Devs ignore player concerns -> players get vocal about it -> devs ban players for helping -> players leave -> Devs: "this toxic community is difficult to satisfy"
It's the "Eric Andre shooting Hannibal Burress" meme. Piles of terrible decisions, ignoring a passionate playerbase with worthwhile feedback, and another dead game in Erez's wake. "Tribes is too difficult for new players. That's why my game died." He's been convinced of his own failure for a while now and has given up when he has all the means to rectify it. At this point he's just drunkenly flipping tables telling us to leave his shop.
The reason why the gaming industry is getting wrecked right now. Especially triple a devs should pound sand... Bethesda and Blizzard-Activision in particular but there are more. Don't get me wrong there are some keeping this shit alive, which is impressive and shows how much love and passion there is in video games as a media and we as a "community".
@@makasuro955 No reason to lie. Erez hasn't been listening for a long time, and his thin skin is behind these ban waves. He can't take criticism and wants the community to walk on egg shells if they don't have glowing feedback. It's all redundant, because Erez shills will still defend him for some reason. Hope cozying up to Erez gets you through this dead game. Have fun in bot lobbies within 2 months.
@@makasuro955 sure, yet we get less content for more money, more micro transactions despite it only being held up by whales and they keep injecting content and social issues into games they have no place being and have no place in my media I use to quite literally step away from the reality, we've asked them to take more time if they need it in development, they don't. So no they haven't...
I am very new to Tribes. Got introduced to it with Tribes Ascend. I have tried Midair 2, but the movement felt so sluggish and just unsatisfying. Is Midair replicating how the OG Tribes games handled movement? The new Tribes games feel so much better to me.
compared to where the game was during the first 3 tests, we're VERY far ahead of where we were. Devs have been listening to the community, albeit some topics much faster than others (e.g. mapping, inv stations, deployables, meaningful gens, vehicles) the big problems are that its too early to be entering the next phase of the game. Most people only give 1 first impression... well that and the lack of advertising/communication, and immaturity with some community relations.
This video is gold, bravo sir, well done. I've already removed T3 from my Steam wishlist and have no intention of giving Prophecy any amount of money. I'm just here to see the game fail and watch the fallout. It's comical at this point how badly they are mishandling the IP and the community that loved it.
Just want to mention I was also banned from the discord quite early on (after also making content for and promoting their game) for criticising the game.
You were only speaking honestly at the situation for what it has been. Recall being in the Discord at the beginning of the fist alphatest, where that CEO spoke openly; at the time it felt very optimistic but in hindsight it was wagging a hotdog, at dogs. He mentioned opening it up to the community, to expand it, sounded almost like offering the ability to make mods, but it was specific to maps, servers, in game sliders. It sounded like the devs would be there to enhance and support the community, if the game was successful. A lot that he said was very optimistic seeming and not exactly how things have progressed, at all. It feels so similar in ways, though is not released like Ascend already was, when they continued tweaking and developing things. One day it feels one way, the next it feels another way, the next day it feels somewhere in between, and the next day regressed entirely back to not feeling right. It has felt like Ascend 2. The elitist are the one's making the game, while ignoring what you say, what has become the continual repetition (which gets deleted/removed) community interactions on the discord. Thanks for making what are very clear and precise explanations and breakdowns of, it all. The cardboard Checkers box is a good way of putting it, the dumbing down of a Chess box.
Hahahah! I got banned in their discord for making a thread about bots being designed to replicate real player behavior, joining lobbies to simulate players joining the lobby and simulate player behavior in the game. Then Erez himself tried to gaslight the chat by saying the biggest reason T:A failed was bcuz it was to hard for people. Put him in place and made him look bad, hurt his little narcissistic ego and he banned me :'D The game is dead on arrival single-handedly thanks to him, trying to hype up a game in a closed off forum bcuz he knows no one wants his shit games and he's scared of ppl coming for him because they stick to the reality of what they have done in the past
I left the T3 discord, uninstalled T3 and downloading T2 right now, let the bannings and drama push us newbloods towards older games and spiritual successors. Prey to Christ and Hunter that HighRez/Prophecy loose the Starsiege/Tribes ip in time
I already uninstalled and left the discord over everything else, so sorry I can't leave over this lol. Erez has poisoned and trashed every game he has touched for decades. I honestly have hated his guts for years. All his money and tribes 3 probably won't make as much as some of the indie porn games I've worked on. He is a walking embodiment of why capitalism is not a meritocracy.
