Yes,I had stress fractures in both feet(big girl jumping barefoot on mini-trampoline!) that didn’t show up on X-Ray! I was in pain, but since the “experts” told me I was fine,I didn’t question it at first. But after a week of pain,I went to a walk in center and they X-Ray-ed me again, this time spotting the fractures. There was no permanent physical damage, but I did feel a bit “shamed” by the fact that I questioned the first doctor’s opinion. Thank you,Dr. K,for another great video!

FYI fresh fractures may not be visible on x-ray. However, as your body starts to make new bone to heal the fracture, the new bone formation becomes visible on x-ray. So if still in pain, contact your doctor about a follow up x-ray. I’m not a doc, but I believe a 2 week follow up is about the right timing. Not too soon and not too late!! Ask your doc!

Perfect timing, I just got gaslit by a doctor for my strep throat of all things. First, they wouldn't order a test. They said to go to Urgent Care. Then they said they'd order a test but I have to travel an hour out to take it. The strep is visible on my tonsils. I have every symptom. I catch it nearly every year because I have reasons to believe I have a poor immune system. I caught it from my daughter who caught it from school.
Then the Dr. Told me that even if I test positive, I might "just be a carrier".

I've been gaslit a lot. Family, doctors, work. If I was in your situation where your coworker was gossiping about you, I would have replied with " well, you know what they say, great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events and small minds discuss people" then looked him up and down with a disgusted look on my face and said "mmh" (If I'm spelling that sound correctly). That's not the best way to handle that. I understand that. I've been gaslit so much, I can get a little...uhhh....sassy. I mean if you want to play Russian roulette with a wild card, who am I to say you're wrong. Not the right attitude, I know. I'm working on it. I'm glad you said that quote at the end. Not enough leaders talk about that. Also, It seems like society holds doctors more responsible for the individual's health than the individual. I don't think most people are consciously aware of it though.

I’ve gone through this so many times. Going through this now with a hernia repair that has given me pain for over a year and a half.
I can feel the mesh has moved..and I feel it was never placed properly
Plus the surgeon didn’t even try to fix the hernia without mesh, I told her my body rejects everything foreign, and that I’m reactive to titanium! It she also used titanium clips.
She opted to cut between two small incisional hernias (after open heart surgery...they were tiny…but protruding and use two pieces of mesh because she didn’t have a big enough piece with her and had to borrow another piece from the hospital so she used two pieces instead of one and then she wanted me to go home that day and she didn’t prescribe post surgery pain..medication.
Thank god the post op team was on my side and stood their ground even to calling the hospitalologist in.
This is the short story of it. It’s been horrible and painful ever since. An ultrasound and a cat scan didn’t even show the mesh at all. So. We k ow it’s there why can’t they do an mri or another ultra sound
I’ve also gone to my doctor with a new hernia…over nine months ago and it took him till just now to get me the ultrasound that proved it. Now I’m waiting for a surgeon.
I am 67 years old. This has been really awful.
He’s lied to me several times. I asked him if pain can cause high blood pressure…he said no.
I asked him if there isn’t some kind of triage for determining severity of the situation and getting testing done accordingly. He denied there was and said it’s on a first come first served basis, no matter what the situation.
I also asked if I could be reacting again to the titanium I’m used and he denied the possibility of that saying no one reacts to titanium. I reminded him that yes they do..twenty years I did and nearly died because no one would listen to me.
He got upset with me, stood back red faced and clasped his hands and asked “ what? Are we not doing enough for you here?

Exactly ! When I reported to the doc that I had POTS, he immediately thought “de conditioned ” and pushed for exercise. But POTS is dysautonomia and has nothing to do with being out of shape. Your heart rate just keeps going up as long as you are standing and can cause fainting, due to loss of blood pressure; then you have to sit or lay down and your heart rate goes down. Normally treated with IV saline, NOT exercise. Definitely put me in the wrong box! He should have ordered a blood test, which a different doc did a week later and found that my electrolytes were very low. Exercise could have killed me.

OMG, yes! For years orthopedic surgeons told me hip pain on my hip replacement side was bursitis. I knew gluteus medius was involved. Finally found a doc who understood I actually COULD have an MRI with metal suppression technology. What do ya know… tendinosis of the lateral attachment of gluteus medius. 😤 Treatment for bursitis and tendinosis are completely opposite of one another.

