Little correction- DCS does model system failures. You have to enable them in the settings for (very rare) randomized failures, or set up specific failures to happen via the mission editor.
EZ talk ... @@BZsim sorry it was easy ^^. But dont forget, you need to spend 5K hours minimum (on FA/18 for exemple) on DCS, and 1K or 5 K too on MFS for juge correctly both game. Yep it's complicated !
Microsoft removed all crash files after 9/11. DCS focuses on the aircraft and combat. You are comparing apples to oranges. Both of the games are good for what they focus on. I have experience in MSFS since DOS and DCS since it was LOMAC. I still play DCS way more than MSFS. So, when I feel like flying around town or areas for sight seeing it is MSFS all the way. But when it's time to blow stuff up or avoid getting blown up it's DCS.
Thanks! It’s a little bit like comparing Hard Rock to Classical music, the sims serve very different purposes. My vote - in DCS I feel much more immersed than in MSFS.
Good job on the editing. Looks like it may have taken some time to do all that. I agree with you on the differences in ground textures. Though, I hope some day DCS will have a world wide map like MSFS does. Although, it will probably suffer the same texture consequences if they do. I agree with you that the flight models should change when wings are folded.
Years ago CAP from GR did a whole video of that. This was before super carriers. So, we had no one telling us to extend them. I have made that error a few times. You sit there wondering why she just isn't flying like you remember. Then go to an outside view and face palm time.
I've thought a lot about this comparison, having flown in both sims, and I always end up leaning towards DCS. One of the biggest factors for me is the sounds. I've always found audio design to be one of the most important parts of a game, and the sound of the engines is one of my favorite things about airplanes. The sounds in MSFS aren't bad by any means, but DCS just knocks it out of the park and sets the bar higher in terms of sound effects for all flight sims. No other sim that I've tried has come close to DCS in terms of sound. Not to mention DCS runs a lot more smoothly on my PC than MSFS does. That being said, each sim has its own merits. MSFS has a lot of things I would love to see in DCS, including: -dynamic/live weather -generated AI air traffic -pushback tugs! -visually modeled ground crew -flyable aircraft with more than 2 engines -floatplanes! Even with all that, I struggle to find the time for MSFS 2020 because I play it infrequently enough that I always have to wait a long time for whatever updates I've missed, and I usually don't have all day to wait around for that. With DCS, I can just run the game without updating if I don't want to wait around.
"I struggle to find the time for MSFS 2020 because I play it infrequently enough that I always have to wait a long time for whatever updates I've missed" I have 22 hours clocked on MSFS2020, and maybe 4 of those hours are actually flying, with the rest being downloading, and then troubleshooting all the things that the updates break. DCS just works.
dcs is better in graphics because the only limits to the graphics you can put is set by your computer if you have 4080 then you can make dcs look exactly like real life
Ok, sure, i get why you said that flight simulator's buildings and terrain was bad, but remember, the game takes place in real world locations, so imagine how it would be to model each and every building induvidually
DCS has a better attention to detail on the ground, but i'm not a big fan of the lighting. The lighting in MSFS2020 is almost spot on, but the buildings can look very off
*They are both great. But the ground looks equally terrible on both. As you state, this is not the purpose of these simulators. So, they just use a 3D appearance flat text. Like Google Maps, satelite view does. The added in things like mountains or certain buildings are 3D objects, however.* 👍
Between the constant bugs and glitches (the only kind of crashes you'll see), the bombed out looking buildings, having to download hundreds of gigs directly through microsoft at poverty-tier speeds, MSFS2020 just feels like an unfinished product even four years later, or in other words a cashgrab scam. DCS is just a better overall experience, and I don't regret giving several hundred dollars to Eagle Dynamics over the years one bit.
THIS. I want to like msfs2020 but its crippled by a mountain of bugs and performance issues not present in dcs. Dcs just feels better in every way. And yeah, its looking fishy especially since they already announced a new flight sim instead of continuing to improve 2020... They are trying to forza'ify flight sim
The bridge is a bridge, idk why you’re getting that weird graphical tearing, but that looks more like your graphics card or your RAM maxing out memory which is why when you fly into it it might crash you. But I can assure you I have flown under that very bridge in the fa/18
Short answer is no. There is a mod that adds AI-only airliners, but the stock game is only military aircraft with just a couple exceptions. Closest thing to an airliner that comes to mind is an unofficial flyable C-130 mod.
The rendering engine in MSFS doens't allow for especially high resolution ground textures which will be addressed in MSFS 2024, but third party developers can still create pretty convincing effects, the default textures arem't that great though. Landing on the ground in MSFS isn't too bad, what planes are you flying, default or Asobo, if you try something like the ATR from Hans Hartmann the feel of the plane on landing and taking off improves quite a bit.
I deleted my original comment, I just find the video and some of these comments so be of a poor understanding of both sim. They are both flying simulators but have a different focus and technical requirements. I enjoy both sims but I like to explore so MSFS wins hands down. Graphically overall for me MSFS is better than DCS World, although cockpit rendering and clouds are excellent in DCS, but it still doesn't have the variety or real world feel MSFS has, DCS is more of a re-imagination of our earth within its pretty confined maps.
Flying Su-35 or F-16 in MSFS is quite entertaining. Flying with a friend is even better as you can perform a simulated dogfight. Of course if you lack imagination then this kind of fun is not for you.

Really a lot of that comes down to the module you're using. DCS just has a lot more high detail modules including the sound department.

See from above, msfs good, when you landing in ground, msfs is so suck, mesh and all detail in ground so suck

Flying fighters in MSFS is a joke. They are cheep and pointless. But for all other planes MSFS is great. DCD is far more sophisticated as a sim.
I agree!
Well MSFS is not a combat flight simulator.
The Hawk T1 is as good as any fighter in DCS. Although it doesn't have weapons of course (unfortunately).
Flying Su-35 or F-16 in MSFS is quite entertaining. Flying with a friend is even better as you can perform a simulated dogfight. Of course if you lack imagination then this kind of fun is not for you.
That really comes down to the lack of quality fighter modules, and msfs's aerodynamic system not supporting supersonic flight.
DCS is 💯% better
