OM System is my favorite camera brand so far. I have been using the Tough series of cameras since 2016 on my travels and everyday life. The images are great from the cameras. The TG-7 looks to be a great addition to the lineup. Very excited for the release.

I have the TG6 and I love it for its macro capabilities and for underwater use. The pro capture is a nice addition to the camera but I would have liked to get a manual mode which is something a lot of tg users wanted for a long time. Otherwise it’s a great camera to have.
Tg7 actually is a TG6 with usb C. It is a great camera either way but if you have tg6 no reason to upgrade
Thanks for this great review. I would like to know though if the camera has s capability of taking self interval shots? Like it will take pictures on its own every 5 or 10 seconds like in GoPro.
This camera is only marginally better than my TG-4. And most of the upgrades could be handled in a firmware update too the TG-4.
Also have a TG-4. I don't believe TG-4 has the processing power to do 4K video or some of the newer features like focus stacking etc, so a firmware update would probably not bring it up to the newer versions when it comes to features. What prevented me from updating is that while I'd like some of the new features the image quality only seem to be only marginally improved. IQ is the weakest part of the TG-series IMO.
I like the idea of a tough camera but I do think its time they put a larger sensor in. A 1" or even M 4/3 even if that had to make it a bit bigger. They manage to put an apsc in the RICOH GR III

True, but tell us what the GR3 gains in terms of weather sealing or keeping 'dust off the sensor'? I think these two cameras are in a way made for and compliment one another. Shoot mostly with the GR, then take the TG out when the great British weather turns against us. BTW, my GR is 12 years old, and I actually prefer the rendering from its 10.1mp sensor to the later GR's aps-c. Can’t wait to try a TG-7.
Are there any significant improvements on the TG6?
I wish OM System would add an EVF to the TG series of cameras. Outside in bright sunlight the rear LCDs are just too hard to see. Other than that this camera looks nearly perfect.
You are right, this would be a great addition but I wonder what would be sacrificed if they did include one. The screen did however perform well when trying the TG-7 out, whether in the canyon or on dry land.
Tell me, does anyone know what exactly is the difference between the TG 6 and TG 7? Because when I look at the specifications, I see almost no difference between them
Battery can be replaced
For me the best of TG7 is the macro mode, which is quite good, and also that is a though subaquatic camera. The rest, for me, TG7 doesnt have anything optically better than any other decent compact camera.

Hi, I would like some advice. I'm undecided whether to buy a Go Pro 12 or the Olympus TG7. What do you recommend? I would use it for photographing landscapes and especially for snorkeling. Can filters be mounted on the Olympus TG7? Thank you
I just bought one, prefer it over my GoPro. Much better images. Yes you can add ND and CPL filters to it. Brilliant product

What is brand new about this ?..there is no difference from TG 6?...it is a good camera but not new.

Unfortunately not but we did tweak some of the scene 'motion' settings to allow us to tailor our setup whilst shooting.
Why get this over a go pro?

As Timmy mentions the TG-7 is really amazing for macro photography, but if you wish to get a more standard style of still or video the TG-7 would be a far better option over a GoPro. I love my GoPro and it's super wide content I get, but both the HERO11 (or 12 now) and TG-7 is an awesome combination. I'd say the TG is more of a concious camera that you get out to take a specific shot whereas the GoPro is that run and gun style of action cam you hit record on and trim in post - Pete

I have both. Prefer the video from ny GoPro 11….buth the tg-7 is better for point-and-shoot photography

I would say not as there is no chance of me throwing and dragging my phone down a canyon like we did with the TG-7s.
i own the tg-7 since 3 days. and for a rugged camera the display glas is worse. at day one, only playing with it on glass kitchen table there are some microscratches and one big scratch in the display glas. i cant believe, this camera is really dust-proof and for rough conditions without big damage on the glass. i am very dissappointed now! thats not a cheap camera overall, but the displayglass will be :-(
Except 4k video, absolutely no enhancement compare to my "old" 8 years faithful Tg4, I wished 20M sensor and better sensitivity and a manual mode also for focus (especially for video). Olympus fails its goal...
Pass, based on my OM-1 experience.
I was wondering, can the wifi and bluetooth be switched off? aka airplane mode? Dealbreaker otherwise for electrosensitive gadget freak like me.
Very disappointed with OM system! After so many years not even a better sensor or better resolution. Totally not worth the upgrade from the TG-6. Release the 8 .
I have the 6 years old TG-5 and this tg-7is the same, the same, nothing improve, just little cosmetics. Shame.

That just shows they got it right from very early on. You get to save £500. The main point of the TG-7 was to put the new OM System branding on something that didn’t need lots of new R&D. The updates such as USB-C are great for new users, although a lot of the new features could have been done with a firmware update, but may not have been possible under the agreement with Olympus.
@@chrispatmore8944 It's a point of view, mine is that they don't have competition in this field, in this specificity, I have a GoPro 11 and I know how bad it is for photography, the other brands... it's not even worth talking about... They accommodated themselves, It's like EA Sports' FIFA, year after year the same game with a bit of mascara and yet another botox injection.
