  • In Matthew 25, we read about the parable of the talents. What is Jesus getting at with the parable of the talents? What is a talent? And is this an ordinary type of master that expects his servants to make investments with his money he leaves behind or is the master representative of something greater?
Check out this video with Dr. Brant Pitre to learn more about this parable of the talents.

those who TRUST Lord...can not be crippled by the fear of God :) that is another kind of fear of mistrust this parable is about. This guy feared/misstrusted God (saw God as taking one...who does nothing).... trusted in himself...and did nothing...those are people who do no sin but no good as well.....the LAZY souls :) Jesus wants all of us to be MANAGERS and CEOs...to have courage and trust in Him......and people climb the corporate ladder to become managers...and we are born managers :). the point is if you can not manage this world's wealth..how can you manage eternal wealth??

Thank you Dr. Brant Pitre for
this precise meditation on this passage of the Gospel. It really helped me understand and put in perspective my relationship with my own late father which I remember and miss very much, also my relationship with my own children as a father so they can in some way understand the correct way how God loves us as our Heavenly Father. Now I see my great responsibility in the way they will approach God as their Heavenly Father and also as a Loving Father in all the circumstances of their lives. Thank you. God blessed you .!

Surely, entering into the joy of the master also means having something in common with the thing that gives the master joy: the master derives joy from creativity - the profitable servant has shown creativity like that of the master. The master, by endowing his servants with talents is doing it with the aim that they will be creative.

It’s like God’s inviting three servants go out fishing for Him, go out catching lost souls. Three servants, each having a different level of spiritual maturity, different number of gifts. The first two have been given much, much more fish or lost souls they’re to catch. The third servant, given a gift, hides it, doesn’t even want to catch one fish, doesn’t want to save one lost soul!
How can he be called a disciple if he doesn’t go out fishing?
    Luke 12:48

it seems to me a beautiful parable, indeed the talents are the virtue of charity
(Matthew 1:23) Behold, the virgin conceive and bear a son,
and they will call his name Emmanuel,
which means, "God is with us."
(Matthew 25:44) Then they also will answer, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not take care of you?’ Then he will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.

Very good; however, I never saw this parable being about money. I know a talent is money, but I always took the reference to a talent as a metaphor. I see the talent as the word of God; the Gospel. Each man was given a gift from God, the master, of understanding the word at different levels of understanding. Increasing the talents means that that servant spread and taught the word and brought more people into the kingdom of God by teaching them to believe in, and have faith in Jesus Christ. But the last servant did not preach the word that he was given and kept it to himself and therefore not bringing more people to believing in God and what His Son did for us on the cross. Because he did not bring people to Christ, they lost their eternal life and are now in a place were there is grinding of teeth.

Do you believe everyone was given the exact same gifts? "Evangelising"? That's the spirit of anti-Christ. It's anti-Church and *especially* anti-Biblical. You write like a Protestant and sound like you don't know the Bible. If you are of good will, please read the Bible. Pray the BIble. Pray at all times to be Converted and _not be like the one-talent son of Satan described here._

    • @jtodora
      @jtodora 3 роки тому +2

@@MelanCholy2001 No, I do not believe that we are all given the same gifts and I don't believe that we are all called to evangelism. But I do believe, that whether you are Catholic, Protestant on non-denominational, if you believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, you should be spreading the word at every opportunity. If not by word, by action. No matter what gift God as given you, do it well, and to the best of you ability and show the light of Jesus in your work and words. This sick world needs true believers to show the light of Christ. And if the Catholic church does not believe that, then I guess I'm not a Catholic. But I will tell you this. I do know the Bible, a lot better then most Catholics, and I do know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. God Bless you Melan, spread the word no matter what your gift.

      @nicksdragon6929 3 роки тому +3

@@MelanCholy2001 I would suggest you read Bishop Barron's books and find out that he also agrees with jtodora, it is all about "Evangelism". He says we are all given the gift of Evangelism to one degree or another by being Priest, King, and prophets. At Catholic Answers, their Bishop Robert Barron's column says; "Question:
What is the meaning of the baptismal gifts of priest, prophet, and king?
      Answer:
The baptized serve as priests through their sacrificial efforts to bring people to God. They serve as prophets through their witness to the truth in word and deed. And they serve as kings in their efforts to lead others-again through word and deed-to use their talents to advance the Kingdom of God (see CCC 1241).
Not only is this munus triplex (triple office) a rich way to characterize the Lord; it is also a very good way to designate who the baptized are supposed to be. According to Catholic theology, baptism is much more than merely a symbolic sign of belonging to the church. It is the means by which a person is incorporated into Christ, becoming a member of his mystical body. Baptism, accordingly, makes the baptized an alter Christus, another Christ. This is precisely why, for example, every candidate for baptism is anointed with oil, just as, in the Old Testament, priests, prophets, and kings were anointed upon assumption of their offices.
For more on this matter, see Bishop Robert Barron’s column.
Loyola press continues on and says it well, "At your baptism you were marked with oil as a sign that you are consecrated to God and anointed by the Holy Spirit. Your anointing also was a sign that you are joined to Christ and share in his threefold mission as a prophet, priest, and king."

