I suppose in order for anyone's rating system to make sense, you have to define the scale - your 7 ("looks alright at best", "bare minimum", "nothing special") is more like my 5, your 9 closer to my 7.5, while 7 for me is "solid" and 5 should be average (equally bad and good), not just bad, mathematically speaking ;) You're probably a bit too lenient, but effort appreciated. Keep it up!

Yeah, I posted a similar comment and scrolled down to see if others felt this too. I think this guy watches too much IGN. His scoring is abysmal, and he's too lenient for the most part. Eiyuuden getting such a high score is blasphemy, considering all of its issues (and I'm not even talking about the shitty localization).
Very fun and informative video but way too lenient with the scores. Like with The 7th Saga, you say the battle system does the bare minimum and give it 7 (and I don't think you gave anything below a 7 whole video). And it felt like you gave more 9's than all other ratings combined. Still, I'd love to see more of these videos
loved the reference to aggrotech music. What are your favorite aggrotech bands?
Has anyone checked out the changes in Eiyuden Chronicles localization? I heard the last patch made corrections but i haven't seen screenshots or anything.
Check the Eiyuden nexus page, they have a mod who removes the majority of inaccuracies, closing to the japanese script, it's a work in progress, but the dialogs are way better now

It's impressing how I don't agree with this guy's opinions on games and politics, but I still watch it nevertheless. 😅
One thing I didn't like about 7th Saga is that your enemies can dodge your critical hits after you defended the round before. That kind of defeats the purpose of a critical hit.

7:15 If the story is only decent and barebones, how did you give it a 7? It should be a 3 or a 4. Is your rating scale from 5 to 10 or something?

Octopath traveler 2 is great but I’m sad it’s so much easier than the first game. So many mechanics and things to help you break the game earlier on like the black market or being able to beat enemies up to like 15 levels higher for quick levels.
7th Saga, who uses mode 7 has received a 7 in all categories. if the name was 10th Saga maybe the history could be different...

Breath of fire my favorite rpg title and the 4th version is my favorite I love foulu I missed a character like jamie or bosch from sf 6 with a whip like weapon or something similar in that half monkey character style like from saiyuki jorney west ps1 or oriental legends 2 igs pgm2 in the game with a class like enchanter witcher morpher trainer beast master or pictomancer, in addition to foulu from the breath of fire series I love the characters sten, lin, rei, scias, deis, peco spar, mogu, ershin, Gilliam, cray, garr, gobi , teepo, this series and franchise deserves remakes with additions, continuations, new versions in other types of game styles, etc.

I think the notation is somewhat weird, "nothing special": 7
Maybe it's cultural differences, but for me, something which is nothing special, doing the bare minimum is a 4 or 5, and I consider a 7 being something good

It's nice to see a random assortment of RPGs sometimes, helped me find a few I overlooked.
How is 7 bare minimum? 7 should be an above average game! Also, Sword of Vagrant's graphics are a 6.5 to 7 at most.
That's how most use the scale, it's weird but a 5 is considered bad, not decent.
@@Vulpas That's why I immediately ignore anyone who is scared to give scores of 5 and below. These "game reviewers" need to take a leaf out of movie reviewers' books. They actually rate them properly. Game reviewers are too desperate for easy access previews and review codes that they have to give everything a good score smh
@@xplodax That might be part of it, but it's normalized now and so it's how people will rate even old games. That's why it's better to grade with a tier list from A-F.
@@Vulpas 5 isn't even decent it's supposed to be average at best because it's the middle of the scale
I love Breath of Fire 4, but 9 for story is a joke 🤣. The narrative sucks balls there, character development is almost null for some of them. The art is beautiful and the gameplay could be better if the enemies weren't that weak

No he doesn't, he just thinks it's overrated. He got PS5 just to play FF16. He likes FF7, I think he likes a few others too. FF10 is the best but somehow he doesn't think so.
Giving Chrono Cross a 10 for music, with that battle theme (one of the worst ever, and the track you hear the most), is probably unfair.
Finally someone who thinks the same as me. I agree with you, I would take 1 point off just because the battle theme is very bad and is what plays the most in the game. I never understand why Chrono Cross fans never mention this when talking about the OST.
@@brunodiniceoh, you both can prove it's bad ? Doubt so. Because its not objectively "bad", it's just your opinion. And - this is rarely a secret - your opinion only has some value for you. For others it costs nothing.
@@PuffZombie I have nothing to prove to anyone, it's just my opinion which happens to be the same as the one I commented here. I like Chrono Cross and its OST is excellent but the battle theme is one of the worst I've heard to date and I always find it strange when they praise the OST and don't mention that this track isn't at the level of the other tracks in the game, given that is soon the battle theme. So, for ME it has always been bad and if you don't think the same as me that's fine, everyone has their own opinion my friend.
The combat music is the worst in the otherwise impeccable OST, but it's still good. Brings a 10/10 OST down to a 9.5./10.
Chrono Cross has the worst battle theme I've evER heard and Final Fantasy 5 is #2
