Hey man that was absolutely amazing I would love guides on how to mange cds I just played warlock this expansion and love it and seeing how you play really made me learn more things! ❤
Vile taint is pretty nice for doing a bit extra damage to the adds, If the adds live a long time in P3 it is pretty worth. In my groups now, though, the adds die pretty quick. Unless I get into a carry group I think I will just run Phantom Singularity for now
Hey, got a question about the opener! What's the reason for going Haunt > UA > Agony > Corruption > Soul Rot > VT rather than Haunt > UA > VT > Corruption > Soul Rot? Seems like we just waste a global double applying agony, and could have the VT cooldown rolling very slightly earlier, as well as the wasted soul shard gen from the soul rot cast - is it just because then the VT lasts a little longer on the tail end to fit more malefic raptures in?
I didn't realize that I applied agony before VT LOL, definitely a wasted global. The reason I soul rot before VT is so that the soul rot cooldown aligns with the web roots at 1 minute into the fight. She casts the roots again 2 minutes as well, so if I can line it up right I will be able to use it on the webs several times in a row. I want to be able to use soul rot and hit as many webs as possible to make use out of the "Dark Harvest" talent (gives haste and crit per enemy hit with SR). Doing soul rot and then VT wastes a soul shard, but I want to make sure that my cooldowns align later, so I didn't mind wasting a soul shard early.
It really depends and it can be a bit complicated. The biggest priority is NOT wasting any procs of nightfall or crescendo. If you have two stacks of either, using one of the two stacks is your biggest priority. Next would be not overcapping on soul shards, so if you have 5 shards, use one at least. Then, generally, crescendo > nightfall (unless you need to reapply shadow's embrace) then regular rapture. to simplify: 2 stacks of either proc > not overcapping soul shards > maintain shadow's embrace > crescendo > rapture (especially during CDs) > nightfall If you are using drain soul, and the target is below 20%, you can prioritize nightfall procs more heavily outside of cooldowns.
Hi Krozo, quick question - do you interrupt your normal drain soul when you get a nightfall or crescendo proc (so you can cast the faster drain soul)? Tyvm!
Hey there. I do interrupt regular drain soul for other spells. Nightfall/crescendo procs are a high priority in my rotation, where as a regular drain soul is just a filler til I get something high priority to do.
Super cool, im curoius, what addon is at the top middle of your screen that says 'pull in' and 'slow' at 3:14? Is that bigwigs doing that? I dont think mine does
Thank ya! That is a part of my BigWigs setup. Make sure it is updated, and if it still doesn't appear like mine, you can type /bigwigs and go into the specific settings per boss and change what does/does not show. For example, that "slow" you referred to is called "Paralyzing Venom" in bigwigs, and if you check the boxes for bars and/or messages you will get notifications like I have. Hope that helps!
Hey there. There are different types of parses. Dps parses, healing parses, boss damage, etc. Generally, for a DPS parse, what matters is your damage. So, having better gear and doing your rotation well will in general result in better parses. That being said, some fights have adds that are not counted on warcraft logs, so to parse well, you need high dps on the targets that matter. There is so much that goes into getting a good parse. Gear, group size, group dps, consumables, PI, adds vs single target, doing mechanics correctly, etc... A generic answer about how to improve your parses would be to get comfortable with your rotation on a target dummy and getting comfortable with the mechanics on the boss. Once you feel comfortable with both it is much easier to actually parse. I hope that kind of answers your question. I plan on making some guide/commentary videos for the bosses in Nerub-ar Palace to help highlight some ways to improve on each boss :) Are there any specific bosses you are having trouble with?
@@krozothebozo Thank you very much for the answer, it helped a lot. My guild started HC progression this week and my parses are between 75 and 85 but I know I make a lot of mistakes in rotation. I didn't know about this detail about Wlog not counting certain adds, I'll pay more attention. A guide that I would find extremely interesting would be tips for the bosses and also for m+, I believe they would help a lot. Thanks again for the answer, hugs from Brazil
@@Matheus_Ronu 75-85 is pretty good for your first week of progression! Have you used the website "Wowanalyzer" before? You link the log of a specific fight and it will give you some info on basic things you can improve on (dot uptime, overcapping soul shards, etc..) And yeah, warcraft logs just had an update for Rasha'nan, the leaderboards do not count add damage anymore. I'll keep m+ in mind as well!
@@williammontrell1075 yeah that can be very tough. I know that I used to spend too much time looking at the boss to see my dps numbers lol. Zooming out so you can see the area is nice, and having a weakaura like the one I have can make it easier to track your dots on the target too.
sure. I use the afenar warlock pack. He has really clean weakaura sets for all classes. mine will look slightly different, because I removed the utility bar of spells because I have them elsewhere. wago.io/Afenar_Warlock
I really enjoy using shadow bolt. It does more damage upfront, and nightfall procs making it instant cast make shadow bolt feel much better to use during hectic fights with movement, or just for maintaining shadow's embrace. Drain soul does a lot more damage in execute, though, which is generally the most important place to have damage. Most of the top logs will be using drain soul but SB is definitely a viable option if you like it. I use shadow bolt on Silken Court for sure. So I used vile taint to somewhat pad if I am being honest, lol. It applies curse of exhaustion, so I could slow the gloom adds in phase 3, but also it applies two dots so my raptures hit those adds harder. My boss damage was quite low because I used vile taint over ps. My group had a lot of boss damage though, so it was fine for me to cheese a little bit.
Thank you! I use the "Warlock Pack" by Afenar, I'll link it for you. The pack tracks some warlock utility (soulstone, healtstone, ports, etc..) but I delete that part of the WA to clear my screen of clutter. wago.io/Afenar_Warlock
I thought I replied to this comment, but I can't see it. Sorry for being so late to reply. I use the Afenar Warlock Weakaura pack. wago.io/Afenar_Warlock
Yes I do! The macro is: #showtooltip /cast [@cursor] Vile Taint This macro makes it so you don't have the green circle pop up and the spell instantly casts at your cursor's location. I personally enjoy it, but it takes some getting used to. Makes it easier to miss your target in a hectic environment.
Thank you! Affliction will be fine to play in the raid, and even the best spec on some fights. Destruction damage is pretty close to aff but feels a lot more consistent to me, soul shard generation is much more reliable and the spec is quite simple too. Plus you have a lot more mobility in destro compared to aff with so many instant casts with shadowburn and conflagrage, so you aren't punished as much when moving during a lot of the hectic fights. That being said; I think you should just play whatever spec you are most comfortable on. I will play a mix of aff and destro in the raid since they are my most comfortable specs! :)
For sure! I don't really use that many addons or weakauras to be honest. I made my UI setup in edit mode, based on the classic layout [the link breaks when I try to post it in the comments here, sorry :( ] After that I use the Afenar warlock pack to track my warlock abilities : wago.io/Afenar_Warlock Then I just use BigWigs to track raid encounter timings and Details for dps meter. I'm not sure how to link them, but just look up BigWigs and/or Details where you download your addons from.
@@krozothebozo thanks bro for fast reply,I really like the tracker layout for your main cooldowns and dots . Icons are large and very clean , is that the default afenar or did you customise ?
@@EdmundAlley No problem! I edited his a little bit. I removed the utility section that tracks soulstone, demonic circle, etc since i didnt need it.
