Andreas has gotten very good at public speaking from some of his very first ones. Awesome to see him do this. Would love to see him in some debates with others.
Andreas teamed up with Gavin Wood for a book on Ethereum coming out in November. That says something about both of them - they both recognize intelligence in others.
Bankers and politicians will keep fighting against disruptive technologies like cryptocurrencies. Andreas always throws some truths right on their faces.

Andreas has really hit his stride since his great presentations a few years ago when he was already one of the most compelling, inspired and gifted public speakers I'd ever seen. Bitcoin is greatly honored and benefited by his continued energy and dedication.
20:28 "removing the clearing house and replacing it with a consortium (aka cartel) of the same market makers who have manipulated and compromised every market in history and doing that in a way that closes this from transparency (...) is not a blockchain; that's a bullshit"
Seriously...why can't our world leaders be as intelligent as this man? Thank you so very much for sharing this power!! This is such an incredible presentation.
Great ending summary, currency is to decentralized block chain what email was to the internet, the route to adoption. Damn, that is the most clear minded statement I have ever heard on the subject, Zero to One.
This video reminds me of a TED talk but is better than that. He's right about learning quickly "by storing your BTC on Windows". Investing in blockchain really has you thinking more about security and privacy. 2FA is the minimum security for me these days. This technology is driving us towards privacy coins: Zclassic - growth potential, Monero - already heading to mass adoption and DeepOnion - airdrop and unique Vote Central coming. Exciting new world, be ready for it.
2FA is very important to keep your funds secure but it's also important to keep your funds away from spying eyes. The use of the TOR network adds an extra layer of security and anonymity for the users of a Tor based crypto. Some crypto's use it but I think that only DeepOnion uses it natively.
This technology is driving us towards privacy because cryptocurrency goes against the ideals of our government - to see what we're doing all the time, and to try and control us. Coins like DeepOnion and Monero are great because they present more of a defense to take us back to our rights as people, and to have true control over our money again. Great points you made.
I agree with the posts above, privacy is something you miss once it's too late, and this is directly linked with security aspects such as 2FA, Tornetowork and anonymous cryptos such as Monero and Dash, never heard about DeepOnion, but I googled it and sounds really interisting it too !!!
im so glad people sent him bitcoin to make up for the ones he had to sell to make ends meet for his family. I loved his book and agree with this view of blockchain (and bullshit as well). I call the bitcoin blockchain the slow and electricity burning database you use when you dont trust *anyone*
Blockchain or not, you need a trustless banking/trading system for there to be true price discovery. He covered this point very well. Always enjoy hearing his talks. All decentralized Crypto's to the moon!
Andre is just u. he a reflection of us in these respects. these info is inside us that's what will make it continue to evolve for us we the humanity and beyond. AND SO IT IS. AND WE WIN!
1000years ago, if I told you at that time. telling you there was no longer use gold as money. we will use paper money.for sure, no one will believe it. and it even doesn't make sense a paper can be a currency or money when everyone is holding a gold
Wow! What he said. LOL! He completed verbalized my feelings. Blockchain has huge potential but it is way too early to get a good grasp on the solution set. Would "Density of Adoption" be a great concept for a book?
"The whole point of a decentralized block-chain is you don't keep the information secure, you spread it out so thin, there is no place to attack it directly". - Andreas
people paz alot of money for great speakers that know their stuff. Will share this fantastic seminar come info evening. very cleary explained what is what even for the newbies.
Really fantastic speech! Never heard this pointed out so clearly. And it is still so relevant in 2019. I've invested in some really small cap stuff and starting to realize that even if the tech in itself is really awesome, it has nothing to do with market prices. And in five years unknown chains might pop up when people are ready for it and completely wipe out the onces I've put money in :P Also, the money is to dlt what email was to the internet. What a good way of looking at it. Great!
Man these are great videos to be able to watch for free. I think privacy coins will definitely have a huge place in the future if crypto especially DeepOnion with their deepvault feature and their deepsend feature that’s coming out and it’s still in the early stages to get in. There’s a bunch of great upcoming privacy projects coming up right now and I think 2018 will be a big year for it.
