great for workout practice, not target archery
Armin Hirmer reviewed a takdown version sold on alibow for over 50$, called the Takedown English Long Bow, note their weight only goes up to 70lb because it is takedown. Mine is zhigaoli longbow from ebay: www.alibowshop...

@@bugger6881 Off and on, In USA Amazon has the 100 pound Longbow from the AMEYXGS seller in the USA on Amazon. I say off and on as AMEYXGS has been out of the 100 pound and 95 pound bows they sell at points with hard time getting them in. I say AMEYXGS over others with the bows that do not use the Glass Steel/Fiberglass and are bows of Fiberglass Resin/Mixed Fiberglass Resin or are Pure Resin with the Fiberglass Resin/Mixed Fiberglass Resin topping out at 70--85 pounds depending on seller of the model and the Pure Resin topping out at 60--65 pound for the one seller of the Pure resin version.

It's a decent bow, especially for the price. I have two lower weights in the take down version and really like them. They are a little bit heavier than a wood bow, of course. And I do recommend getting cat whiskers put on the string, because they do shoot loud. And you use a D97 string as well. I have no clue what it comes with.

    Minimum wage in UK: £9.50
    Minimum wage in Brazil: R$7,57
Price of the bow: £76,99 (aprox. 469,64)
    Hours of work to buy it: 8.1 h(£) vs 62 h (R$)
Unfortunately I’m not buying it soon, or at all...

    Impressive shooting.
I have two of these bows. One is a 65 lb model and the other is a 70 lb model. If anybody is truly interested in learning how to shoot off the hand primitively this is the bow for you. I can tell you from experience these things sling arrows fast. I'm a person that believes in primitive hunting, and you can easily harvest any animal with these bows. The best thing to do is put a side quiver on it, some fur string silencers, and it takes a lot of shock out of the bow. I can also tell you that these bows are darn near indestructible, outside of just setting it on fire or taking an axe to it. I really wish American bowmakers would catch on to what the Chinese are doing. There's no reason for recurve bows to cost in the thousands of dollars. At one point in America we knew that... that's why many different archery companies made high poundage fiberglass hunting bows.
If anybody is into being prepared for the worst... I would definitely recommend buying three, or four, maybe even five of these bows. The lower the poundage the cheaper they are.

    • @juffurey
      @juffurey 2 роки тому

Another thing to reduce the shock is to buy some drum dampening pucks from Amazon, don't work as well as limbsavers but they do work and would not detract from the bow's appearance, especially if you can get the same color.

My Brother has a 60 pound model he has yet to use that in USA I can only find the up to 100 pound version on Amazon from a specific seller AMEYXGS and will only buy from the seller AMEYXGS that makes the bow up to 100 pounds. Almost all of the other sellers say fiber glass resin/mixed fiberglass resin or straight up resin for a single seller. Some of the one piece are not ZhiGaoli selling the bow but another brand especially the mixed resin models or the single seller of Resin that say just some different Chinese writing on them then ones with the ZhiGaoli name to them. The takedown most are ZhiGaoli. With the Takedown I have seen a few in reviews people get the hunting weights like 45--50 pounds often adding a shelf/two shelves on the sides using one or two pieces of wood or something similar cut to the needs to have a compact for travel to the hunting site as a two piece traditional longbow. The reason for the use of the takedown model as a compact hunting bow is that most of the traditional type of two piece takedown longbows with a shelf are either hard to find in good shape old two piece fiberglass like Ben Person for a good price bow or expensive over $700 takedown custom/single person making bows.

Whole bunch of thoughts on this bow and the video .
    In no particular order .
You really seem to enjoy the thump sound of the arrow landing in the target butt .
As a large d shaped self bow .
It could be an inexpensive analog for an eastern North American indigenous bow .
Or African d shaped self bow
    Or ,or ,or .
Since self bows either flat or d shaped are probably the most common .
You are correct it could be a practical training bow for high weights .
The tendency for marketing simplicity to call it an English long bow is meh .
Wouldn't be used if it didn't work though .
    You are definitely enjoying
    Your circumstances in the hat
    Vs Ottawa.
Since you seem to have more places to play with the heavy toys .
    Cheers
Btw the small target butt you where shooting is a bull dog .
The manufacturer is a block from my place . 😉

I have one in 70# Takedown. I was going to use it to hunt but realized I bit off more than I could chew. But it actually helped me realize my weakness in a more tangible way and it got me working out so now I can do a full draw on it and shoot it comfortably for around 15-20 shots. Now when I shoot my 45lbs recurve, it feels like a child's weight. I will say the arrows fly very straight but not as fast as with the recurve bow for obvious reasons but it's an absolute pleasure to shoot and I love it. I have considered getting a 25 or 30lbs version for small game but havent gotten around to ordering another one. I may just buy weaker limbs for my recurve as it's cheaper than buying a whole extra bow.

I have the three piece version of this bow in 35lb and 50lb. Adding cat whiskers to the strings cut down a lot of the noise and vibration. I've paid about $85 each. Definitely worth the money, especially if you want a bow that you don't need to worry about abusing or if you're just starting out on the longbow. And you can use a D97 string on these bows.

This bow works too much on the first third of the limbs from the handle, the last third is barely bending, and is too heavy, wich explain the handshock
Maybe you can remove some mass from the last third of the limb, the weight will decrease, but it will gain some speed and comfort

  • @tristantheafflicted
    @tristantheafflicted Рік тому +1

I got the takedown version at 55lb when these things started coming out. Handshock is still an issue at that draw weight, and the heavy limbs are noticeably sluggish for the weight, even compared to a same draw weight solid fiberglass limb horsebow or wooden longbow. Higher draw weights probably up the efficiency (since it's just thicker, but not wider limbs).
But of course it's bloody indestructible, cheap and fun. I'm hoping in future for a shorter version or with reflexed tips to push the limbs more, since it definitely has more to give. (Might modify mine eventually)
