower have a fold-down teak seat same as you saw in the New Aire?
We’re Not sure of the complete options list yet. We’re all waiting eagerly for details to appear on numerous website.
I am surprised Newmar never got into the Super C market a long time ago however they did a great job with this design. I wonder why they selected an M2 chassis for such a big machine though. I think it would have been a better balance to go with the Cascadia chassis with a tag axle just like the comparable Class A machines.
How many Super C's do you see at a RV park? I usually see maybe 1. I think this is not the best move for Newmar.
@@rebellucy5610 that may be the case in your area but I see a lot more Super C's on the road in these parts.
Good video! I wonder why the ultra cheap garbage stove top on this rig? That alone would give me pause on this rig. Hopefully that is rectify quickly.
Thanks for the video
Thanks for the video. It answered many questions. Still have another: air bags? driver/passenger safety features?
Thanks Daniel. We don’t see the Freightliner M2-106 chassis listed as coming with air bags, but we honestly can’t say for sure. We’re waiting for specs to hit the Newmar website, and we’re hoping details about safety are listed.
Does the t.v. rock when the slides are out when walking from one side to the other side
We didn't notice any movement at all, but honestly, we weren't specifically looking for it.
Is the escape door available in the bathroom?
There wasn't one in the one we toured, but it was a prototype, so it could come on production models. We're waiting to see specs hit Newmar's website!
VERY nice! Thanks, guys!
Did NEWMAR add Comfort Drive to their Super C models?
Just looked at their website and don't see anything about it, unless we missed it.
Great job reviewing. Top notch.👍🏻
Very beautiful crv you can feel at home because its customized and the interior design is so amazing good to travel with this car
ok so where is the link to the Newman RVGEEKS give away for a new RV? I don't see it posted yet.
Nice! 😂
@@RVgeeks THANK-YOU/ it helps to have someone to talk to. Be safe, looking forward to your next video
I should have thought of that. Great tip, Bruce!! 👍
Yep, all of this internet stuff sure has changed RV'ing for the better in many ways!
Now I am interested! Checked Newmar’s site and NO info yet!
We're waiting too! We were hoping it would be up.
Can’t imagine the cab over skylite being all that popular. After all, it’s got to be hard to clean all of those speed bugs guts off.
The skylight is tinted so the bugs will be wearing masks ; )
Hi Jon! No bed up there. Just that cool skylight, and the cabinetry.
RVgeeks thank you for the kind response gentlemen... and god bless you..
What is the alternator output amps in that rig?
Sorry Buddy, but we haven't seen the detailed specs yet (the rig we toured is a prototype). We'll all eagerly awaiting updates to the Newmar website with all the deets!
Not into RVs (yet?), can anyone point me to a starter guide explaining the differences between classes?
Its not terribly complicated. Class A is one big box like a bus, c is a truck or van cut away chassis so it has a cab up front with a box behind it with the living space, b is a regular van body that has had the inside filled with rv stuff. The b+ is basically a small class c on a cut away van chassis and super c denotes a class c built on a diesel truck chassis rather then the more typical gas engined platforms.
Thanks for the explanation!
Are these standard with air brakes?
Yes. You can see more detail on Newmar's site: www.newmarcorp.com/super-c-motor-coaches/superstar/
When driving the rig is it loud in the cab area?
Lol 😂
God dang this is such a decision.
Nothing drives like a diesel pusher for comfort and quietness.
Safer in a head-on, ease of maintenance, and towing capacity are just three. Sometimes it just comes down to a matter of taste.
@@RVgeeks Agree and let's not overlook the added doors, 3 versus 1 (not counting the bathroom escape ladder).
Thanks for the replies.
The towing capacity is a surprise. I have seen some class A's going down the interstate with some large trailers.
Remember when FRED Grandstars were dropped? Maybe the Economy in 2007-2009 just sucked. Maybe it was not knowing how to market the product.
It seems that Newmar is the way to go, as long as you can afford one.
It is a great brand.
How much does it cost?
gorgeous unit. thanks for sharing.
Nice floor plan!
Thank for the review
Really nice Super Star they did a very good job for a first for them. Wonder how much it cost
Base price on the 40' model we toured was listed as $350k.
Did it have a stove top or an induction plate?
Regular propane stovetop.
No overhead bunk?
Not on the one we were on. If you check on newmarcorp.com there might be other floorplans.
@@RVgeeks Yes Newmar sucks with the bunk option... I would love to buy one if they had that. Only on baystar. none of the high end have it
