I saw a VW beetle just like one yesterday, hit by a pickup truck. Everyone seems okay but feelings hurt no doubt. It looked written off to me. Was a 1960 what I thought. Beryl green. A true shame. When Beetles get hit in the front, they always get that comic look with the cock-eyed head lights. 😬
Nice car but not all original. Interior is not original at all. Wrong seat covers,wrong door and quarter panels,wrong arm rest,never had full carpet was rubber on floor and tunnel. Head lights are later model and not original. Running boards are newer replacement. Hupcaps look aftermarket and should have black painted emblems. Hinges are worn and door sags. Missing glove door hole caps,engine area missing rubber stops for engine cover. Over all a good car....but should not say all original....because it is not.
This reminds me of our black 60 with fabric sunroof, which Dad bought second-hand in 1965.

The hubcaps are replacements, as the VW logo on the hubcaps should be painted black for a 1959 model car.

No clamps on any fuel line connection, AND a plastic aftermarket inline gas filter? Two BIG no's! This motor is just waiting for an engine fire.....

I just got my grandmas volts wagon but it has no built in clutch you use the gas pedal as the clutch or thats what im told

Looks like it sitting on a irs pan. Just saw the rear end under the right fender. Didn't look swing axle. But I could be wrong. Nice 59 for sure.
All VW's are IRS. Proper term in the owners manual is swing or double jointed.

About the only thing that could be wrong about 1959 would be seat covers! I have a 1959 and it looks exactly the same!!