Good video, but you DO have to trust somebody as a "lay person". You have to trust the software developers. The average person would have no idea how to examine open source code to see if it's trustworthy. But, besides that, he's right. Don't have to trust anyone else.
in my humble opinion you can definately trust that loads of very competent coders will be examining the sources and the info just would spread faaast thru the net if there is something alarming :)
Yes, but between putting your trust into ONE team of developers payed by ONE company which essentially represents ONE actor (or interest), and putting your trust into the voice of ANY developer willing to look at the code who ALL agree that the code can be trusted despite having a diversity of interests, you get a much increased confidence in the latter.
I do understand the critic on "private blockchain" as its really just a slow database with some hype. However, I would like to know peoples view on proof-of-stake vs proof-of-work? I just don't like the idea of wasting all the compute resources for nothing. For me proof-of-stake seems like a good compromise of manipulation resistance and transaction speed, but I am still learning the topic.
This is so true. I love your presentations! Blockhain is now where internet was in 1992. so true. It's here to be developed, but yet blockchain is defo here to stay. In that terms based on trust however, privacy is next most important factor when it comes to wide spread and usage of this type of technology. With all respect to the Bitcoin there are now "new kids from the block" like Monero, DeepOnion, Zcash and similar trying to get there and be THE one. Talking about privacy of course. Lot's of recent developments since this video, lot's of new things like for example one of the coins that I've mentioned DeepOnion is running native on TOR, no need for any further setup like with other coins, just plug & play. Lot of great things coming up for the crypto and technology that we are not even aware of. It's great time to be part to all of these changes.
I totally agree with you when you say that blockchain technology is where the internet was in 92 and and that the money in the market and the expectations are the same around the internet in 98 and that we know what happened later and the same will happen to the blockchain economy...but at the same time i am still very positive just like you about the future of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology...de-banking all of us will be the final goal and i think that privacy coins will play a very important role in this challenge...decentralisation can not be possible for real if that doesn't guarantee a full privacy over transactions and contracts..blockchain and cryptocurrencies should give us first of all more freedom..and freedom and privacy must walk together.... Indeed lots of investors and adopters are looking at currencies like Dash and Monero..but there are already better options in the market.. there are privacy coins that are faster and more secure than Monero and Dash..for instance Zcoin, Hush, DeepOnion and NAVcoin.... I really like the DeepOnion project..they have published their whitepaper recently and soon they are going to release a mobile wallet that will allow holders to stake their coins 24/7 by using their Android phones..and this is a must have feature nowadays if we think in terms of mass adoption of cryptos in general.. as you perfectly know there are way more Android phones than personal computers in the world...and this is also very important for the basic concept of decentralisation... I would like to know your opinion on privacy coins and on the importance of developing mobile applications for cryptocurrencies to help the mass adoption..
Love that your conference was attended by those across the full spectrum of CC users (with the 1 BTC noob ;) - The blockchain progression is inexorable and unforgiving. I'm super excited about Blockchain developments that occur in "anonymous space" such as the TOR network. I'm curious if your opinion of the Blockchain being so full of HYPE also pertains to the "surgically-applied" TOR based coins? It seems that their communities are large enough and informed enough to survive the "VC Bullshit" in this particular space?
Although I now know a lot about this field I just wish I had discovered this field years back and understood it to invest well in it. People who sat in that conference and believed in it and invested in it had the best ROI
IMHO hardware wallets are needed for mass adoption. People don't want to risk their private keys on a £1 ebay purchase. But if you get a Trezor it only supports about 3 currencies and there are thousands so it's not there yet.
I'm guessing he doesn't like Coinbase. It sounds like he would prefer a world where every body is a tech savy developer who understands how to purchase and exchange Bitcoin with a wallet they made themselves. If you ever want Bitcoin to take off, it needs to be easily understood by common people.
You have to recognize the personal and authentic effort this guy is putting into the idea.
Great sarcasm LOL.
I don't think I've seen worse ha ha ha ha.
