In “The New Swiss Family Robinson” (1998), father Jack Robinson (James Keach) takes his family on a sea cruise from Hong Kong to Sydney. Near Borneo, the family has to fight pirates and they ultimately find themselves stranded on an island, full of little adventures… Based on the Story “The Swiss Family Robinson” by Johann David Wyss and put on screen before by Disney in 1960, this material seems perfect for a lighthearted adventure for old and young. Accompanying the adventures of the Robinson’s is John Scott’s marvelous and similarly warmhearted score, which surely went under the radar of so many, thus we take the chance to enjoy it now!
@@creech54 Corrected. Thank you, Michael! I was writing down the "74" and thought "odd, it seemed older to me" but the thought was washed away a moment later by something... Thanks again! :-)
What A Marvelous Score. A Sweeping Luscious Listening Experience. Love Scott's Music. One Of My Favorites Is King Kong Lives. Far Superior To The Film It's Attached To. John Scott is absolutely one of the finest film composers we have.
Hi, Fred!! Adventure films are a great chance for composers to be brimming with inspiration or plodding along in noisy obviousness ( like musicians today ). John Scott ( the " owner " of the strident sax in " Goldfinger ", 1964 ) demonstrates in * The New Swiss Family Robinson " ( his 51st for film ) all the characteristics of excellent British composers: solemnity, romance, appreciation for the construction of striking melodies and classic orchestrations. Great work, worthy of other famous and respectable names of the past, as Vaughan Williams! Thanks again, Fred, and nice weekend!!!
Grazie Fred.🏝👍🏻 Bravo John Scott.

The Disney movie was, like, 1960, but there was a mid 70's TV series. Helen Hunt played one of the children.

Woah, blast from the unconscious mind. I completely forgot this film existed.
Really nicely-edited suite. Maybe now I won't have to get around to uploading the 45 minute one I had cued up to load onto YT - 'eventually'!
This film is produced by Disney and John Scott is one of the Greatest composers in 1998
Thanks, dear!
