    Thank you! Your explanation at the end about why an existing wired doorbell now no longer works (when ours had worked perfectly for 35 years PRIOR to the moment we installed the Ring Doorbell 2nd Generation) was most helpful. We just could NOT figure it out until we saw your video. (Note: We had a Ring Video Doorbell 2, which allowed the existing doorbell to work, but the camera lens got cloudy from years of weather exposure & needed replacing). THANK YOU for your VERY helpful video.

    I like the extra notes at the end.. I would suggest you tease the helpful hints at the beginning of the video. It was worth the wait for extra notes at the end.. Thank you again..

    We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

    For the chime issue, since ring is part of Amazon, it probably can integrate with Alexa and send you alerts or tones over echo,dot, echo show, fire sticks, fire tv’s if you have those in the household.

    Thanks wish I knew about the mechanical chime before hand, i wonder even if you purchase the ring chime will it work if the internet connection in the house goes down ?

      From reading online, it sounds like the chime will not work if you lose internet, even if your local wifi network is still up. Seems like an oversight on Ring’s part.

    2.4 has better range 5 for speed. I only just learned this when my modem suddenly became “incompatible”

    I’ve installed so many doorbells in the past. This is the first one that I paid $50 for and it doesn’t work.
    These companies are more interested in selling all sorts of features that no one needs… it’s a doorbell - when you press the button the chime is supposed to ring, so you can answer the door.
    Who dreams up this bs? Sooo mad!

    I was so frustrated!!!! I replaced an old “smart” doorbell that actually makes the mechanical chime sound (but the app sucks) with this ring crap! !! 🤬🤬🤬

    e's wrong, if you say it up and it says hardwired. Go into your app. Go to device settings, then In home come settings, then advanced settings and change the option to mechanical Bell

      He's wrong, if you say it up and it says hardwired. Go into your app. Go to device settings, then In home come settings, then advanced settings and change the option to mechanical Bell. Give it a second then press the doorbell, the app makes it seem like it tests for you but you have to hit the button to test it.

      @@salsavillo9146 Is this true with Ring WIRED model of doorbell, since on their website they say it is not compatible with existing doorbell chimes unlike PRO and PRO 2 models.

    I removed it, and returned it because it did not operate the existing chime. I was not going to give them more money to fix something that they purposely know about, but failed to disclose.

    • @AlwaysBroken
      @AlwaysBroken  Рік тому

      Yeah, it seems like it would have been so easy for them to make it activate the existing chime. I really don't get why they chose to go this route.

      @@AlwaysBrokenprobably because they can make money out people buying a chime and paying to save footage😮
