It's worth remembering that in 2013 Gatland wasn't afraid to pick 10+ Wales players in a 15. I think there are certain positions it's very hard to see Farrell going away from Irish players. 9 is one, 15 is another. I think at least one of the centres will probably be Irish and at least 4 of the pack (probably 5 or 6) will be Irish.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ireland provide the largest number of players however Andy Farrell also knows a lot of England playets . He will be taking advice from the other coaches on the tour . I wouldn't be surprised to see more Scottish players touring with a smattering of Welsh.
Gatland also had no problem bringing in talentless welsh players who happened to be on holidays nearby and then didn't even give them a run. I wish Gatland and the entire welsh side was selected again to finish the job of killing the lions that he started
@@adhamh3666 aki was great then but Tui has gone to a few more levels since then whilst Aki is quite a bit older. Tui is a much better distributor and kicker and his carrying and defence are awesome too. I think they will both go on the tour but Tui will start

No question Felix Jones will be the defence coach. He doesn't have a job at the moment and will likely be appointed into the Ireland setup after the Lions.

I think Andy Farrell sticks to picking the Irish players in key positions like Props, Locks, scrum half, No10, centres and fullback So at props it’ll be Porter and Furlong The locks, he knows Itoje and go with Berne The Irish back row is by far the best with Doris and vdF and then you sprinkle some of the top class back rows from other countries At 9 it’ll be Gibson-Park and at 10 it’ll be Farrell who will also run the backline defense system cos he also knows it working with his dad at Saracens and England The centres will be Aki, Henshaw and Ringrose And fullback will be Keenan The good players from the other 3 will be good enough and skillful enough to play in the tour games and prove themselves
I think they're a set of all stars who play as a unit. Question is how many Irish players will Andy pick for the tour? I'm sure he'll want to include a few English, Welsh and Scots in the team but will he be diplomatic or is he going for a win by picking the best players.
That’s kind of a stupid question. Is he gone for a win by picking the best players? Why else would you pick them? It’s because you’re the best players and you want to win he’s not picking people for the experience of the tour. He’s picking people who we think can win I think it’s fair to say the irish team have performed consistently over the last couple of years, particularly in Europe so I wouldn’t be surprised if there was more Irish players on the team
thatll be the attempted narrative to try to add drama for sure because it might not be very dramatic outside of this headline. Unless somehow the Aussies somehow get good at rugby.
Lions biggest test, before the 1st test they will play against weakened sides (the Wallabies players will be in camp prepping) so the Lions will not get tested. Wallabies best change to surprise the Lions in that series.
The lions would be doing a great service to the game (especially down under, where it’s badly needed!), by playing adventurous exciting rugby, rather than looking to dominate Aus.
Bookies have 10 irish 4 english and DVDeM, I can't see Farrell picking 10 ireland players and he won't be installing the 'irish' system into the team because he won't have to, enough talent to win against Australia, good shout about Felix Jones though.
I think Ireland deserve 10 or more to be picked.we still have seen nothing from England its time now to forget about the moral victories they are losses..
No team has ever sustained success at the top of professional sport without top class players. Ireland are well coached with a good understanding of what they want to do but it doesn't work against the best without Dan Sheehan Furlong Bernie Doris Aki Ringrose, etc. Like Connacht, play a near identical game to Ireland and they can't get to the level Ireland are at simply because there is no Furlong Doris Van der flyer Keenan in the team.
