      I got two pallets worth of used panels from Signature solar. One set i had sitting in the rain for a month in the back of my truck sitting flat and pooled with water, I finally set them all up, 48 panels. I haven't used grid power in almost 3 months now. I also built my own 304AH battery racks for a total of 60kwh.
      I would definitely recommend used panels.

    Signature solar has great prices on new panels, REC 370w at $103 , spend a bit more and get Talesun bifacial 400w at $108. I think it is very reasonable and safer. Maybe there are others with similar prices.

    In IL as well, ordered 10 used 365w panels from Santan and they have been in use with no issues over a month now.....could not be happier, ran 1200 delivered to my door.

    Very nice!! I love my used panels from SanTan!! The truck that delivered my used panels had a gate that lowered. He even helped me bring the pallet into my garage with his portable forklift.
    The tax explanation actually makes a lot of sense. I didn't think of that.

    I just bought 10- 250W Trina panels for $430 Tax incl. with free shipping, from SanTan Solar.
    That was $40 each.
    Supposed to be here next Tuesday, we will see.
    Already have the charge controllers and other control hardware installed.

    Just an FYI: Santan Solar recently started a minimum purchase requirement on panels, which really pisses me off.
    I have been buying panels from them for a long time, and their new requirement to buy at least 10 at a time is absurd. Many people who buy from them don't need 10 panels for their application.

      Thanks for the update, I see both sides. Frustrating for DIY projects for sure but also a struggle for many companies to justify shipping costs on the smaller orders.

    I've got 36 250W blemished and snail trail Santan Solar panels that I use for various solar projects around my house. I've bought them in multiple orders, but one set of 20 I got during a BOGO sale and ended up paying just $25 per panel. Basically paid for themselves the first summer by offsetting the cost of air conditioning completely. It helps that I have family near their warehouse in Arizona so I can take a trip to visit them and get cheap panels at the same time to save on shipping costs.

    I have heard from an insider that there are millions of panels scheduled for replacement under those incentives this year that will flood the market. If that occurs this might be the year to grab a bunch.... One other thing you could do is watch for the sellers on facebook market place that have shown up recently. They have newer high output bi-facials that are priced low enough you think its a scam. There were a bunch of canadian solar panels like that recently. I picked up 14 535W bi facials that were new for $150 each. I drove 200 miles for those with a small trailer. I would have bought the pallet if I had enough cash. They were bought by various people who resell cars and such from that method from freight wreck auctions by the container load. They sorted out the smashed ones and put the others up under cost. In my case well under. I have tested them and they are all putting out over 100%. I have yet to find the auction place they are finding them at but have mainly seen them for Canadian solar brand. Seen 600 watt CS panels at $200 each etc. Worth watching for IMO.... FWIW

    • @everydaysolar
      @everydaysolar  2 місяці тому

      Nice, thanks so much for the feedback. Are you seeing up an offgrid system? 14 X 535W is a healthy array.

  • @jasonbroom7147
    @jasonbroom7147 2 місяці тому +2

    One of my solar arrays is 4 used panels, each 235 watts. They are in a terrible location, because my house sits in a valley between two hardwood ridges. On most days, these panels still do bring in enough power for my off-grid office. Given how much the price of new panels have come down, if I was doing this again, today, I would probably buy new and get the warranty. The price difference just isn't as high as it was 12-18 months ago.

    Thanks. I wish the title also told us about the subject of the video, though. I want this to show up when searching for info about used panels and I currently don't see tags that might help with that.

    • @everydaysolar
      @everydaysolar  2 місяці тому

      Thanks for the feedback I added a couple more tags on used panels and also mentioned a couple times in the description which UA-cam is usually pretty good at picking up in addition to actually pulling the content out of the video. Seems like this does take a few days or weeks to align in search. If I don't see it coming up I will tweak the title in the future as well.

    Hi. I bought an 11.7kw Basen green Lifepo4 51.2V battery. I will charge BG battery with solar panels via a Victron MPPT 150/35. I will charge the Delta pro from BG battery like you show in this video.
    Output from BG battery is 50Ah (200Ah max). After a minute of charging with a output power of 15.5A, the output power from the BG battery started to drop to 3A and then to 5A, thus minimally charging the Delta Pro in waves (3A 5A 3A 5A, ...). Could it be a power output problem with too much amperage (DP max input xt60 is 15A)? How can I solve this?

    Off topic but curious - would it be possible to build solar panels into a garage door itself? Mine has excellent southern exposure and it feels like this could be a really successful option as
    1. You don’t have to put solar on your roof
    2. You’d leverage an existing surface (your door)
    3. You could tie directly in to a battery in your garage.
    4. Install would be ridiculously easy - just swap out your garage panels with the solar embedded ones.
    Why has nobody done this yet? Is one reason that there’s no mass produced panel that could fit in that form factor?

    • @DethpickleDave
      @DethpickleDave 2 місяці тому

      Neat idea. Not meaning to crap on it, but certainly some problems might include: garage doors are never going to be close to the optimal elevation angle (90, vs 20-30), it would be coincidence they're facing south, they move (a lot) so durability and connection routing of energized power cables that's not in the way is going to be tricky, especially on a sectional door. But, yeah. It is a 7'x16' space we almost all have. If someone came up with something clever that worked, it could be a widely deployable solution. Just seems like there's a lot working against it.

    • @everydaysolar
      @everydaysolar  2 місяці тому

      Often those panels will still produce. I think the main think to look out for is to ensure water can't get in. If there are just scratches you are probably good.

    I in fact has a question. After getting the used solar panel, I check the DC volt with 36v reading, which is correct. But when I check DC amp, it gave me reading of 00.22. I was stressed that I bought the lemon. Today under the sun, it produce 188w x 1panel. Why I can’t read the amp with multi meter at the first place ??
