    Other than the houses, the village will also include medical and psychological care areas, common area with laundry facilities, kitchen, library, food pantry, classroom; and a community garden.
    The non-profit raised $3 million for the project in donations and pledges.
    It is estimated that once fully operational, more than $1.6 million a year in tax-payers’ money will be saved for services such as shelters, medical care and police custody.

    So I'm guessing the living room area will have to function as the bedroom too. This is a good idea though for homeless people.

    It is a wonderful project, most of the homeless will appreciate a roof over their head regardless of the size. Beats living outside .♥️

    I can't wait until they finish. I live in Brunswick and the homeless can really use it. It's more tiny homes further south.

    Great concept. Only thing is I noticed that the gentleman filming the video did a similar thing Ahmaud Arbery did by going into a house under construction. Glad the video ended nicely.

      One major difference likely led to a better outcome here. Well, possibly going during the daytime with construction workers about also made ‘snap judgments’ less likely.

    You didn't mention where anyone would sleep in one of these . . . Also, I think I would be careful about walking into any unfinished buildings in Brunswick Georgia. Seems to me there was a recent Brunswick incident and murder trial there about someone who was hunted down and killed just for looking into a home under construction.

    This is perfect for homeless people proven to be sober and receiving mental health care if needed. Could also be a motivation for many people with addictions and untreated mental illness to get well. That "light" or "tiny home community" at the end of the tunnel is what many people need to get better

    Many that aren't homeless but not cash rich would love these also. It is not easy to get approval for tiny homes, but the city evidently said ok.

    Great Ideal. But without monthly inspections to maintain upkeep, it will eventually become a low income slum area. Monthly Inspections of every unit should be mandatory.

    • @markeyosef1579
      @markeyosef1579 Рік тому +2

      I'd say inspect the upkeep of outside yard every month. Going inside everybody's home once a month will be invading people's privacy. Once a year like what the state does for apartments will be good enough.

    The city of Brunswick in Georgia has joined more cities across the United States that are opting to accommodate their homeless population in tiny houses.
    A tiny home village that will house 60 houses is under construction, with an early 2022 anticipated partial opening date.
    The project is being built by Hand in Hand of Glynn, an organization seeking to end homelessness in the city. Linda Heagy, treasurer for the charity revealed that the first 20 homes will be ready to be occupied in January 2022. The rest of the houses should be completed in subsequent months.

    They are nice but I don't think it's meant to be permanent for the residents. It's kind of like mini college dorms, studios; where college students are just passing through to earn their degrees but need somewhere to stay until they graduate. I'm sure there will be programs to help the homeless get their GED, job training, skilled training, medical, etc to help them get on their feet and earn a decent living for themselves. So, more homeless people can have access to housing and go through the same process. It's not meant to be too comfortable for a reason.

      Senior citizens or disabled are NOT going to go through ‘job training’. They simply need a safe place with a roof over their heads where police (and so-called ‘citizens’ behaving criminally) cannot routinely harass them and steal and dispose of their meager belongings simply because they have nowhere to live and are just trying to survive in a tent until help is available.
