This video reminds me of a TED talk but is better than that. He's right about learning quickly "by storing your BTC on Windows". Investing in blockchain really has you thinking more about security and privacy. 2FA is the minimum security for me these days. This technology is driving us towards privacy coins: Zclassic - growth potential, Monero - already heading to mass adoption and DeepOnion - airdrop and unique Vote Central coming. Exciting new world, be ready for it.
2FA is very important to keep your funds secure but it's also important to keep your funds away from spying eyes. The use of the TOR network adds an extra layer of security and anonymity for the users of a Tor based crypto. Some crypto's use it but I think that only DeepOnion uses it natively.
This technology is driving us towards privacy because cryptocurrency goes against the ideals of our government - to see what we're doing all the time, and to try and control us. Coins like DeepOnion and Monero are great because they present more of a defense to take us back to our rights as people, and to have true control over our money again. Great points you made.

I've invested in some really small cap stuff and starting to realize that even if the tech in itself is really awesome, it has nothing to do with market prices. And in five years unknown chains might pop up when people are ready for it and completely wipe out the onces I've put money in :P Also, the money is to dlt what email was to the internet. I think privacy coins will definitely have a huge place in the future if crypto especially DeepOnion with their deepvault feature and their deepsend feature that’s coming out and it’s still in the early stages to get in. This is so true. I love your presentations! Blockhain is now where internet was in 1992. so true. It's here to be developed, but yet blockchain is defo here to stay. In that terms based on trust however, privacy is next most important factor when it comes to wide spread and usage of this type of technology. With all respect to the Bitcoin there are now "new kids from the block" like Monero, DeepOnion, Zcash and similar trying to get there and be THE one. Talking about privacy of course. Lot's of recent developments since this video, lot's of new things like for example one of the coins that I've mentioned DeepOnion is running native on TOR, no need for any further setup like with other coins, just plug & play. Lot of great things coming up for the crypto and technology that we are not even aware of. It's great time to be part to all of these changes.

Good video, but you DO have to trust somebody as a "lay person". You have to trust the software developers. The average person would have no idea how to examine open source code to see if it's trustworthy. But, besides that, he's right. Don't have to trust anyone else.
in my humble opinion you can definately trust that loads of very competent coders will be examining the sources and the info just would spread faaast thru the net if there is something alarming :)
Yes, but between putting your trust into ONE team of developers payed by ONE company which essentially represents ONE actor (or interest), and putting your trust into the voice of ANY developer willing to look at the code who ALL agree that the code can be trusted despite having a diversity of interests, you get a much increased confidence in the latter.
IMHO hardware wallets are needed for mass adoption. People don't want to risk their private keys on a £1 ebay purchase. But if you get a Trezor it only supports about 3 currencies and there are thousands so it's not there yet.
Interesting points about learning security to run a bitcoin wallet on Windows. For that reason, I've gotten into Linux for my DeepOnion wallet. I expect this and other privacy coins to really break out in 2018 with governments and regulators continuing to stick their nose in this space. I very much agree that this is a disruptive technology but their will be a shake out. I like the comparison to the internet in 1992.
I do understand the critic on "private blockchain" as its really just a slow database with some hype. However, I would like to know peoples view on proof-of-stake vs proof-of-work? I just don't like the idea of wasting all the compute resources for nothing. For me proof-of-stake seems like a good compromise of manipulation resistance and transaction speed, but I am still learning the topic.
