    Really nice down to earth video. subject was really well covered. I don't know much about the breeding side of falconry, now I know a lot more. Those "bagged" incubators are a smart idea. I'll keep an eye on this channel when I have some video suggestions I'll let you know.

    Your video is also full of knowledge but the people who knows about artificial insemination or breeding they don't need this video to watch but the people who don't even a single process of breeding for them make a very step by step video from starting till baby raised. As the chamber structure temperature environment mistakes that new person can do the things in breeding must be remember each and every thing from basic to the end .thanks for your work❤❤

    Hi Jeff enjoyed the video, how to you encourage the males onto the hats?

    • @BorderFalcons
      @BorderFalcons  8 місяців тому

      That’s an excellent question. We will include it in our Q&A mini this weekend coming! Thanks for watching

      Some use food to get them past the fear of the hat if they have one , some males just do it but personally I like to get them on the hat as youngsters , jerkins ( male gyrs ) are very playful and I like to use that to make a game of “ on the hat “ soon as they’ve got feathers even if it just means placing a hat near enough to their block so they can jump on it

    Great stuff sir, Ben woodruff from Utah he is also doing good work on you tube channel according to falconry and I watch his videos and appreciate him and I also appreciate you for your work that share techniques and experience as I am in pakistan the pakistan is not advanced enough as foreign countries to do things like artificial insemination and breeding birds of prey. Being a falconer I have a lot of interest in falconry and breeding falconry birds one of best merlin type red headed merlin this species are really in danger at this moment because of illegal trapping it is also my dream to set a breeding set up on my own expenses to save this precious species.I have seen alot of videos subscribe many channels and collected data and give them sequence to understand process of breeding.these birds are friendly as pets but wild bird breeding that I want to know about more as captive breeding.

    Do you inseminate before the first egg is laid & what is the best time to inseminate before the next egg is due?

      Hi Johnny, yes I inseminate prior first egg soon as they start bagging up . I also as I say on the video do after the egg and a day or so after . I never inseminate 12 hrs or less befor an egg is due . I did lots when I worked in the gulf instead of after the egg and none or next to none were fertile . Hope this answers the question

    Very interesting video, quite the process. Are your birds bred to order or do you breed x amount of pure and x amount of hybrids? Just curious. Bit of a change from the brick laying!

    • @BorderFalcons
      @BorderFalcons  8 місяців тому

      Hi Matthew , we breed mainly hybrids and a few pure gyrs . We keep and female peregrines for us