This kind of vitriol accomplishes a couple different things. Pisses off devs, divides the community, and strokes your ego. What it does not accomplish is, a better Tribes game. I don’t agree with the ban on discord. But your hyperbole accomplishes precisely nothing of what you seek.
Greth is not in a position to "help accomplish a better Tribes game" precisely because of who owns the rights to that franchise. I find it extremely strange that you would put any amount of weight on Greth's shoulders as far as responsibility for the quality of the game goes. This shouldn't be a blame game, only the developer&publisher are responsible for this fiasco.
Why straight from Alpha to EA. I believe it is because they were trying to deflect critical feedback by making it seem as if it were further from being complete.
This is pretty lame to see, I’ve been super excited to see a new tribes game come out and it seemed like they’ve been doing well, making progress, iterating. Sure were a lot of repeated feedback points between tests, but felt like things were steadily headed in the right direction. If feels ashame / foolish that they would actively alienate people who are (potentially) their biggest spokespeople. Working in games negative opinions are hard to take (from any source - especially ‘online personalities’), but I would say you always came with genuine care and passion for it and most often had good takes that were generally aligned with community sentiment on the game. As you say the discord ban might be a ‘small’ thing but it doesn’t set a good precedent or positive outlook.
I loved Tribes and Tribes 2, played it all throughout high school. I even loved Tribes Ascend and was shocked at how many of my friends never heard of it or played it because for it's relevant time period I found it to be vastly superior to Call of Duty (I think Black Ops 2 came out around the same time). I didn't even know they were making a new Tribes or if they ever would, so I just got on UA-cam and searched Tribes 3 and this is the first thing I came across. Doesn't look good, lol.
You're from Belgian, omg a fellow one xD But yeah seeing people defend it with "I spend 20euros so if I have 20/50h of fun from it it's fine" but that's not how you keep the game alive, if everyone that buy the game only spent that much time, it's dead after 2 months sadly
Guys let’s move back to tribes one. There’s a group of guys that are making great config files that’s are bringing it into the future but we need help and more players
What a shame... I wouldn't say I'm a hi-rez hater as I hoped they would finally learn their lesson but things like this pretty much kill my interest and instead hand my money to yet another indie game.
With the success of Helldiver's they should realize that firepower works. Proper monetization works. Running with a flag on your back and never firing a shit will fail.
Babies want to be toxic and get upset when there are consequences. Devs are listening if you morons actually paid any attention. Anyway, the community is better without idiots like you.
Any dissent is toxic. The devs are indeed listening, in the next video I have proof that they listened to me quite intently. I was part of the positive side of the community. But I can't take being lied to, and then lied about. How is that immaturity?
Ok but the dude in reddit going on about vehicles and fall damage... sorry but bro, that's a fucking bad take. Any single successful FPS game nowadays is either a competitively viable game (which Prophecy is at least trying to accomplish), or... Helldivers. Going back the way of 90s Tribes really doesn't make sense. The game will fall flat on its face. It'll have a dedicated 100-1000 players but that is not enough to keep a company afloat.
Game is great, getting better every patch, sometimes they suffer a hiccup like with the jet changes last patch and some weapons and packs need a balance pass, but things feel good right now. Maps are fine and offer a great variety of gameplay. Your last video was a bit toxic and I understand you getting banned, better luck on whatever other game you tend to stream "support" next time. Later!
Passive aggressive behavior. Game definitely does not 'feel fine', not fine enough to launch it under the name of Tribes 3 and DEFINITELY not fine enough to ask money for it. But hey, it's Greth who's "toxic". Have fun with your dead-on-arrival game, I guess. A lot of us gave constructive feedback trying to prevent certain things from happening and our suggestions fell on deaf ears or even pushback from the community of people who are only there to please HiRez/Prophecy and reject any wrongthink. I got banned as well, unrelated to Greth situation, and without any stated reason or any way to appeal. Wrongthink.

The reddit post has more likes than the all time peak player count of the game.

make a good-enough game, sell it, ruin it and then shut it down so that it won't cost you any more money to maintain it
This was always Hi-rez "business" model from the beggining. We were just silly or hopeful enough to trust it again.
