Beautiful I believe I priced those ratchets out at around $450 USD give or take $50... I'll have to make a Japanese tool haul video. I ordered a ratchet I havent seen anyone have or make reviews on and I was quite surprised by that but not many people wanna wait 2-4 weeks for a new tool. Everything I ordered was something that intrigued me that you don't see from other manufactures or country's tool fore
Thats a good price! I thought they were $100+ ebay has them marked up, well the sellers do. I was referring to the wooden handle ones tho but if you can find a better supplier then I did I would appreciate some links to your favorite sites if you don't mind or make a video describing how you search and research specific tools or tool brands and purchasing them.
Oh, I thought you were talking about the 'standard' Nepros ratchet. Over the course of 20+ years, they've had several limited edition 3/8 drive ratchets, some of which are completely sold out. The only wooden handle ratchets they currently offer comes with a lacquered finish (urushi), and they command that high price, as you mentioned. The ones that are $450 USD is the more affordable version from their urushi series. The urushi ratchets shown in this link: www.nepros.net/?cat=9 are many times that price. The most elaborate urushi work will drive the ratchet price north of $5k USD! Keep in mind that these a handmade by skilled artisans living in Kyoto, the historical/cultural capital of Japan. These ratchets are bespoke, one-of-a-kind works of art. ktcos.jp/urushi/lineup.html#NBR390JGE
Those are' works of art, Really amazing it would be cool if theres a video of the process used in making them, another thing is I wonder who their main clientele is when it comes to these ratchets. I can see myself justifying one to myself especially the ones in that 250,000 price mark if I continue to have the interest that I do in tools. Another thing is Im willing to bet that those are a item that will gain in value if they become sold out like they do. Do you have anything going on in instagram? I've never had the desire to really go to Japan (lots of people) but you have changed that lol.
I know there's one Japanese guy who's a die-hard Nepros fan and has practically everything Nepros offers. I'd guess he probably has one in his collection. You could be right that they might gain in value 50 years from now. If only I could see the future..... I hope you do make it out to Japan one day!
True that not a lot is mentioned on the Nepros pliers. I can say that their diagonal cutters are out of this world...super sharp! Their 45 degree bent nose pliers have been very useful throughout the years
ChrisCas - Tool Aficionado When I was younger my dad advised me if ever wanted to buy tools. To buy USA, German or Japanese tools...long story short I started appreciating working on cars and tools. To a point that it became a career at a time, but I didn't want to get rapped by the tool trucks...I needed a well rounded stater tool kit. I began my research and I ended up where all like minded men end up at some point...I kinda discovered Nepros on Garage Journal lol
@@gtolex86 We're both quite similar. Love tools, working on cars, made it into a career, don't want to get wrapped up in tool truck credit, and discovering GJ!
I’m trying to buy 3/8 and 1/2 nepros ratchets. Cannot find except on their website which isn’t working for me. If you know other sites besides frankstools.com plz let me know!
Do you use these as your go to's at work? If so how do they hold up? Or do you have these as a luxury for home. Your vids are great, definitely going to buy some nepros and kakone brand tools. Last question, do you know any websites to purchase? Ive been to nepros website and hear about going on amazon.com/jk and using google translate.
Hi, Marco. Most of the tools I show in my videos are used at work, and they hold up to repetitive use without issue. If you're looking to purchase Nepros tools, my go-to would be: www.nepros.net/ You are shopping directly with KTC in Kyoto, Japan, so it's safe, fast, and comes with professional service. For Ko-ken tools, I'd consider global.rakuten.com/en/search/?k=Ko-Ken&sid=i-tools&l-id=gs_product_search

Yes, first choice would be nepros.net Through that site you are shopping directly from KTC (Kyoto Tool Company).
I don't know much about Japanese tools. I think I'm going down the rabbit hole.
😁 I cordially welcome you down the path.
Use ratchet on ezout not power drill
