I know I'm in the minority of fans who loved the original version of "Here at the Western World," but who loves this uptempo version even more. Swings like a mother******!
Bass - Freddie Washington Backup vocals - Carolyn Leonhart, Cindy Mizelle Drums, Percussion - Keith Carlock Guitar - Jon Herington, Wayne Krantz Keyboards, Vocals - Donald Fagen, Jeff Young Saxophone - Walt Weiskopf Trumpet - Michael Leonhart
Awesome performance night. Pretty damn decent recording. Thanks for posting. "Free Bird", alone, is worth the price of admission. Classic commentary from the bard.
very strange exercise. It's kind of intriguing, but as soon as the backing vocals come in any promise it had kind of falls apart there. The chorus end is alright though.
What this highlights is that Becker was an important part of the songwriting team in Steely Dan, even if the song was written by Fagen. There is something lacking without him, even with great musicians.
This performance has 11 songs written and recorded as a solo artist. This is the proper band and arrangements for his material. The "Steely Dan" tunes are so refreshing to hear with a smaller/solo orientation to the music. You are so right;that the sound is magical with the duo!; I love this band though; really emphasizes the song writer! Glad to communicate with a fellow fan of all these"oldies" Peace, brother!!👍😎
Something lacking?? Why do people say this stuff and not follow up with reason & logic. The privilege of being on this planet at the same time as great artists like Donald Fagen is seemingly lost on you.
Even if I'm a long time fan, I think yes, "Here at the western world" is a mess.... Sorry to say so but it's much too far from the original version. For the rest of the concert, great time! Thanks for posting.
You said it perfectly. The only good thing about this cursed version of the song is that it’s more upbeat than the original, so it’s great for an opener… but at what cost?
Saw this tour in Vegas. Perfection and Grace
Simply the best 💯☺️ never get tired of Donald Fagen it is always been the soundtrack of my life. Thank you for sharing.💯💕☺️

Great Audio and I love all the songs! Wow, "Mary Shut the Garden Door", WOW WOW WOW, What a great song which I never knew existed! What a major treat!
3rd world man here is just insanely good... Thanks for sharing this!!!
Third world man is a song I’d love to hear live.. maybe someday. And no problem, glad you enjoy! Love the F#A# profile pic btw
Saw this show in San Diego. Thanks for the memory.
You’re lucky… I’m sure it was great!
Thanks and love the new version Here at the western world !
Another amazing concert!
I wore out an old Spanish Steely Dan release. Wore it out, finally put the cover in my coffee mug face.

My first album I bought was the royal scam I think in 1975, I was 15, played over and over. 😁
That’s awesome… My fathers first album was Aja In 77, then my first album was the 180g repress of Aja haha funny how things work like that
@@HatTooFlat I was brought up to 'The Royal Scam'. Very special record.
How bloody professional …..thx….
Thanks for shearing, Ivan. Amazing quality.
Thanks for posting ! Wonderful show !!!
Absolutely cursed version of here at the western world
I agree lol it’s creative, but very odd
Someone else posted a different show with the same chart. I agree. He said it was dropped shortly after in the tour.

It's certainly West of Hollywod, this joint.
it kind of grows on you...
You're worlds more lenient than I am, Ivan -- thanks for the posting.
I was there!
Thank you.
What I Do is a lovely song
I think this is killer. Much better than the original. Thumbs up from me. (Here at the Western World).
Which original are you referring to?
@@HatTooFlat Here at the Western World.
@@Skylarking00 I agree. It's kind of punk jazz which goes with the West(ern) World theme.
Right there with you on "Here at the Western World."
shout out to the IGY guitar solo

You won’t find a bigger Walter Becker fan than me. With deep respect to him, there’s nothing lacking here imho.
Rip WB.
👍
Yeah, and Chet Baker's cursed shirt collar was a little wrinkled, while he sang My Funny Valentine.
unacceptable
Why Becker is out this set ??? 2006
Donald Fagen toured solo in 2006 to promote Morph the Cat, which I believe Becker had no part in

Have to agree on that. The original is the best HATWW.
6:49 the rhythm guitarist throws in the wrong lick there :)
Kick drum is so loud and fat, it screws the entire mix.....
Kinda sucks that it's monaural (mono) also.
C´mon, is not that bad for a live record...
And his clarinet solo sucked -- he could barely even find the actual melody.
