    This was explained in much simpler terms, thanks for that. One more advantage of Named/External credentials is that api credentials like apikey should not be present in code directly to avoid cyber threats/data hacks against the client-server connections happening during callouts.

    But what would it be like to configure a credential that needs to consume a webservice to generate the token that goes into authorization?