I was gaslit when I went to the ER after peeing blood at home. The pee was opaque. They would not let me give a sample. I swear they had me confused with someone else. I had vomited for so long that I was dry heaving and was so weak that I had aspirated vomit. The ER doc never examined me. They put me in a bed and left me there for HOURS. They never took my vitals. I was worried that I was developing sepsis. After about five hours the nurse came and told me to get dressed and to leave that I was being discharged. I said “the doctor never examined me! No one took my vitals! I’m sick. I’m worried my organs are shutting down. “. She told me they were going to call security. Then the doctor put his head in to warn me to leave. I told him if he did a CBC and showed me the results, and if the results did not imply life threatening infection I would go home if my own volition. To prove me wrong he ordered the CBC. A little while later the nurse came in and started wheeling my bed out of the room. I asked her “what are you doing?” She said, “taking you to ICU. You have been admitted.” A moment later I was out. I don’t think I went into a coma, but my body was worn out and I basically fell asleep. I woke up every once in a while but I was delirious. I never sat up. Never watched a tv show. Never ate or drank. At some point I became aware of multiple IVs just pouring fluid and medicine into me. At another point a few days later I woke up briefly to hear a doctor introducing himself as an infectious disease specialist consulting on the case because the hospital isn’t had not been able to find something to cure the infection. I was too sick to talk and went back to sleep while he was still doing whatever he was doing. I just slept for about 8 days. I have PTSD because I know I would have died if I wouldn’t have thought to challenge the doctor by appealing to his ego and
daring him to prove me wrong. I have a hard time trusting doctors now. I have significant depression and anxiety from the feeling of being ignored and written off as I lay dying. What if I didn’t have a graduate degree and what if I didn’t know what test he could order to rule out serious infection? What if I couldn’t speak English well? What if I had never heard of sepsis?. What if I were Deaf and without an interpreter? What if I were a person if color? I believe I would have had zero chance. And knowing now that this type of mistreatment happens to people of color and other marginalized groups all the time makes me even more depressed.

We are all the same round pegs that they want to fit in round holes. Period. I wish I could afford to see a functional medicine doctor. You know what I’ve experienced, particularly when it comes to one person who actually introduced me to the concept of “gaslighting?”I saw she was continually accusing people of “gaslighting” her and yet I noticed that SHE “gaslit” me & people around her regularly. Personally, I felt so defensive and judged and felt disoriented at times. I find that dichotomy so confusing.
My experience of being “gaslit,” (which seems to be more a part of my past ) doesn’t seem to follow that particular pattern as it did with her.

Sometimes Doctors have too many Patients and too little time between Patients. Especially when Patients show up late.
Naturally, a Doctor in a Clinic basically is given 15 minutes per Patient.
In Reality, most Physicians don't spend 15 min., it's his Nurse that does.
You have to and Must be your own Advocate! Keep a Medical Notebook with your Questions and Concerns? Reactions to Medications, etc...etc. This is also a great reference in case of Emergency for EMS/ EMT's.
There's a reason why you feel pain. It's your brain telling you something is wrong! If the Standard Exam doesn't show anything? A broader Examination is needed!

Recently i had a crash on bike. Hurt my hip. It swelled up so much so much i couldn't put on my pants. Went saw my primary and said i should go to the urgent care to get a ct. It "showed" a hip fracture but the report was a bit weard. They were preparing for hip replacement. In the hospital, waiting for surgery i was able get up and walk so well, i qas able get in my 10,000 steps. I looked at the images myself and, as an engineer, i recognized the images has some data processing errors that made it look like a fracture. As the time for surgery approached, i told the head nurse that i would not sign a consent form without better data. I got an MRI and did not have any fracture. Goodness, i almost a an unnecessary hip replacement. It would have altered my life without need. I am still glad i stood up for myself and followed my gut feelings and demanded better data.

I had a bad experience yesterday and I realized I need to find a doctor or consultant who’s not a used car salesman type. He basically yelled at me and I feel sorry for him because he doesn’t realize how abrasive he is. I had already heard about him from a physical therapist and it was 10xs worse. The problem is that they only have one solution they are selling or surgery and they don’t have anything else so they get angry. Why would I want someone who is super angry to do a procedure on me or inject me with something that I know won’t help because I’ve had steroids before. They are not a “solution” and cause a lot of other problems down the line like tendon damage and weight gain.

I was in the hospital to have my 6th child, 4th c-section. I had one section with a general (emergency), one that numbed me from the neck down (scary!), and one that didn’t numb me enough (I could feel the first cut and freaked out!) so I ended up with a general (he must have given me a lot because my next coherent thought was seven hours later). The plan for this (last) birth was an epidural. The anesthesiologist was a half hour late. He walked in and said, “So did your doctor explain that we’re doing a general since you’re too short for an epidural?” 😳 Did I look that stupid? I told him in no uncertain terms that we were NOT doing that, and if he didn’t agree, I was getting dressed and leaving. Then came the whining. He told me that if we were doing this my way that he should have been there a half hour earlier, so now they’d be running late and “they’ll yell at me.” 😢 I held my ground. I did not get a general. He came to see me later and said he looked at my chart, and wondered if my concerns were because of my first general anesthetic (where I was put to sleep for emergency delivery and woke up to say good-bye to my dying baby). He said he thought I wanted to be awake just because of “hearts and flowers”, and I should have told him. 🤔 He could have looked at my chart…or asked. I’ve told a number of people (I worked in the hospital) about being “too short for an epidural”. The story always gets plenty of laughs. If that had been my first child, I probably would have believed him.