A "talent" is a quota or unit of Divine revelation. One of the main currencies of the Kingdom of God is the revelation of God. The "ability" speaks of how much the soul can refine or fully understand and apply the revelations received. 5 is a lot of revelations or Divine knowledge. 2 is a good measure. Though 1 "talent" is not as great as the previous two cases, it is better than nothing. The believer who received 1 "talent" did not activate Genesis 1:28 in his life, meaning he did not bear the fruitfulness of Divine virtues, nor multiply the seed of Christ in his soul, thus he was not able to replenish his soul with the knowledge of Christ.

I'm starting to think that Catholic Productions, is trying to get it's followers to purchase the videos.
That's not right, you are supposed to give the word without pay
Its great that you do this for us. I know it takes effort and it does take money.
But do not give us only half, you are only making our foundation of the word, incomplete. And you know that we need it to be complete so when the trials of life try to up root us.
I don't know if you all are doing this on purpose or do not realize what you are doing. Obviously, by reading the comments, I'm not the only one who is bringing this up.
If you keep cutting the explanations short and giving no part 2, in a way you actually become the 3 servant.
You have a talent, but are not using it, to its fullest potentially
In the most respected way, I ask you.....

Please complete your videos, we all need the word and Dr. Pitre is a gift to us all. He explains the word so well and so insightful.

However, Paul in scripture talks about how the preacher of the word deserves his wages. 1 Timothy 5:17-18, "Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching; for the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle an ox when it is treading out the grain," and "The laborer deserves his wages."' Paul is saying that the preacher of the word deserves to ear money for what he is doing. Similarly, in 1 Corinthians 9:1-12 Paul explains the passage about muzzling oxen with respect to the preacher of the word having the right to collect money for what he does, so that he may earn a living. Paul later goes on to say that while he has that right, he does not use his right in order not to burden the Churches he preaches to.

@@robertdunbar355 I understand what your saying and of course, the laborer deserves his wages.
But don't forget that Jesus told his disciples to not worry about their provisions. He said that the Father feeds the birds and clothes to grass, so how much more would He do for them?
In both explanations, the thing is to trust the Father for your provisions.
And don't you know that the more subscribers, you can get paid? All we have to do, is press subscribe and give it a like.
If Catholic Productions, is purposely cutting the videos short, in order to sell the full videos......then we can just go to another channel that will give us the whole explanation. Divine Mercy is a great channel and Fr Alar, is awesome.
And interesting that you can find youtube videos of Dr Pitre giving his lectures, at a church, in full.
Because of all this, and also the many people who also ask why the videos get cut short, that's why I made this comment.
If I make it sound harsh, I don't mean to but I am asking as an atheist would. I used to be atheist and I have read some comments from atheists who actually watch this. So an atheist would question this.
All you got to do is follow the money and you'll find the truth. That's just common sense.
Besides, who does the labor without first making sure they can finish it?
Isn't that what Jesus also said?
I feel I have the right to ask, especially when I'm not the only one. I guess I'm just the only one willing to call them out, the way I have.
Hopefully I owe them the apology of assuming the worst.
Either they are being shady or not.
I would like to know, which is it?
That's why I would like them to respond.

The Master reaped where he did not sow. The Master is Our Lord. The Master sowed the Word to the Israelites for thousands of years and now he is reaping both Israelites and gentiles, although the Word was never sowed to the gentiles. Thus the comment the Master sowed where he did not reap. The talents represent the Word. The servants who benefited from the Word gained on Earth as well as in Heaven. The servant who did not benefit from the Word gained nothing.
The Kingdom is open to all not because one is simply an Israelite but because he benefits and uses the Word.

Jesus is telling you that this is Satan's system. Why? Because, the Lord of hosts reaps where he does not sow. Why would the Creator care about your money? All of Creation belongs to the Creator, every grain of sand is always the Creator's, therefore the Creator will never want your money or your belongings. The Creator's interest in Creation is the living memories made in Creation.

So if we see someone, or some organisation like the Catholic Church is miscomprehending the truth of something and then influencing others.
We have a duty to make others aware of this.
If we choose just to hold onto this truth not vocalising the understanding we have been given, letting others be guided or go astray by false teachings, we are also at fault.
Like the true meaning of religion only being the personal reconnection of each individual to their Creator, that no manmade organisation can ever claim authority over or hold ownership over others by claiming false authority!
Just as a ship is a vessel, the human being is a spiritual vessel that can only become full, to travel to its right destination, by holding enough of the right values within. Being Peaceful, grateful. . .
Just like a ship can travel to a port, our only op-port-unity in this life to personally unite with the greater truth in a personal way that can only ever come from within each if us and show outwardly, not by following other's doctrines, only then having truth in common, be part of the true common unity.
No man made organisation can give this to anyone, by making up false doctrines that are so far removed from the reality of life, there is no power in them to make the connection back to where we really come from.
If I do not stand up to make a statement as an example to my children for them to see me expressing my disapproval of such organisations as the Catholic church who push such false standards for life. How can I ever expect my children gain the personal respect or have control for their own lives and rights to hold their own individual vision for life, knowing that their father is prepared to stand up to condem this type of evilness, pervading humanity via these organisations who attempt to dictate and dominate the individual rights for holding personal belief.
If the church was a noble organisation it would have spend every part of its amassed wealth, to rid the world of injustices like pornography and theft and killing of those who are innocent. Yet it prefers to invest in stocks and shares. To increase its position of power over Manon.
While its inner circles are riddled with infestations of the same sorts of perversity. Hiding within its false sanctum!