    • @mtromblyrt5257
      @mtromblyrt5257 9 днів тому +1

Sometimes you need to go above and beyond protocol. I don't necessarily think he's referring to doing less than, or going completely off from protocol or standard of care, just not being pigeon-holed/restricted to protocols and standards. IE, what he said about his wrist. . . They followed the protocol, doing plain x-rays and CT scans and didn't find fracture. He knew something was up, but had to convince the provider to look further because the previous imaging looked "fine". He finally got an MRI ordered, and there was a fracture. That shouldn't happen! Also, he referred to a patient who needed a hip, and a surgeon who's protocol was to do spinal anesthesia for hips. The patient had medical PTSD and a phobia of needles. Kaveh confronted the surgeon to try to change the anesthesia plan to general to accommodate the patient's PTSD issues, and the surgeon told him to suck it up. Again, this should not happen, and I would not be using a provider who wasn't willing to tailor care to my needs. Do we want humans for providers or AI bots following algorithms?

A lot of doctors seem emotionally immature to me. I think it’s because they spend their formative young adult years in a super competitive environment in medical school with their noses in a book instead of doing the normal developmental things like learning to communicate, dating, learning to hold a job and manage money, starting a family, etc. Therefore, a lot of them end up with poor social and communication skills. That’s my theory, anyway.

My husband died thanks to a gaslighting doctor who had no idea what she was doing. We’re in Canada where we can’t get a new specialist.
She kept telling him he was fine when he was clearly very sick. She gave him relapses every three months for over 2 1/2 years. Her strategy was to keep doing the same thing over and over and he relapsed every three months. Doing the same thing over and over for years and hoping for a different outcome is the definition of madness.
We only got a second opinion when my husband found out he could consult with doctors who knew what they were doing but his body was too weak to take the treatment. He died in my arms at the age of 68, a non smoker and a teetotaler. He died of a massive heart attack from a lung disease that nobody ever died of. I’m bereft with grief
If I could name this catch u next Tuesday I would. She caused my husband to relapse over and over; every three months for two years. I’m heartbroken

I could move my arm more. I had no movements in my finger. This is right after they pull blood out of me. I had no motion. I’m right handed everything I had to do was left-handed for four days. I went to the ER. They give me some type of muscle relaxers. The doctor told me looks like an infection. I’m just getting the movement better and my arm in my hand, but my right hand is still swollen. The back of my elbow still swollen and I have a little bit of pain. I asked at the ER for a CT scan but they didn’t do that even an x-ray, so yeah, I just had an x-ray the other day but this is what happened to me when I had lab work done to me that my whole arm just went stiff. I couldn’t move it and I would say I was in a pain about a 10+ all night that I couldn’t even move. The pain was so bad that I had chills all night and then I was running a fever to. I decided to goto the emergency, can you tell me what that could’ve been? Is it because they hit me right with a needle or was the needle infected or was it contaminated? Please let me know thank you so much.

I've had so many crappy doctors. One was an OB that was on duty during the birth of my daughter. We lost my daughter's heart beat in me. This Doctor would not come in. Told nurses to put me on oxygen and call my family let them know my unborn child was dead an I was going to die. The hospital called him again and told him to get in there. He finally showed up AFTER my actual OB doctor came in an order a emergency C-section. The hospital came in after the C-section and ask if we wanted to press charges. We didn't bc we didn't have money to get councils. But Dr. Casselberry got his owned. He was a child molester. He was caught by his 22 yr old daughter molesting her younger 10 year old sister. Guess he had been doing this to her when she was younger ...So she shot him in the head. He lives but with the mentality of a 3 yr old.
Flat out when I met him in the 3 doctor rotation of OB ..he creeper me out. I kept having a weird feeling. Especially when he touched me. His "mid wife" that I never sign up for gave me a vag. exam. She told me that I had a really small cervix and Could Not Wait to Touch it !??!!! Now that was the ickest thing I ever went through . And that just one Doctor. I was born with Ton of birth defects. Thank God my Dad was a scientist. Bio Chemest and Toxicology were his PhD in. Bayer build labs for him
and 600 employees. He was the VP of the Bayer farms. He was my advocate with ALL my doctors. He saved my life so many times bc of bad doctors. Another surgery was screw up. Doctors was doing a laparoscopy and puncher my badder and sent me home. As soon as I got home my stomach exploded and spreed blood and guts all over the wall. Lost 6 pints. Yeah he fixed it he thought. But not. I swelled up like I was nine months pregnant.
I had hemorrhage in my belly. Bk to the hospital for 30 days. No food. Until my stomach healed.
I have soooo many terrible doctors.
